Chapter 5

Word Count: 2389 //TW// abuse, strong language, violence, gore, etc. Also, the plot is going to be based on the manga!
A/N : I just want to point out that I love Grell, whom of which is in this chapter I WILL be referring to Grell with male pronouns strictly because the characters in the anime do the same. I apologize if this offends, I am simply trying to stick as close to the anime/manga as I can.
You were in a carriage on the way to Ciel's townhouse in London after receiving a letter. Ciel had wanted you to accompany him on this case due to the nature of it. You told him you would only go if Mara could come along. You refused to be in another situation where you had no idea what the fuck was going on because you were too careless to pay attention to the anime. But, in your defense, this would never happen to any other people, so you thought your neglect was fine.
You forgot that Mara and Ciel hadn't exactly had a lot of one-on-one time. Now, the entire ride all you've heard is her questioning the young Earl about anything and everything, probably driving him mad. He wasn't showing it much, though. After a few more minutes, the carriage came to a halt. You faintly heard Ciel mutter, "Finally," under his breath. After Sebastian opened the door, he said, "Young Master, it's been a while since you last went out, hasn't it?" After speaking, Sebastian assisted Ciel out of the carriage, Ciel began to complain. "I couldn't care less who sent that letter, I hate being in crowded places."
"You're telling me." You mutter, hopping out of the carriage before Sebastian could even offer you his hand. "Crowded places are not it man." You watch as Mara pops her head from the carriage. As she sees the townhouse, she squeals quietly. She takes Sebastians hand and is immediately by your side, "It looks so much better than I thought it would!" She whisper-yells. You roll your eyes lightly, "Mara you've even said that about the bathroom since we arrived." You shake your head slightly.
Ciel had already begun to walk inside with Sebastian, not wanting to wait for the two of you. Unfortunately for her, your cell phone had died a long while ago, otherwise, you knew she'd be attempting to take pictures. The two of you began to follow the Earl. Mara had informed you before your trip to London that Grell would be here. You couldn't remember many of the characters from the show other than the main few. You knew he was a reaper though so you had already decided that you would keep your distance from him for a bit. Mara had also been stressed slightly because she knew the 'Jack the Ripper' case was quickly approaching.
Thankfully Ciel hadn't questioned the two of you on your knowledge of this universe, only what you knew of him and his butler. As you walk inside you hear Sebastian make a comment to his master about how much more peaceful it would be without the other servants. You then see that he's spoken too soon because the place is ruined. Madam Reed and Lau had torn apart the townhouse looking for tea leaves. "Madam red?! Lau?! Why are you here?" Ciel exclaimed as you sighed. Mara nudges you, telling you to be polite. Ciel then tells Sebastian to go prepare tea.
"Since my cute little nephew is in London, how could I not come visit while you were here?" Madam Red responds, she then glances back to see the two of you, "Oh? Ciel you never told me you hired new staff!" She says with a smile before approaching the two of you. "Hello, I'm Madam Red!"
Ciel sighs, "Yes, meet my...bodyguard, (Y/n), and my assistant chef, Mara."
You were horrid at introductions, so you awkwardly greeted her, responding with your name. Mara, however, greeted the woman as enthusiastically as she could. Madam Red turned to Ciel, "I like this one!" she says with a grin. The trio then walks into the other room, leaving you Mara, and, oh lovely, Grell. Mara approaches him and begins to make small talk; he stutters out some responses. You stand awkwardly, unsure of what to do. You jump at Sebastian's voice, "(Y/n), would you like to help me serve the master and his guests?" he offers as he proceeds to walk past you with a tea cart. You shrug, "Why not, better than making small talk here I guess." You follow him into the other room, the nobles are seated and speaking to one another. You let Sebastian do the speaking since, well, he's clearly more well-versed than you are. After a moment you see Grell and Mara following suit, Grell taking his place behind Madam Red and Mara behind Ciel.
Sebastian proceeds to tell them what kind of tea is being served then he motions for you to serve it. You managed to successfully pour the tea without causing any casualties. Afterward, Madam Red made a comment on Sebastian's tea-making. "Grell, you should follow his example." She says whilst side-eyeing the man. You couldn't quite remember if Grell was a reaper or not, you'd have to ask Mara later, you couldn't do it here because of the supernatural creatures in the room which had amazing ears. You decide to shuffle over next to Mara so you can be out of everyone's way.
You lean over to whisper to her, "Hey this is the Jack the Ripper shit, right?"
Mara nods before whispering back, "Did they ever find out who it was, ya know, in our dimension?"
You shrug, "I think it was some barber guy named Aaron Kosminski. I can't remember when they announced that, though."
"Anyways," Madam Red starts before literally caressing Sebastian's ass, "Every time I see you, you're still so handsome! Why don't you simply quit working here and come serve me!" This causes you to almost lose composure and burst out laughing. You mask it with a cough, looking up to make eye contact with the butler who looks less than amused though, he plays it off politely and steps away from her and standing to your right.
"I've heard about the case of prostitutes being murdered on the streets lately." Ciel starts. "This isn't an ordinary case; the deaths are very abnormal. That's why the queen is concerned." Ciel says before reaching down to take a bite of the cake Sebastian had served along with the tea.
Sebastian took over speaking, "The murdered prostitute was named Mary Ann Nichols. The wounds looked as if they were done using a sharp tool allowing for a painful death." Ciel looks up from his cake before saying, "The police and other prostitutes call the murderer 'Jack the Ripper'."
"There it is," you mumble. You tune out the rest of their conversation as you again speak to Mara. "Hey, does this mean we're about to meet that one funny funeral guy?" You ask, causing Mara to beam. She nods enthusiastically, "Yep!"
"I actually really like that guy, what was his name again?" You ask, wishing you'd paid attention the many times Mara had played the anime around you. You saw Sebastian's brow twitch out of the corner of your eye causing you to turn to him. "What?" "His name is the Undertaker; please do not tell me you are fond of him as you say." He says with an almost judgmental look on his face. This causes you to shrug, "The guy is goofy, I just think he's funny." You pause and grin, "What? Are you jealous or something?" You snicker causing the butler to roll his eyes. "I assure you that I am nowhere near jealous of that man." He shakes his head slightly as he speaks. That was when Ciel ordered Sebastian to go get the carriage. Ciel, Mara and you piled in, followed by Madam Red, Lau, and Sebastian, leaving Grell to drive. You were wedged between Mara and Sebastian throughout the ride. Mara was talking to you excitedly as your group made its way to The Undertakers shop.
Once arriving you exit the carriage as Madam Red immediately speaks, "Why are you familiar with this kind of place?!" Sebastian takes it upon himself to respond, "Because the person the Young Master knows works as an undertaker." You realized that you'd missed the part of the conversation where Ciel was speaking about someone who could help.
Sebastian holds open the door allowing for you all to file in. "Are you there, Undertaker?" Ciel asks into the dimly lit room. This causes laughter to immediately follow. You glance over to see Mara buzzing with excitement.
"I knew that you'd come, welcome Earl." You hear you glance to your left as you see a coffin open, revealing none other than the silver-haired man. "Do you want to see how it feels to sleep in one of my custom-made coffins?"|He pauses before glancing over towards Mara and yourself, "How about either of you?" Ciel rolls his eyes, at least you think that's what happened. "I'm not here to play Undertaker." This causes the Undertaker to chuckle, "I know why you came. Since the earl went out of his way to visit me, I'll certainly do everything I can to help." He speaks, the smile never leaving his face. "Please, take a seat first, I'll make tea," he says as he shuffles out of the room.
Mara is bouncing next to you, "I can't believe we just saw him in person, (Y/n)!" She says as she grabs your arm. "Yeah, he's a tad creepy, but you know what, I'll take this over some of the actual creeps I've met in my life." You say shrugging. Ciel sits on a coffin silently and waits for the Undertaker's return. He glances over to the two of you and you can see slight judgment over Mara's excitement. Undertaker returns, "Now then, you wanted to know about Jack the Ripper? Everyone has been scared because of this disturbance but this isn't the first time I've handled this kind of thing."
You furrow your brows, "This isn't the first time? Were the last victims prostitutes as well?" Undertaker nods while eating one of his biscuits, "In fact, the way they were killed was similar too." He pauses, "The murdered prostitutes did have something in common."
"What is it? " Ciel questions with furrowed brows. "What is it indeed." The Undertake responds with his usual grin. This causes Lau to hum to himself off to the side, "I see, that's how it is. You're very good at doing business Undertaker, how much money do you want for this information?" Almost immediately, Undertaker is in Lau's face, "Money? I don't want any of the Queen's money!" He then turns to Ciel, "Now then Earl," he approaches him, "I only require one thing. Show me a first-rate laugh! I'll tell you anything if I get it." Lau cleared his throat, "Let me handle this." You already knew the next two jokes would be horrible. That being said, while the other two were trying to make the undertaker laugh, you nudged Ciel. He looks up at you, "If you think you can succeed, be my guest." He responds, obviously not caring.
You walk up to the undertaker and motion for him to lean down, you whisper into his ear. You back away and not even two seconds later the man is cackling. You turn around and make eye contact with Sebastian who has a questioning look on his face. You shrug and return to your place next to Mara. "Dude, what did you say to him?" She asks. You side-eye her, "I literally just told him a dick joke. Men always find those to be funny." You hear Sebastian scoff beside you causing you to glance over. "What, you're different?" You ask him. "Of course I'm different, jokes of that sort are for the dull-minded." He responds. You laugh, "I guess everyone in our period is dull-minded then, well at least you have something to look forward to." This causes the demon to shake his head. Before he can speak, the undertaker begins, "The corpses were missing organs. That prostitute isn't a whole woman anymore. Because her womb is gone." Everyone, aside from Mara, Sebastian, and yourself, of course, seemed to be disturbed.
