Day 7: The Trap

Beginning her journey out of the valley. She has to get through the deep woods. A small path lay through. It seemed very, very quiet, surely it would have been louder with people going to an from in a safer time. Yet, with no distracting sounds, she didn't notice a branch that looked a little different from the tree it was by, nor the small stick below. It held a rope in place, and once stepped on the weird branch dropped and a big coil of rope wrapped around her left leg. She was expecting danger, but not this. Now she has to get out of whosoever trap this belongs to.

I got the background basically done in a day, found some day to outline and colour my OC, and then tonight I spent all day adding shading to the flora and some small edits. Big thanks to Wikihow for showing how a snare trap works.

Linktober Day 6: OC Begins Journey

Yeah, 25 days since the last entry. Hurricane Milton, too much time playing Stellaris, learning to sew, and preparing for Halloween, I didn't put a lot of time into doing these. I actually had it done the 22nd, but just didn't post yet. All that changed since the 22nd was some shading to the face and making the back mountain a little more faded.

I'll still be doing this even after tonight. I kinda have some constant tradition now of doing all my Halloween/October stuff in November because I don't get it done this month.

I also decided to add that this is a dedicated Dark Crystal retelling. I actually didn't understand that on the first day. I told somehow how absurd Linktober's story is, and then I realised it was that movie.

She's on her quest now, let's see how she goes.

Linktober Day 5: The Quest

She remembers her master's last word. She knew the people of the valley had something special to them, she wasn't expecting her to be a part of a prophecy. She doesn't know who this Zelda is, but the world ending is all the reason she needs to seek her out.

Was a little too tired yesterday to work on the drawing for then. Beginning today's drawing right now. Hopefully I can catch up and keep up, but apparently a giant hurricane is trying to make that impossible.

The Last makes her own visit out to the master's site. It will be tough without her master beside her, but she has dealt with a loneliness for a long, long time.

I haven't realised all the changes I made to my OC between the first, unfinished vector art and what I use for profile pics. I decided to make her a little more like her original appearance. Hopefully she finds a way to get wings someday.

Linktober Day 1, Mirror

So there has been no planning. I have decided on linktober this year, but I am also doing an oc one in private with friends, so this year may be of lower quality. (It absolutley is about to be of lower quality, but hopefully it'll at least be funny)

In the Valley, the four gathered to see their master one last time. Their realm is seeing their demise, their power weakening. It could have all been stopped with a completed triforce, and now there may be someone who can give them what they want.

I know it's technically the 4th when I post this, but as long as I'm awake it's still the 3rd.

Atop the throne room, the four gather to see the Emperor is the last moments. The power they have held has waned more, getting weaker and weaker. Without the full power of a completed triforce, there is no escape from time, which has now arrived for the Emperor. It may be too late for him, but his plan to stop it for the rest of them is in action.

It has been a long time. The wind and rustling leave be now the main source of sound around. The most prominent structure long ago and now remains the great castle. From its height though, there is nothing to see of Hyrule.

Decided to try another Inktoker drawing challenge. This time it's not only a drawing a day, but a connected story. This story taking a quite fun connection to another thing I like, The Dark Crystal. Hopefully I keep up with this for longer.

First Attack: Carmille

Starting off fast, and that was with me barely being able to get the reference with the site being almost impossible to use on the first day. I must remember to save the references for the characters I want to draw before Artfight starts, otherwise it gets difficult to find them. Nevertheless, this is here. I decided to do Carmille by @coxinhadoce47-art to kick off Artfight this year. I like their clothes, and upon seeing this image and reading their backstory I was able to quickly think up this image in my head.

Trying to do things different, I didn't use outlines and used less solid shading. I think it went out really well. I hope you like it. I hope I can keep up this pace a little longer too.

5 Days from now and ready to go!

Finally got 5 people to show. I'm glad to take part in this next year of art fight. I'm hoping to be a little more simpler and faster with my drawings this year. That way I can avoid spending around 4 days for a single attack and get to draw for more people.

i think the adage of "machine learning is just a tool" is speaking past most of the issue. like, of course it is, it's been a tool for like 15 years, but we all know that it's not being marketed as a tool. if it were marketed like any other tool, it would be obvious that it requires existing artistic ability to be fully utilized.

and yeah, when you get down to it, making legible and consistent AI art in line with what you're imagining is basically just as hard as drawing it yourself, but reality doesn't bring in cash. we know it's a tool, the problem is that it can never just be a tool, it must be the product. it must be a magic machine that translates imagination into pixels, but this cannot be. not because art is uniquely human, but because letting a noise generator fill in such massive gaps is necessarily ceding control, ceding authorship.

So I’m back again.

It was probably wrong to say that I’m back around a year ago, as it was more a long break. While I did get much done over a few months then, another year of school started, and it felt hard to keep up. Navigating this Spring was one of the hardest things for me to do in my life so far.

But now I’ve graduated and slowly remembering that I had a life before everything got so hectic. Things are still busy, but only a little more than what they were over the summer. I’ve come to realise that regardless of whether you take online or in person classes, university can be a +40 hours of work a week. With that out of the way, maybe I can be here again to show off my art. Here’s something I’ve been working on since August. It was more that I made a basic outline in August, hade a 3D model of the bike made and drawn an outline of it in January and February, redid the character outline in May, and some final touches recently.

With that, here’s some changes. The first is that I’ve come to accept that I’ll probably always just frequently post here, and that’s okay. This isn’t youtube, I don’t need to post something on a schedule. This has also basically been more of just an archive, so I’m not too ashamed. Second, around a year ago I said I’d get into mature art. The result of that has basically been nothing, even with the little stuff I did. I’m just keeping to posting sfw now, so I’ll take out any notice suggesting that I’ll do mature stuff in the future. I’ll still be keeping to mainly furry characters though.

With that, I’m happy to finally be doing stuff on this website again.