"Let's just say there aren't many people out on the streets at night. But, accurately cutting out specific organs couldn't be a normal person, correct?" Sebastian asks. The undertaker then goes on to explain how the murderer is killing his victims. "It seems that the murderer is an expert. He will keep committing crimes, he definitely will. Unless someone stops him, of course. Can you stop him? Notorious Earl of Phantomhive." The undertaker finishes. "There must be an influence manipulating him from behind," Ciel mutters to himself before walking out.
As all of you pile back into the carriage, you glance over towards Sebastian. "So, what do you think about it? Do you have any ideas yet?" You ask. Sebastian places his hand on his chin, "The murderer would have to be an anatomical expert, but also know where the police are when they commit the crime." "Where do we start? There are so many people gathered at the capital right now. Many doctors, head physicians, and medical schools could be the culprits!" Madam Red exclaims. "Then we shall wait until 'the season' is over with to investigate. As we cannot investigate clearly during 'the season.'"
Ciel then orders Sebastian to go compile a list of suspects. Madam Red's Jaw drops as Sebastian opens the door. "Please excuse me if I leave now." He says just before effortlessly hopping from the carriage. You sigh, already remembering who the murderer or murderers are. "This is going to be an annoying investigation." You mutter to yourself as the carriage continues its return to the townhouse.

Chapter 4

Word Count: 4163 //TW// abuse, strong language, violence, gore, etc. Also, the plot is going to be based on the manga!
It had been a bit since the Elizabeth debacle, and now you observed the servants (including Mara) devising a plan to halt the ongoing rat infestation. Baldroy had inspected the wires and was now voicing his discontent. "There's been an unusual number this year," Mey Rin whispered under her breath.
"It might just be because of the manor's location," you suggest, noticing a rat darting across the floor. Finny notices too and shouts, "Rat sighted!" He seizes a nearby bust statue and hurls it at the rodent. You hastily retreat a few steps to avoid the flying debris. "What the hell?!" you exclaim once the dust clears. Finny, looking embarrassed, rubs the back of his head and mutters, "Oops, it got away."
"Is that all you have to say?" you exhale sharply, Baldroy sharing your sentiment. Mara chimes in, "Have you guys attempted anything besides hurling statues at them? It can't be that hard." Bard nods in concurrence, "She's got a point! Direct confrontation is futile; we need to think strategically!" he declares, tapping his temple. "We must observe our foe and anticipate their moves," he affirms, nodding to himself. "Here's my plan—we use this!" he announces, producing a pot of his food as if from thin air. The anime logic of this world never ceases to amaze you. "On the battlefield, hunger is your worst enemy," he states with conviction.
"Hey, Bard." You speak after hearing this. He glances in your direction, "You are aware that these are rats and you're not physically fighting them, right? It's important to me that you know that." It seemed that everyone ignored your logic because Finny pulled out a cat and declared that the cat was part of his method, he also pulled a cat costume out of nowhere. "This'll scare the rat right out of the manor!" he grins at his idea.
Mey Rin motions down the hall, revealing literal dozens of mouse traps. You stare at the mouse traps, awestruck at how they were placed so quickly. "Again, the hall is now blocked by traps. what if another mouse comes along and you have to chase it?" You question, feeling like the only rational person here. Mara slaps you on the back. "Come on now (Y/n)! Have you never had to catch mice? It's difficult." She says, still missing your point. Before you can even respond, the mouse bounds past.
"Look there it is!" Finny exclaims as the others follow suit. This leads to Mara also joining in on the chaos. Tanaka is wielding a net as Mey Rin somehow ends up with mouse traps attached to her; Baldroy and Finny can't seem to stop crashing into each other. You watch as Mara runs along with them. She is running and unfortunately, she trips, and a mouse trap catches her hand. "It's got me!" She exclaims as you burst out laughing. This is the moment that Sebastian appears. You can only imagine how he feels seeing Bard running around with food, two of the five of you covered in mouse traps, and Finny running around in a costume. Not to mention that you were still laughing at your friend.
Sebastian's exhale halts your laughter. "What are all of you doing?" he asks, resembling a greatly disappointed father. His gaze shifts towards you. You shrug, wondering if he expected you to be the mature one. Sebastian seems to exhale at your gesticulation as well. Before he can utter another word, Bard speaks, "We're capturing the rats!" Sebastian turns his head to glance behind him as Ciel approaches. "Young Master." Ciel chooses to not acknowledge the chaos unfolding as he instructs Sebastian to ready a carriage for one of his guests whose name you couldn't bother remembering. Sebastian places his hand on his chest and flashes a closed-eyed smile as he agrees, "Of course. When I finish the preparations, I shall bring your afternoon tea to you. I have prepared apple and raisin dip pie for today's snack."
Ciel hums before glancing toward the servants. Choosing to ignore the chaos, his gaze lands on you. "(Y/n), between you and your friend, you are the more competent one. Do you have your 'cellular phone' with you at the moment?" he inquires. You pat your pockets, feeling the familiar weight, you nod in response, "Yup."
"Alright, let's go to my study. I'd like you to demonstrate how it functions, to the best of your knowledge, of course." He speaks. You had explained to him a few days prior that neither Mara nor you had invented it so you couldn't explain everything about it. "You got it." You respond, following him. The last thing you can hear before rounding a corner is another mouse trap snapping and Mara screaming again.
After a prolonged silence as the two of you walk down to his study, you arrive. He steps inside, you can hear him murmuring about how the manor will never have peace. He walks around his desk and out of nowhere you watch a man grab Ciel by the face, holding a cloth over his mouth. "Fucking come on now..." you grumble, the man looks up in your direction. You watch Ciel pass out, this is when you notice that he is also wielding a gun. "Damn, why Couldn't I have I just paid attention when Mara turned this anime on?" You mutter before the man points the gun at you. "You can either come peacefully or not so peacefully." He motions toward his gun. You sigh, knowing that if you fought him back, there's more than likely at least one other guy somewhere near so you'd not only be putting yourself in danger but also Ciel. You place your hands up in surrender. After all, you were a thief, not a superhero. "Bloody hell," the man mutters, "didn't think there'd be more than the boy." Unfortunately for you, you were right about a second person being present. You're soon aware that your fate is similar to Ciel's as a rag is thrown across your face. 'Damn it, Sebastian better fix this' is the last thought you have before you feel yourself slip into unconsciousness.
You awake to blinding lights and speaking. You look up to see a man with a scar across his face speaking about Ciel. You are aware that your movements are being restricted by what seems to be belts. You glance over to see Ciel having similar bindings on him. You huff as you silently begin working your way out of them. You weren't going to move unless necessary though. If you did, both of you would probably be at risk. You sigh, 'Why am I literally always in these predicaments? Is this karma?' As you begin to free yourself, the man, who you now remember as being Azzurro, begins speaking again.
"You know, the Italian Mafia finds this country bothersome. It really is a pain." Azzurro utters, glancing in Ciel's direction. You opted to remain silent and watch as he spoke, knowing that your mouth might be the death of you. After all, you were most definitely not as important as Ciel here. He scoffs, "All the English and their damn tea-stained heads. Think about it," He grins, "What's beneficial in the market for us? It's not cleaning up or carrying things, nor women, nor spare parts. It's drugs." His grin falters, "Though thanks to the watchdogs, since we arrived, we haven't been able to catch a single scent."
'It was an order from the Queen not to let dealers do as they please with their drugs." Ciel stated, keeping his cold-eyed glance on the man. The man rolls his eyes, "Come on, don't be so stubborn. This is why I hate the English. 'The Queen, the Queen, that's all you ever talk about. In the end, aren't we just sides of the same coin? I want us to cooperate a bit."
"It's not like you're any better." You grumble causing the man's eyes to snap towards you. "Ah, so she speaks!" He approaches you and crouches in front of you. "I was worried my men damaged your pretty face. Now you," He grins, grabbing your face with a hand. "Could be worth something too." "Unhand my servant, I have no intentions of conspiring with a filthy rat," Ciel says, casting a glare at the man. "I've left orders about your key. If I don't come back, my servants will be sure that the authorities get it."
Azzurro stands and glares at him before pulling out a gun and pointing it at Ciel. "If you don't tell me where it is then I'll start having your servants killed one by one!" He threatens. Ciel merely smiles in response, "Oh I think they'll be alright, but you better hope your dogs know how to play fetch."
'That cocky little shithead.' You think as you watch Azzurro raise his foot to kick Ciel. Out of instinct, you throw yourself in front of him to take the impact. Rich or not, Ciel was just a kid and you'd be damned if you stood by and let a grown man strike him like many others had done to you.
Now this probably wasn't a bright moment for you as his foot went directly to your face. Azzurro growled, now seeing that you were obviously almost unbounded. For extra measure he kicked you in the stomach, knocking the breath out of you as you involuntarily curled in on yourself for protection. He then leaned down and tightened the braces on you until it was honestly a little bit on the painful side of things. "You filthy bitch," Azzuro growled at you before turning around and grabbing his phone. As he did this you glanced up at Ciel from your spot by his feet, "Hey you okay up there?" You asked quietly. Ciel nods, he was clearly caught off guard by your actions. "Why did you do that? I would have been fine." He questions, the frown returning to his face. "Hey I'm the bodyguard, remember? I'm here to protect and serve as a Phantomhive servant." You grin at him. You knew that if you told him, it was because he was just a thirteen-year-old boy and you didn't tolerate child abuse, he'd probably kick you himself.
"Negotiations are off, kill him now!" You hear Azzurro speak very loudly into the phone. He put the phone down and turned to the two of you, grinning. "we'll see how tough the Queen's mutt is when all of his servants are killed."
You glance up towards Ciel who doesn't look the slightest bit concerned. After a moment Azzurro's phone rings. He places it to his ear and after a lull, he exclaims, "What do you mean you failed? You useless bastards! I knew I should've never hired scum like you! Return immediately!"
Azzurro then pulls the phone away from his ear and you can hear the men he's talking to screaming and talking, though you can't make anything out from where you're at. "Hey, what's going on over there?!' He yells back into the phone.
You knew that Ciel was on the verge of speaking, which would inevitably lead to his beating. Glancing at him, you shook your head in warning. "Looks like the game of fetch failed," he remarked, disregarding your silent appeal. This was going to be painful. "Yeah, maybe your men are just as incompetent as you are," you retorted, gazing up from your position on the floor. You hoped that by speaking up, he would shift his attention to you. After all, you knew you could handle a few hits. You were no stranger to situations like this.
Unfortunately, Ciel still had to take a blow, but you took many more. "You damned brat, just keep your mouth shut. And you, woman" he snarls as he lands his final kick, "Did no one ever teach you your place among men?" He growls, and you merely groan in response. He then strides over and snatches his phone again, "If one of you two mongrels doesn't respond, I'll kill you!" He shouts. He is about to speak but cuts himself off. Your head feels fuzzy from receiving several kicks, and your ears are ringing, making it difficult to hear the conversation. But you can see Azzurro looking at Ciel, who was still able to face him, with a horrified expression. "Woof," Ciel states with a smirk. As your ears ring, you can faintly make out Sebastian's voice. "Understood I assume (Y/n) is with you as well. I will be there to get you momentarily. Do try to keep her from speaking too much."
The line goes dead after that. You huff, of course, he jabs at you in a situation like this. Azzurro then begins shouting orders to his men about securing the place because of Ciel's guard dog. You sigh, you really wanted out of these restraints, but you also really didn't want to be beaten again. Alas, you decide it's for the best as you loosen your restraints. You lift your head to look at Ciel. "Man, Ciel. This is ass, you're lucky you have Sebastian. I'd loosen your restraints too, but it would ruin my master plan." You state as you soon hear gunfire. "Ciel glances at your battered face, raising a brow but not saying anything. "What? Am I too ugly to talk to now, come on man." Ciel sighs in response, "No I just believe you are an idiot for doing what you did." "Hey, I may be stupid but at least we know I'm a good distraction. You're lucky I knew to keep my mouth closed too. Usually, I'm equivalent to Deadpool in these situations" You laugh, before putting your head back on the ground, muttering to yourself. "I'm going to feel this tomorrow, like a bad gym day."
You see Azzurro point his gun towards the door expectedly as he waits to see who has been causing all the chaos. Not too long after, you can hear shoes clicking, Sebastian opens the door and steps into the room. He turns his gaze towards Ciel and then you, making eye contact with him. You flash your teeth in a grin, to which he sighs. "I am here to retrieve my master and fellow servant." He speaks as he bows. Azzurro seems surprised, "I was expecting a superhuman, not a butler in a tailcoat. Who are you really?" He questions, making sure to stay next to Ciel as he nudges your body behind him with his foot. You grunt as he continues speaking, "Are you a killer hired by the Phantomhives or an undercover officer? There's no way you're merely a butler. Regardless, if you want to save him, you'll have to go through me." Azzurro grabs Ciel and presses the gun to his head. "Wouldn't want your master to have a hole in his head, would you?
Sebastian glances down as he sees Azzurro push you back with his foot before returning his eyes to the man, "No, I am simply one hell of a butler. I assure you. Please refrain from causing unnecessary damage to the Phantomhive servants. After all, I have what you want." He says as he reaches into his tailcoat to pull out the key.
Almost immediately, a bullet flies through Sebastian's head. You cringe seeing the many others then fly through his body. But now that you are behind him, you can see Azzurro has a gun tucked in his pant line. He starts laughing as Sebastian falls to the ground, stating that he's won. He then turns to Ciel, "I won't hurt you; your organs are worth a lot. Not to mention you have plenty of enemies, I don't think you'll be alive much longer." He tauntingly presses the gun to Ciel's forehead. You use this moment to stand and use your skills to grab his spare gun without him even being aware. You firmly press it to the back of his head, "Unless you wanna take a deep breath through your fucking forehead, I'd reconsider your next words." You state, seeing the man freeze. Ciel smirks from his place before saying, "How much longer do you plan to play dead?"
"Not long," Sebastian states as he begins to stand. Azzurro doesn't speak since your gun is against his skull. "Who would've known that technology would improve this much? It's incomparable to a century ago. Guns today can shoot so many more bullets." He chuckles as he then spits out the bullets that were shot into him.
"Gross but wait till you see them in my time." You say as Sebastian flings the bullets towards the men who shot him, killing them. Sebastian then pulls the end of his tailcoat out and frowns. "Oh dear," he states, "Look what you've done to a perfectly good tailcoat." You can barely see Ciel roll his eye as he scoffs, "Idiot. You could have avoided that, are you still going to play around?" Sebastian then looks at Ciel, "Master, how unfortunate, it seems they haven't taken very good care of you, though Miss (Y/n) seems to have taken more damage. But alright," he smirks as he wipes the blood from his mouth, "I'll be serious this time. But it's been so long since I've had any fun."
Azzurro begins to yell, seemingly forgetting that you're holding a gun to his head. "You step any closer and I'll blow his brains out!" In response, you casually clear your throat while pulling the hammer on the pistol back and clicking it into place. "Remember the whole forehead breathing thing? Yeah? It still applies here." You say. Sebastian grins a bit as he steps forward. Azzurro starts to panic, "I don't care that the bitch has a gun to my head I'll still shoot him before you can blink!"
"Sebastian, I order you to come save me." Ciel states, ignoring Azzurro.
Azzurro pulls his trigger and before you have time to do the same, Sebastian is right next to you, smirking as he always is and holding the bullet. "This...This is impossible!" Azzurro states, baffled. "Should I..?" you motion to the gun in your hand.
"That's quite alright (Y/n) you've done enough. Allow me to help return the favor." He responds before speaking to Azzurro, "I believe you dropped this." He places the bullet into Azzurro's breast pocket and his arm is immediately mangled.
He grabs Ciel and places him to the side Azzurro is rambling about not dying while trying to recruit Sebastian. Sebastian ignores him and shifts his eyes in your direction, looking you up and down before speaking, "Are you capable of walking?"
You glance down, "Yeah he got me pretty good but I should be okay."
"Brilliant, I believe it's best for you to step out of the room." He states, you nod, "Yeah I agree."
You begin to limp towards the door, you decide you're going to keep the gun. As you turn the safety on and pocket it, Azzurro grabs your ankle with his one good hand, "Please I don't want to die here...!" You stare at the man and Sebastian slams his foot down onto Azzurro's arm, "Don't touch her with your filthy hands." He states before looking at you, "As quick as possible would be preferable."
You nod and walk out as quickly as you can, closing the doors behind you. You walk across the hall and slide your back down to sit on the ground. "Damn it's been a long day, Mara is going to die considering the hardest part of her day has been deciding to eat a pie or not." You grumble as you put your head back against the wall. You yawn, "Man this is exhausting." You feel your eyes start to close.
Unfortunately, Azzurro's scream stops your blissful fall into sleep.
Shortly after, the duo walks out into the hall. You look at them, eyes half-lidded. "Go team," you say unenthusiastically.
"My, my, aren't you a sight for sore eyes," Sebastian says causing you to roll your eyes in response. "Can it, I don't need your commentary right now." You grumble. Sebastian walks towards you, crouching down to pick you up. "excuse me, what the fuck are you doing?" you glare at the demon.
"Alright, up we go," he says as he hoists you up. You writhe a bit in his arms, "I swear if you don't put me down, I'll send your ass straight back to hell, I've watched supernatural I know how to exorcise!" You exclaim, he merely tsk's.
"I ordered him to, now keep quiet," Ciel grumbles flatly.
You glare at the boy too before settling. You lay your head against him before finally dozing off.
Just as soon as you fall asleep, you're awoken by Mara's annoyingly loud voice. You open your eyes to see the manor, forgetting Sebastian is holding you. "(Y/n)! Where have you been?! Were you pickpocketing and got beaten up again? Is that why you're so battered?" You'd be more annoyed if she wasn't practically bawling over this. The other servants were fawning over Ciel as well. You sigh, knowing not to say anything around the other servants. "Sure was, silly me," you grumble. Sebastian carries you inside, and Mara follows, loudly. "(Y/n), would you like me to carry you to your room or would you like to walk?" He asks.
You glance at the stares before sighing, "You already carried me here, may as well carry me to my room too."
"Very well." He responds curtly before carrying you up the stairs. As he arrived outside of your room, he turned to Mara. "I'd like to talk to Lady (Y/n) alone for a moment if you wouldn't mind waiting out here." Mara narrowed her eyes before agreeing, still slightly distraught at your state.
Sebastian walks into your room, closing the door behind him before placing you on your bed. You look at him suspiciously, "You're not going to like kill me or something...right?" Sebastian looks at you, "Of course not. I merely wanted to thank you for taking so much of the damage and protecting my master. He would never thank you. But I find it admirable that though you're not obliged you still put yourself in harm's way, going so far as to pull a gun on a man who was already wielding one."
You stare at him blankly for a minute, "And... you would? A demon. Thanking me. I think Azzurro actually did kill me. I'm dead and this is hell, makes sense."
This, again, elicits a chuckle from the demon, "I assure you this is not Hell and I am not as cruel as you think me to be. Alright, I'll leave you to your rest, Lady Mara's ear is against the door anyhow, so if you need me, you merely need to call, and I'll be here." He bows before smirking at you and quickly opening the door, causing Mara to fall into the room. "I'll bring dinner up when it is ready." Is the last this the butler says before he walks out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Mara runs to your side, examining you. "Mara, I swear to you I'm fine," you state. She looks at you, nodding after being sure you were absolutely sure. Her mood then completely flips. "Oh my God! You just got to go through a plot point!" You sigh, "It was painful."
"Painful or not, tell me everything!" She basically demands. You tell her everything, including the smackdown you took. You try to be as detailed as possible, knowing that she'd keep asking questions. "Hm, in the manga he calls Azzurro filthy for touching Ciel, how odd. That leads me to also wonder if we're in an anime or manga timeline. There's a pretty big difference. Like Alois and Claude are exclusive to the anime." Mara states, pausing, "God I hope this is the manga timeline, I do not want to meet them." You shrug, "Not sure, personally don't really care." You mutter.
"So," Mara starts as you lay your head back on your pillow, "Did Sebastian want to talk to you alone for any reason or...?" She trails off, eyeing you. "Uh yeah. Just to thank me for taking almost all the blows and putting a gun to Azzurro's head." You say, brushing it off.
Mara narrows her eyes at you, humming. "Shipping it." was the last thing she said before getting up, "I'm going to go help finish up dinner, try not to fall out a window or something, okay?" You roll your eyes, "Bitch."
"Oh, I love a supernatural reference. Jerk." She grins as she leaves your room. You roll your eyes and stare at the ceiling until you finally get the sleep you deserve.

Chapter 3

Word Count: 1775
A/N: This one is a bit short, apologies //TW// abuse, strong language, violence, gore, etc. Also, the plot is going to be based on the manga!
You could tell that Ciel and yourself felt the same way about the idea of having to participate in a dance. His reaction was a visible twitch, yours being somewhat similar. Your reaction caused Mara to snicker. She knew that you had absolutely no dancing experience, she did. "I think it'll definitely be cuuuute!" Elizabeth squealed. "You can wear the clothes I picked for you!" She then went on some small tangent on how much of a dream would be to dance with Ciel. Ciel and Sebastian eventually headed up to the study as you and Mara went along to do other things. By that, you meant that you had nothing to do so you followed Mara around while she did her thing. After a while Mara left you, saying (suspiciously) that she had to go talk to Ciel. You shrugged it off, assuming it was something non-important, and just walked around to keep yourself busy. After a whole lot of doing nothing, Sebastian spontaneously appeared right behind you. This nearly made you shit bricks when you turned around to see him. "Jesus!" You exclaimed while preventing a heart attack. This made the butler chuckle, "Not quite." You stared at him momentarily, "Oh haha, I'm not sure if you've ever been made aware but you're hilarious man." You respond rather flatly. Sebastian merely smiled, "Of course, if I couldn't do that-" You cut him off, "Then what kind of a butler would you be right?" His brows raised in response but he still kept that stupid smile on his pretty face. As you looked at him you thought, 'Calm down, (Y/n) he isn't THAT attractive.... Damn it, I'm a liar, that's for sure.' "Lady (Y/n), did you hear me?" You hear Sebastian question, dragging you out of your thoughts as you look directly at the man plaguing them. "Uh...Yes...?" You say, not wanting him to think you were intentionally blocking him out. This elicits a sigh from the man as he stares down at you. "You weren't paying any sort of attention, were you?" "No.." You sigh. "I thought not, Lady Mara took it upon herself to inform me that you have no etiquette or experience when it comes to, as she referred to it, 'Victorian ball dance things.' As a Phantomhive servant, she felt that it was necessary for you to know how to at least dance.'" You, again, stared at the butler. "Nah, I'm okay. I'm a servant, no need to go to the ball."
"My lady, it wasn't a suggestion, I agree. To be a proper servant, especially one serving closely to the young master, you must know the simplicities of our era's celebration." This causes you to groan, "Dancing is not a 'simplicity', Sebastian, especially not when you're from my era. We don't normally have any sort of 'Ball' related things." "Precisely why I, myself, will be teaching you to dance." This made you panic internally considering that lately you'd been thinking more about how attractive the butler is. "Psh, I can figure it out myself." You laugh nervously, trying to back out of it, "I'll just be a wallflower, it's all good." Sebastian shook his head, muttering, "Just like the young master." He looked up at you, "Again, my lady, it wasn't a suggestion, now if you would follow me." He turned from you and began walking, leaving no room for any protests or arguments. You grumble and follow him; this leads you to walk into a ballroom of sorts. There was a record player off to the side. Sebastian walked over to it and turned it on, and soft music began to thrum from it. He approached you and held out a hand, "May I have this dance, My Lady?" He gave his signature smile. "I'm gonna stop you there, can you please stop calling me 'Lady (Y/n)' or 'My Lady', you make me feel old." He raised a brow at you, looking rather amused. "What would you prefer?" You hesitantly took his hand, you just knew you were going to trample this poor man's feet. "Just, (Y/n), none of that prim and proper stuff." "Of course, (Y/n)."
Returning back to the task at hand, you spoke, "Sebastian, I warn you; I lack any and all forms of grace. There is no way, even with your demon abilities, you will make it out unscathed," Sebastian chuckled in response while taking hold of your hand as he began to lead you, "I assure you; I will be fine." He raised a brow as you stepped on his foot, you were just now realizing how warm his hands actually were. For some reason, you expected a Twilight vampire effect, ice cold. You figured it was the whole 'demon' thing. Lost in your thoughts over the butler, you tripped over your own feet. Sebastian steadied you, making it seem as if it didn't even happen. "You're doing very well, (Y/n). I expected much worse due to Lady Mara's description of your abilities." Sebastian says while peering down at you. "Hey, come on, I'm pretty okay at most things." You laughed. After a few more minutes, the song ended and so did your dance. The two of you stepped away from each other, "Okay, that could have been much worse." You say while grinning. "I certainly agree. I've had to dance with far worse partners." You chuckle, "Is Ciel possibly one of them?" Sebastian smiled, slightly amused, "My, you are interesting." He avoided your question. "Ah, but you didn't say 'no.'" You say grinning. He merely smiled back at you before pulling out his pocket watch, "If you'll excuse me, I must go prepare the master for his fiancée's party. It will occur back in this room shortly. If you cannot find your way back, you may simply call, and I will come to assist you and lead you back." With that, the butler took off. You decided to use this time to go check on Mara.
You manage to make your way back to the kitchen; you peek your head in to see Mara and Bard speaking to each other. Baldroy who seemingly saw your head pop in, set his focus on you and grinned. "'Ey, (Y/n), makin' it around alright?" This allows you to walk in without just disrupting their conversation. "Uh yeah, when you have a butler like Sebastian hovering, it sure is hard to get lost." You chuckle, approaching them. "Speaking of," You turn your eyes to Mara, narrowing them in the process, "Did you really have to tell Sebastian about my god-awful dancing skills?" She burst out laughing, calming down after a moment. "Well, think of it like revenge because you got to escape Lizzie's decorative wrath." You kept your eyes narrow. "How exactly is that my fault? Ciel literally made me leave with him and Sebastian." She simply shrugged in response. "Anyways, did he teach you how to dance?" She raised her eyebrows rather suggestively.
You huffed, "Not in the way you're obviously implying but yes, I destroyed his feet in the process."
"Wait he actually managed to get you to dance?" She questioned skeptically. "Well, he didn't really give me a choice. I would've probably had more of an option if you hadn't made it sound like I had absolutely no talent whatsoever." She shrugged, "You needed the assistance. Was it at least fun though?"
"I suppose it wasn't terrible." You admit. At this point, it was time for the three of you to make your way back to the ballroom, which Baldroy pointed out. If he hadn't, you wouldn't have made it on time and would have had to face the butler's wrath. Of course, as soon as you got there, Lizzie decided that she needed to dress the servants back up. Luckily she only managed to get through Bard, Finnie, and Tanaka while speaking of how excited she was. Before she could make it to Mey-Rin, Mara, or yourself Ciel had appeared at the top of the staircase followed by Sebastian.
Lizzie immediately rushed him. "You're so cuuuuute! My eyes weren't wrong!" After spinning the kid into oblivion, she gestured to the male servants, "Look! I've made everyone cute! I've let them come to the party too!" She grabbed his hand before looking down, "Huh? Ciel, where's the ring I prepared for you? There was a ring that matched the Western-style clothing, wasn't there?” She said, almost glaring at the boy. He huffed, “This ring is fine.” This led to Lizzie pretty well freaking out and demanding that he wear what she went through a lot of trouble to get. You would’ve liked to step in but you knew that would have poor results. But, knowing what was gonna happen, you began inching closer to the couple arguing. This elicited a brow raise from Sebastian and Mara staring at you, probably knowing what you were going to attempt. And wouldn’t you know it, she snatched the ring from the boy. This obviously pissed him off. “Give that back Elizabeth!” He practically growled. ”Why are you mad like that? I worked so hard…” She trailed off. Her brows furrowed, “I just made you cute so why are you mad? This ring…I hate it!” She exclaimed, throwing the ring. You quickly took off knowing that she was about to throw it. You dove for it and just barely managed to stop it from hitting the ground. Sighing in relief, you got up and shuffled away from the two. You watched Ciel raise his hand to smack Elizabeth before Sebastian spawned behind Ciel, placing his new cane into his hands. Sebastian then explained the importance of the ring. Ciel calmed down and declared that the ring wasn’t what made him a Phantomhive and propositioned Lizzie for a dance. Which she, of course, didn’t oppose. While they were dancing, you walked over to Sebastian and passed him the ring. “My, how generous of you stepping in to save the day like that.” He said amused. “We’ll, ya know, just doing my part around here.” You chuckle. “I’m my own version of ‘one hell of a butler.’ This caused Sebastian to smirk.
After everything was said and done, they had Lizzie sent home and you retired to your room and plopped onto your mattress. It had been such a long day. Yet, all you kept thinking about was the black-clad butler. This was seemingly going to be a problem. You sighed and decided it would just be best to go to sleep. So with that being said, you fell asleep to dreams of dancing and shattering rings.

Chapter 2

Word Count: 5000 //TW// abuse, strong language, violence, gore, etc. Also, the plot is going to be based on the manga!
“Holy shit,” Was the only thing you could say whilst staring at the enormous manor before you. It was starting to feel like the anime just could do no justice in comparison to seeing the real thing. You look over to Mara to see her jaw almost hitting the floor. “Oh. My. God.” She mutters, “It’s so pretty!” She immediately pulls out her phone and starts taking pictures. You were still wondering how the phones made it here with you. Or even how you made it here for that matter. Mara’s antics elicit a sigh from you and a sweat drop from Ciel. “Mara, why are you taking pictures? What if we’re stuck here forever and there’s no point?” You asked while eyeing her. “But what if we somehow make it back and then I manage to keep these pictures?” You hum in response, not wanting to remind her that there’s probably no way back if the two of you did die.
Sebastian helps Ciel out of the carriage and he walks past the two of you, ignoring Mara’s photo-taking. He walks up the steps to his manor. “I never realized how big this place is,” Mara mutters as she follows Ciel, with you following suit and Sebastian already waiting at the manor’s doors. Sebastian holds open the doors and allows the three of you to walk in. As soon as you make it into the foyer, you can hear wailing. This causes you to raise an eyebrow. Suddenly Finny comes running towards your little group holding what looks like two halves of a stick, “Young Master! I’ve accidentally broken your cane!” The poor boy was a mess. Though, hearing this this elicited a dark aura from Sebastian who is currently standing behind you. Mara and yourself, turn to glance at Sebastian, sweat dropping. “Finny, didn’t I tell you he was careful when handling the young master's things?” He said, glaring at the boy. This makes the boy hide behind you, peeking over your shoulder. “I’m sorry Mr. Sebastian, I didn’t mean to!” Sebastian sighs in response, “I suppose it can’t be helped, we’ll have to go back into town tomorrow and get the Young Master a new cane.” You heard Ciel grumble.
As if just noticing your presence, Finny turns toward you and Mara, “Oh, who are you two?” You were surprised that he didn’t freak out and act like he’d just offended two upper-class citizens. He must have noticed your outfits. “I’m the new assistant chef!” Mara announces proudly. “Yeah, and I’m Ciel’s- I mean the young master's new self-defense instructor…? You know what, I’m like his bodyguard.” You look over to Ciel, “Sorry, I feel like bodyguard sounds cooler than “self-defense instructor." 'Cause like, what do I do when you’re not learning to fight?”
”As I believe I mentioned, I could use your skills in cases, so you’ll be coming with Sebastian and me.” Ciel responded, probably grumpy that you didn't listen to him. "It’s so wonderful to have new staff!” Finny exclaimed, seemingly very excited at the idea of having other staff in the manor. Mara nodded in agreement but before anything else could be said, Ciel spoke again. "Sebastian, show these two to their rooms, show them around the manor, and introduce them to the other servants. After all, they should become accustomed to who they are going to be working with and where they will be residing." Sebastian placed his hand over his chest and bowed slightly, "Yes, my lord." With that being said, Ciel walked off, presumably to his study. Sebastian then turned to Finny, "I presume you still have work to be done, yes?" He had that damned closed-eyed smile on his face. But Finny jumped, "Yes, sir!" He then immediately took off out of the foyer. "Now then, ladies, shall we go?" Sebastian says as he turns his smile toward the two of you.
Sebastian begins his tour of the manor, showing you two all of the important places like the library, Ciel's game room, etc., With every room you visit, Mara is practically swooning. As you were walking Mara spoke up, "Hey, Sebastian, I have a request."
"Oh? And what would that be Lady Mara?"
"When you get us our uniforms, do you mind giving us pants or something instead of the typical outfits? It's pretty common for women in our time to wear them instead of skirts and stuff." She asks. "But of course, I will do my best." He responds with the usual smile.
Sebastian then led the two of you down a hall, you heard a small explosion and immediately knew where you were headed. The explosion causes Sebastian to sigh as you approach a room that now has smoke freely rolling from it. After the air clears, Sebastian leads you in. "This is the kitchen. As you can see," He motions around to the soot-covered...well, everything, "it is currently in a poor condition." He then turns to the scruffy blonde man in the middle of the room who is trying (poorly) to conceal a flamethrower. "It's certainly not in Phantomhive standard," Sebastian says, still talking to you while also metaphorically jabbing at Baldroy. "I jus' thought things would go faster if I used me flamethrower..." Bard responds, rubbing the back of his neck. After seeing Baldroy, you practically see Mara's short circuit. "Oh my god (Y/n)..." She says while jabbing you repeatedly with her elbow, "It's him!" You step away from her, glaring as you rub your arm. Before Sebastian can introduce either of you, Mara walks up to the cook. "Hi there! I assume you're the chef I'm Mara, I was hired to be your assistant!" Sebastian stands back next to you. "Is that so? Well alright! It's about time I was able to teach someone how a master cooks!" Bard says while grinning down at Mara. You swear she's going to pass out. Bard then looks up at you. You offer him a small wave, "What's up? I'm basically a bodyguard, I'm the young master's self-defense tutor. Nice to meet you." You smile as you look back around the poor kitchen. As if knowing Sebastian narrows his eye at the chef, "Baldroy, do get this place cleaned up before lunch, will you?" Bard jumps at the glare and nods, "Yeah, will do Sebastian, sorry 'bout that.' He turns back to Mara, "Well it was nice meetin' ya, I look forward to workin' with you."
You practically have to drag Mara from the room, and as soon as you exit the kitchen, you witness Mey-Rin trip into the hall with an expensive-looking tea set. You, being closest to her, actually manage to catch the dishes. You stumble but still manage to stop the poor woman from falling. Sebastian and Mara both seem surprised that you managed this. "Hey, are you okay?" You ask while looking down at the clumsy maid. She blushes in response before backing up, "Oh I'm so sorry Miss! I'm fine, yes I am! Thank you so much for catching me!" "No problem, just be more careful next time, yeah?" You say, smiling at her while handing her back the dishes. She nods rapidly, again apologizing and thanking you. It's as if she just noticed Sebastian and Mara. "Mey-Rin, you're lucky Miss (Y/n) was here to catch you or that may have been yet another tea set lost." Sebastian sighs. He seems to do this quite often. "O-Of course Mr. Sebastian!" She responds, face reddening
. "Any who, this is Miss Mara and, again, Miss (Y/n). They will be new staff in the Phantomhive manor." She looks between the two of you, "Oh, how wonderful! It's always lovely to have new staff!" After a while, Sebastian leads you away from Mey-Rin. "The two of you have already met Finny, he is the gardener. I assume you know that though, yes?" He asks, glancing back at you and Mara. "Yup," both of you nod. "Wonderful."
Sebastian continues his tour. It eventually leads to all of you being outside two grand doors. You assumed this was Ciel's study. "And here we have the young master's study. Please do not disturb him unless it's something important." As soon as he uttered that, Mara began trying to go in, you grabbed her by the back of the other shirt, "Oi, idiot, didn't you hear what he literally just said?" You shake your head. "Come on, (Y/n) it's important!" This causes you and the butler to raise a brow at her. "Really? What could be that important?" She responds to your question by holding her phone up, "...selfie?" This makes the poor butler's face contort in confusion "Might I ask, what is a selfie?" Mara grins and holds her phone up, making sure that you, Sebastian, and herself are all in the frame before she snaps a photo. She examines the picture before showing it to him, "This is a selfie. You take a picture of yourself, hence the name 'selfie.'" In the photo, your face is pretty neutral but you're still holding up a peace sign. Sebastian, however, has his brows furrowed, yet he still looks surprised seeing himself on the tiny box. You had to admit, it was a pretty cute picture "How curious..." he mutters, "However, I don't believe that a 'selfie' is important enough to disrupt my master." This response leads to Mara pouting.
"Shall I show you to your quarters?" Sebastian asks, ignoring the girl's pouting, this makes her excited. "(Y/n), what if the room is as nice as the fanfictions say it is?" She grins. "I doubt that, but we'll see. Don't be disappointed though, we're not in a fanfiction, remember?" You chuckle. Mara sighs, "Yeah, I guess."
Sebastian then leads the two of you down multiple hallways and you eventually arrive at a room. "Here we are. The two of you will have your own rooms. Though, they will be close to each other. I assumed that you would want that. My room sits across the hallway from this one." He says gesturing to the room you were in front of. He then points at the room slightly down the hall but still close, "That would be the next available room. Finnian's room is across the hall from it while Baldroy's room is next to it. Across from his room is Mey-Rin's room. And, of course, Tanaka's room is down the hall. Therefore, if either of you need anything, we are all right here." He gives another closed-eyed smile, "Preferably, come to me if you need anything. Sometimes the others aren't as...competent as I'd like to believe." He then pulls out his pocket watch, "Oh dear, look at the time." He looks back to you and Mara, "If you'll excuse me, ladies, I must go prepare the master's afternoon tea. Do call if you need anything." He turns on his heel and leaves.
You look at Mara, "So-" She immediately cuts you off, "I call dibs on the room by Bard's!" You nod your head, "Figures. I knew you would say that." She grins, but her face quickly returns to normal, "Can you believe that we're here, (Y/n)? This is crazy. Literally just yesterday, or it feels like yesterday, we were at home. We were just living our normal boring lives." You nod and contemplate for a minute, "Yeah. Do you think time stopped? Or what about your family? I just want to know how or why we're here. It's cool but, it's also scary considering that we both remember dying. Plus, we have the scars to match our deaths." You sigh and rub your forehead, "This is too much thought for my smooth brain." "I agree, let's not think about it. I'd rather not be depressed when I'm living a dream. Plus, if you keep thinking, you may hurt yourself." She 'tsked.' You immediately look at her with a glare, "You're one to talk, if we took an IQ test right now, I think I'd win." "Well, good thing standardized tests are incredibly stupid and only measure your ability to take tests." She retorts. This causes you to stare at her before sighing once again, "I guess you're right there."
"See? I'm right a lot, (Y/n), you just choose to ignore it." She pauses, "Anyways, let's check out our rooms then we can meet back up out here." Before you can even respond, she's skipping past you to her newly designated room. You shrug, before turning towards yours and opening the door; you walk in, examining your surroundings. The room was very nice for being a servant's room. Though, it was simple. It had a bathroom connected to it as well, how quaint. You'd always wondered what it would be like to have your own living area, you'd never had that before. You jumped onto the bed, it was very plush. You just lay there for a moment, thinking of how crazy this all was.
At some point, you must have fallen asleep because you heard knocking at your door. You slowly rolled out of the bed, forgetting where you were momentarily. You opened the door, "What Mara, I was taking a nap." You yawned, eyes still mainly shut. You always did this when Mara woke you up, which she did frequently, just so you could 'stay asleep.' "I'm afraid I'm not Lady Mara." You hear a low velvety voice. This makes your eyes open immediately and you groan upon seeing the butler, "So, this really wasn't just a dream, huh?" "I'm afraid not my lady," Sebastian states, peering down at your still groggy self. "I was sent to fetch you; dinner is about to be served." "Dinner? I slept past lunch?!" As if on cue, your stomach growled. "Man, I never miss a meal." You grumbled. Sebastian chuckled, "Allow me to lead you to the dining hall." You then began to follow him. As you walked, you began thinking about Sebastian. Sure, he was incredibly attractive, but you felt like you couldn't really trust him. He was, after all, a demon. Everything he showed to others was a façade. You told yourself that you should keep your guard up around him. In your zoned-out state, you didn't notice the crimson eyes that had turned in your direction, "Lady (Y/n), if I may, what is on your mind?" Not having expected him to speak to you, you jumped as you snap out of your daze. You clear your throat, "Oh, uh, nothing." He hums in response. Most of your trip to the dining hall is silent, seems that the butler didn't feel like prying. Though, right before you arrived, he spoke again.
"Lady (Y/n), it seems that the two of us will be working together frequently. If we are to get along, I'd say it's best you do not lie to me." He was looking down at you, you narrow your eyes at him for a moment. "Fine, whatever you say. In my time, I wouldn't really consider that phrase a lie though. More or less it's just not your business."
Nothing more is said as he allows your entry into the dining hall. When you enter, you see Ciel and Mara already seated and waiting. Mara is talking up a storm to Ciel, most likely about something from your time. Though, as soon as you enter, Mara turns toward you. "(Y/n)! There you are, I thought you died!" Ciel's brows furrow in response to that as you wave her off, "Yeah, yeah. Mr. Pleasant himself came and woke me up. I totally expected it to be your obnoxious ass." This makes Mara huff as she glares at you, "Hey! I'm not that bad you asshole!" Ciel seemed taken aback by your language, "You two...actually speak to each other in such a manner?" This leaves you confused for a moment before you remember where you're at. "Oh uh...yeah. In our time when you insult your friends or you're mean to them, well, that signifies that you are friends, really." You respond, shrugging. This perplexes him even more, "How does one insult their friends while still remaining friends?" This causes you and Mara to look at each other and shrug. "Not sure, it's just kind of how we roll," Mara says. "How you...roll...?" Poor Ciel. Before either of you could explain, Sebastian entered the dining hall with some covered trays. He placed them in in front of all of you before he walked around, taking the tray lids off revealing probably, no, definitely a meal that would end up on your top 10 meals list. You quickly dug into it. You were right. This was definitely one of the best things you've ever eaten.
After dinner was over, Ciel excused himself and went back to his study. That kid probably overworked himself. Sebastian ever so graciously offered to take the two of you back to your rooms. Mara, however, declined, she said she was going to go "get familiar with the kitchen." AKA, flirt with Baldroy, probably. She said she would have him show her back considering his room was next to hers. This left you to take the long ass hike back with the creepy butler. Fantastic. After a moment of walking, you glanced at him, he had apparently done the same thing. This causes you to clear your throat as you attempt conversation to hopefully break the awkwardness. "So, uh, why do you have a room? You don't sleep, do you?" Sebastian chuckles in response to your question, "No, my lady, I do not sleep. The young master thought it would be best to give me a room so I could 'blend in.' It would be rather suspicious if the butler didn't have a room, no?"
"Huh, guess I didn't really think of that. Must get boring though." You shrug. He simply smiles, "I do manage to keep myself quite entertained, I assure you. It isn't 'boring' when it's what you're accustomed to doing, My Lady."
You hum in response. After another minute, he stops in front of what you assume is your room. everything in this damn place looked so similar. "Now remember, My Lady, if you have any requests or you need me, I am across the hall." Ah, the nice fake smile. Though you did have to admit, he was still incredibly attractive. even if you didn't like the fakeness. You must've been staring for a moment; you snap back to reality. "Oh, uh yeah, sure. Hey, I actually have a request for you." He looks down at you, "Yes, my lady?"
"Stop calling me 'My Lady', I'm not a noble or anything." You state. "Unfortunately, I cannot honor that. For, it would be rude and most certainly not up to the Phantomhive standards if I did not speak to a lady the way she deserves to be spoken to. And if I couldn't do that much, what kind of a butler would I be?" Mara would've shit if she heard the man utter one of his many catchphrases... You, however, just sigh "Alright, fine." With that, Sebastian bids you good night and walks down the hall as you enter your room. The first thing you do is go to the wardrobe in the room and look in. You could see that he had done as Mara requested as you had multiple pairs of black slacks and some long-sleeved and short-sleeved white shirts. You also had a few black overcoats to put on, they looked like Sebastian's minus the tailcoat portion. Plus, black flats lie at the bottom of the wardrobe as well. "Great so I'm gonna look like a mini-Sebastian." You mutter to yourself. You then see that there is a nightgown in the closet. "There's no way in hell I'm wearing grandma's nightgown..." You shrug and decide that you'll just sleep in your T-shirt and underwear. You strip and make your way over to the bed before flopping in it and situating yourself. Not long after, you're out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You awake to the sounds of your curtains being moved. You creak your eyes open only to have light suddenly blind you. You hiss and pull the blanket over your head. "What's the meaning of this?" You grumble from under the blanket. "Oh dear, it seems that I neglected to mention that the young master wished for you to accompany us into London to retrieve his new cane." You can practically hear his smirk as you groan. You pull your head from under the blanket, "What about Mara?" You stare at him, still squinting in the light. "She will be staying here to assist Baldroy today." You sigh, left alone again. "Of course, she will." Sebastian places a tray on your bedside table, "I've brought you breakfast, do you need assistance getting dressed this morning?" You immediately flush, "What? No! I'm a grown-ass woman, I know how to get dressed! Did you ask Mara this too?! "Of course not, Lady Mara informed me last night that she was perfectly capable of dressing herself. She told me that she wanted to inform me before I asked. She did, however, say that you were 'hopeless and clumsy' and that I should be sure."
You narrow your eyes and growl after hearing that. "I'm gonna kick her ass..." You quickly eat the meal he brought. You then look back to the butler, wondering why on earth he hadn't left yet. "Alright, be gone demon, I can dress myself." You make a shooing motion with your hands. Sebastian partially bows before exiting the room. You sigh as you decide to get up and dress yourself first. You take your shirt off as you hear the door open again. "I forgot to mention the young master wanted me to lead you to-" You see Sebastian lean into the room a bit; his eyes widen ever so slightly at your state, "Meet up with him at the front door when you are finished." Your response is to immediately grab the closest object near you, a pillow, and launch it at the man. It hits him square in the face. "Get out of here will you!" He retreats and closes the door as you throw another pillow, this time missing him. The door closes and you grumble loudly, still flustered, "Damn no privacy in this fucking place." After a few minutes, you're fully dressed. You walk into the bathroom and fix your hair accordingly before stepping out of your room to see the man of the hour in the hall. He smiles at you as if he didn't just see you half-naked. Your face flushes a bit as you glare at him.
"Shall we go, My Lady?" Sebastian asks. You follow him begrudgingly. "Hey, word of advice, next time, knock, you asshole." You say while you struggle to catch up to him with his long ass legs. "You seem to be mistaken; I did knock. You must have just not heard me." He flashes his smile. "Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you did..."
The rest of the walk to the foyer was pretty quiet aside from the sound of your footsteps. You arrive to see Ciel waiting with a scowl. You couldn't necessarily tell if he was angry, he really did have a bad case of resting bitch face. "What took you two so long?" He questioned. "Your butler didn't tell me that I would be accompanying you on this fine morning, my lord." You say, thinking that was a pretty reasonable excuse. The only response you get is a 'tsk.' The three of you make your way outside and Sebastian assists Ciel into the carriage, you decline, knowing that you can hop in by yourself. He closes the door and hops into the driver's seat before the carriage pulls away from the manor. You watch as it gets smaller. It was almost refreshing to be able to watch as the trees go by along with just seeing the beauty of the area around you. After a while, you begin seeing buildings, this signifies to you that you're approaching London.
Another few minutes roll by and you arrive in London. Not long after, the carriage is stopped and pulled to the side of a road. Sebastian then opens the doors and assists Ciel, you allow him to help since you're in public and you didn't want to look indecent for Ciel. You get out and take the chance to look around. It was so strange to see this in comparison to what you were used to. The three of you walk into the shop and you can see a balding old man with glasses sitting behind the cash register's desk. "Welcome boy, on an errand for your father?" Ciel glares but before he can say anything Sebastian offers his signature smile before saying, "Excuse me, we came to get master's cane." The man takes the ticket that Sebastian pulled from his pocket before turning and searching before pulling out the Ciel-sized cane. "Exactly what sort of person do you intend to use this cane?" He asks as he hands it over to Sebastian, "It couldn't be that kid-"
The shop owner's sentence is cut short when Sebastian quickly points the cane at his face, neatly hitting him. He’s holding it probably less than an inch away. This makes you snicker, Ciel is already turning to leave. "It doesn't bend. This is a well-built cane." Sebastian says, "This should cover it." He says, leaving a bag of money on the counter. As you're walking back to the carriage, you hear Ciel talking about Finny's idiocy and Sebastian stating that Ciel did, in fact, grow. It was just slow. You turn your head away from their conversation as you see a child praising a stuffed rabbit. If you remember correctly, that was the rabbit made by Ciel's company. The three of you then arrive at the carriage and begin the journey back.
Surprisingly, Ciel breaks the silence. "I never did ask, how do you and your friend know so much about us?" He questions, his eye boring into yours.
"Oh, uh well that's a bit confusing as well. You see, you guys are part of something called "anime" where we come from." you respond to the best of your extent. The boy, not surprisingly, looks mildly confused. This produces a sigh from you. "Look, the only way I can explain it is that it's a type of animation from Japan. I can't really make it any simpler due to the technology differences in our time."
Ciel merely hums in response before turning his gaze out the window of the carriage. You do the same, realizing it's the end of that conversation. After a while, you arrive back at the manor. You jump out of the carriage. As you walk up the stairs, nearing the door you hear Ciel telling Sebastian to bring tea to his study. Sebastian holds the door open as Ciel walks in, "Very good, young master. I will have the tea prepared shortly." Ciel suddenly halts in his tracks, "My mansion..." you hear him mutter. His sudden halt causes you to bump into him. You furrow your brows and look up, also having stopped walking. Your eyes widened and your jaw dropped. "What the fuck..."
"What's wrong-" Sebastian cuts himself off as he sees all the pink and frills around the foyer, not to mention the numerous stuffed animals.
"SEBASSSSTIANNNN!" You can hear multiple people screaming. You turn to see the servant trio plus Tanaka running in your direction, but no Mara in sight. "What is with your ridiculous appearance?" Sebastian says, referring to Baldroy, Finny, and Tanaka. Finny had rabbit ears on, Baldroy was in an arrangement of frills, while Tanaka donned a blonde wig and a pink dress. "Go ask the crazy lady!" Bard grumbled. The crazy lady? Oh. It had suddenly clicked; you had forgotten all about Elizabeth's first appearance. Ciel and Sebastian approached the door with you following slightly behind. You look in to see Mara in a poofy white dress, her hair is tied up and she plastered in makeup. "You're so cute!" You hear Elizabeth. This causes you to snort out a laugh, she looked like a toilet bowl brush. Elizabeth turned at the sound and immediately went to tackle Ciel. Mara heard this too a placed a glare in your direction. "CIIIIELLLLL!" she hugs him, "I wanted to see you so badly!" Ciel seemed so confused. "E-Elizabeth!"
"Just call me Lizzie!” She exclaims, “Just as thought, no matter how many times I look at you, You're the cutest!” She pulled away from Ciel as she turned to the butler. "Sebastian, good day." The butler bows, “It's been a while since I've laid eyes on you.” She smiles in return. “I’ve brought you a souvenir too! See?” She places a bright pink bonnet on his head. “You’re always wearing all that black so I thought that color would look good!” That’s it, you can’t hold it anymore, you burst out laughing. This causes Sebastian to send you a cold glare. Immediately silencing you. “What are you doing here?” Ciel questions. “I missed you so I came to see you in secret!” She beams at him, clearly proud of herself and her accomplishments. “What were you thinking?” Ciel mutters. Baldroy leans close to Sebastian, “Who is this girl?” Sebastian glances at him before responding, “Lady Elizabeth is the master’s fiancée.” This causes the servants to freak. “Fiancée?!” As Sebastian spoke to the servants, you approached Mara. “We’ll don’t you look pretty.” You grin at her. “Oh shove it you ass.” You laugh, “No, no I’m serious, you look like a Q-tip had sex with a toilet brush.” You burst out laughing. Mara punched you in the shoulder as you settled back down just in time to hear Elizabeth say, “Let’s have a dance party today!”
What.

Chapter 1

Pairing: Sebastian Michaelis x reader
A/N: This will probably be on the longer side, I've been posting it on a03 as well.
Summary: //TW// abuse, strong language, violence, gore, etc. Also, the plot is going to be based on the manga! (Y/n) (L/n) was a relatively anti-social twenty-one-year-old. She had no real family, and she was really only close to one person, that person being Mara Kline. They were so close, in fact, that they did everything together. They would shop together, eat together, and most importantly (for Mara anyway), they watched Black Butler together. The two girls owned an apartment together, making this moderately easy. Mara had a very large hyper fixation on the anime, she was quite literally obsessed. One day, the two of them are riding around in Mara's vehicle. Mara, not paying quite as much attention as she should have been, allowed the two of them to get hit by another car. (Y/n) could have never imagined that this accident would cause the two of them to wake up in a familiar, yet unfamiliar setting. Nor could she have foreseen how it would change her life.
Word Count: 5475
Your eyes snap open as your alarm clock screams at you to get up after hitting snooze multiple times. Though, that wasn't what caused you to open your eyes. You had felt a weight on your bed. And as you squint through the sun's blinding rays, you can make out a silhouette. Mara is hovering over you holding a pillow as if she was going to smother you in your sleep, her dark hair dangling and framing her face as she eyed you. Her golden eyes were wide, apparently, she hadn't expected you to wake up before she ended your life. You groggily grab the pillow next to you, and you swing it blindly in the direction that you believe her to be in. You successfully nail her in the face with your pillow. You hear an "Oof!" as she backs away from your half-awake form. You sit up from your bed stiffly like a vampire from its coffin as you glare in her direction.
"Mara?" You question.
"Yes, (Y/n)?" She responds as if she had been doing nothing wrong.
"What the fuck?" You say as you finally blink the sleep from your eyes, staring at her. You can virtually see a halo over her head. "Well, you wouldn't quit hitting snooze on your alarms so, I only saw one reasonable solution." She smiles at you innocently. "Your reasonable solution was to just smother me in my sleep?" Your eyes narrow in her direction as she grins in response.
This was the dynamic of your friendship. You could remember meeting Mara like it was yesterday. You had grown up in a pretty broken neighborhood, not many "good guys", so to speak. You weren't so good either. Whereas Mara was more fortunate and grew up pretty happy.
You had only met Mara about two years beforehand. The two of you met under some rather, unfavorable conditions. You grew up in a pretty shitty home, your father was a wanted murderer. Your parents were very neglectful; thus, you were always forced to sneak out of the house just to be free of them. By the age of seven, you became a great pickpocket due to your parents' neglect. You were rarely caught. Almost. The few times you had been caught ended up pretty ugly, you would end up being assaulted whether it be verbal or physical. You would acquire bruises and sometimes worse from the people you'd steal from. Worse treatment could be expected after your parents would find out. This worsened their neglect towards you as you essentially grew up without any form of love. You had plenty of scars and mental scars that you had acquired from your childhood. Though, you really just viewed them as growth points now. All of those experiences led you to the place in life that you were currently living in.
By the age of sixteen, you ran away. You began your own form of living. At this point, you were virtually undetected, you could steal from almost anyone and they never even noticed. You had become a great thief, so then, you can imagine how great you were by the age of eighteen. You were virtually undetectable now. And not to toot your own horn but, you were also considered quite the escape artist now if you ever were caught. You can get out of almost any situation now.
But, back to Mara, the two of you still went to the same school but you were hardly ever present. You saw no point in attending. Though, your thievery was actually how you ran into Mara. As mentioned, she grew up rather well, meaning, she grew up with semi-wealthy parents who were never home. This naturally made her one of your targets at some point. She had just been jubilantly walking down the street, listening to music as she went. Though, she had been taking a different route home than normal, why? Her justification was a shrug and a simple 'I was bored, duh.' Anyhow, you had seen her inattentively making her way down the street. Mara was a very beautiful bronze-skinned woman, as aforementioned, she also had dark hair and golden eyes. She got quite a bit of attention.
Anyways, you'd noticed how well she was dressed and some of the items she had with her, as she went by, you also eyeballed a rather expensive necklace dangling from her pocket. Why? Again, the response to this after you'd asked her was a shrug, she said a guy she didn't much care for gave it to her, so she didn't care for it much either. This resulted in you snatching it from her pocket. But Mara was incredibly aware as she felt the weight of the necklace leaves her pocket. Though she didn't care for the necklace, she would be damned if she would allow someone to take something of hers. So, you briskly made your way down the street, not running, so as not to draw attention to yourself. Instead of calling for help a few minutes later as people typically did, you heard footsteps approaching you quickly. You spared a glance over your shoulder to see Mara charging full speed in your direction. You underestimated how fast this damn girl could run as you took off too. Mara was very well-versed in cardio and long-distance running.
You, however, were not.
Meaning, she caught up to you and practically tackled you to the ground. At the time, you'd been wearing baggy clothing and a hood over your head to make it incredibly difficult for others to determine your gender. Which seemed pretty important. Anyways, she had tackled you and flipped you over. You had expected her to start pummeling you the second she flipped you due to her weirdly strong nature. That wasn't the case because as soon as she pulled off your hood, she recognized you. "Hey...you're that girl from school. Don't we have a few classes together?" So instead of calling the cops on you, like she probably should've, she told you that she wouldn't call them on one condition. That being that you had to tell her why you stole from others. Since you'd have rather not had the cops up in your business, you gave her a brief rundown, minus all the abuse and such. Anyway, this encounter somehow allowed the two of you to become friends. You believe it was because (F/n) pitied you, she disagrees though, she said she was just interested in you.
This leads you to the point you're currently at, in your shared apartment as you glare at your friend for trying to assassinate you in your sleep over alarms.
You shake your head as you slide out of bed. "I was getting to it." You grumble as Mara just shakes her head, "You were not, you always say that. Anyways, you remember what today is, right?" She beams. "Of course, how could I forget?" You say while quirking a brow, "It's your birthday." That's right, it was Mara's birthday, meaning that she was now the same age as you. The two of you had roughly, a six-month age gap. So, nothing too large. "Meaning?" Mara questions excitedly.
"Meaning that just like the past two of your birthdays that I have spent with you, you're going to subject me to watching as much Black Butler as we can within a few hours while you fawn over Baldroy. Then, I'm going to take you to an anime merch store so you can find something either Black Butler related or just anime-related in general, that you absolutely need to have. So, then you can remind me that it is, in fact, your birthday so I can buy it for you." You state, smiling at her. The both of you only worked part-time due to Mara's parents literally paying for your apartment and virtually any essentials that either of you would need. So, your money was pretty much just "spending money", as Mara says.
She nods her head enthusiastically, you never understood how she could be so excited about doing the same thing that she does almost every day. You mentally shrug, not caring very much as long as she is happy. She quickly begins to move around your room, which was her preferred place to binge anime for some reason, as she sets things up for the two of you. As she was doing this, you went into the kitchen and proceeded to make yourself a bowl of cereal. When you arrived back at your room, the first episode was already on and paused. You walk in and you sit down next to her. She quickly, and rather excitedly hits play. You had watched this series enough times to practically be able to quote it. But who were you to deny (F/n) of this joy? As soon as Sebastian had started speaking on the screen, Mara said, "Hey, did you know that Sebastian's name is extremely similar to Sebastien Michaelis's, he was a French author from the 1600s who wrote a classification of demons in Hell." She always had some sort of fun fact for you as you watched.
After watching for about three hours, you had just finished the episode "His Butler, at the Funeral", Mara decided that was enough for the moment. She always hated seeing Madam Red die, it was one of her least favorite Black Butler moments. She rolls over on her bed and huffs before groaning. This causes you to raise an eyebrow at her. "What?"
This causes her to turn to look at you, "They always kill my favorite characters." She says as she pouts. "Mara, you've seen the anime more times than I can count, you knew she died."
"I know...It's just sad. She didn't deserve it."
You shrug, "Well that's what happens when you start murdering people."
"She had a reason though!" Mara whined.
"Not a very good one, in my opinion. Now then," you say as you rise to your feet, "It's about midday now, do you want to go shopping? On our way back, we can get you a cake."
"Ice cream cake?" She asks as if you didn't already know that she wanted an ice cream cake rather than a regular cake.
"Yes. I will get you an ice cream cake, Mara." You respond while ushering her out of your room so that she can get changed.
The two of you get changed into more presentable clothing and then convene in the living room. "Oh! I wanna drive!" Mara smiles. "It's your birthday, shouldn't I be the one driving? You, letting you relax and such?" You respond, to which she replies with a shrug. "I just want to, you always drive. My birthday, my rules." She says grinning. You hold your hands up in mock surrender, "Whatever you say dude."
You follow Mara out to her vehicle, she drives a black, 2011 Mustang. You loved her Mustang. It was just…nice. The two of you usually just shared her vehicle as well, other than work, you guys usually just traveled together. She hopped in the driver's seat, and she waited for you to follow suit. You climbed into the passenger seat and threw your seat belt on. “Alright, off we go,” Mara says, reversing. She whips her car out of the parking lot and drives down the street. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, Mara drives like she is absolutely fucking crazy. It's a wonder that she has never gotten either of you killed. Hence why you typically choose to drive. It was better for your health.
After a seemingly endless, dangerous drive to the mall, the two of you managed to make it in one piece. Mara pulled the Mustang into the mall's parking lot. After parking the car, the two of you proceeded to get out and walk into the mall. Mara was already vibrating with excitement. You always saved plenty of money for her birthdays. In your mind, it was somewhat like repaying her for pulling you onto this new path of life that you walked. Mara and you began to bounce between all the anime shops. She was like a kid in a candy store, her eyes were practically glowing. She ended up purchasing a Demon Slayer poster, a tiny Itadori Yuji plush from Jujutsu Kaisen, and she had somehow managed to find a Baldroy Figure. He was holding a flame thrower and grinning with a closed-eyed smile. If there was something that anyone needed to know about Mara, it was that she adored Baldroy. He was by far her favorite character. You thought it was cute. You, personally, didn't really have a character preference when it came to Black Butler. You loved the servants. But you could see the pros and cons of almost every other character and therefore chose to remain neutral with your character opinion. Now, you love anime too. You just couldn't say you love it as much as your friend here does.
After a while of walking, the two of you stopped to have a bite to eat at the food court, you chose to get Chinese. After eating, Mara demanded that you read the fortune from your cookie out loud to her. Her request caused you to roll your eyes, but she reminded you that it was her birthday and she deserved 'princess-like treatment.' You broke the cookie and skimmed it before reading it aloud, "'A life-changing event will occur soon and you will reap fruit from it.' There, happy now?" She nods before also reading hers out loud, "'Land is always in the mind of flying birds.' I don't even know what that means." Mara mutters. "It means you never realize what you miss until you're flying away for it. Kind of like how your parents go on trips all the time but then complain that they miss home," You shrug, "They're all just generic fortunes anyways. I don't believe they have much relevance."
After you both finished eating you decided it was time to make your way back home. Not before stopping to pick up the ice cream cake, you had ordered from a local shop first. Heading out of the mall, the two of you got back into Mara's car and after a short trip, you had arrived at the cake shop. You directed Mara to stay in her vehicle whilst you went in to grab the cake. You actually knew the owner of the shop fairly well, he was around your age, maybe a few years older. His name was Santos, a very tall, friendly man with quite a passion for baking.
You went into the shop, making small talk with Santos for a few minutes before he made his way back to the shop's freezer to grab your cake. After a moment, he walks back to the register, setting the beautifully decorated cake down. You paid for the cake, thanking him before heading back out to Mara's car.
She seems very delighted after seeing the cake. "It's so pretty! He always does such a great job!" She praised the baker. You agreed. Then, the two of you began your journey back to your shared apartment. As you approached a stoplight, the two of you had heard sirens, you really thought nothing of it. Again, you still lived somewhat close to a bad neighborhood. The light shifted from red to green. Mara, not thinking anything of it, drove forward, again, she is kind of a reckless driver. She pulled forward very quickly, your gaze quickly turned out the passenger window as you heard the sirens blaring again. However, now they sounded too close. As you turn your head you see a large red truck absolutely flying in your direction. You could now see where the sirens were coming from, your eyes widened in horror as you watched the truck approach you way too quickly. Before you could even utter anything, the large truck slammed into your side of the vehicle. This caused Mara's Mustang to actually roll due to the force and speed that came at it. Glass and pieces of the car flew everywhere, and you felt several pieces fly into you. You, somehow still conscious but very much in pain, looked down to see a large piece of glass embedded in your chest. That was the last thing you saw before the Mustang landed its final roll leaving the two of you suspended upside down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You look around, only to see darkness. It felt almost as if you were floating. It was an endless void. Then suddenly, you can hear a multifarious voice whisper in your ear.
"...gift...life..."
This left you confused, as you couldn't make anything else out of it. But as suddenly as you heard it, it was gone. After what seemed like a few more minutes, you suddenly see a very bright light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It felt like your head was splitting, causing you to groan, immediately registering the hard ground underneath you. You felt as if you didn't even have the energy to open your eyes. Therefore, you simply lay as you were for a moment. That was until you heard a very familiar voice groan as well. Mara. Suddenly, memories of the crash that you'd endured flash through your mind. Your eyes snap open, and you immediately sit up, looking down at your chest to see a fairly long vertical scar. "What's...going on...?" You mutter to yourself. "(Y/n)...?" You can hear Mara's question; you look around the room you're in only to realize you are in a cell... What the fuck? You see Mara lying across the cell from you. "Mara..." you say as you attempt to make your way to her only to realize that it feels like your body is made of Jell-O. She looks up after hearing your voice. She blinks a few times, apparently wondering the same thing as you.
"Mara?"
"Yes, (Y/n)?"
"Why on god's glorious green planet are we in what really looks like a jail cell?"
"I would really like to give you an answer to that one. But unfortunately, I'm at a loss."
After a few minutes, you realize you can actually feel your limbs now. You stand and stretch, "You remember what happened too, right? I'm not crazy?" You turn towards your friend. She hesitantly nods, "No I definitely remember my beautiful baby flipping. I also distinctly remember bashing my head in. when it happened." This causes you to nod, "I had a huge ass piece of glass that went right into my chest, and now..." You paused momentarily, looking back down at your chest, "It's like it happened but...it didn't? I clearly gained a scar from it." You looked back to Mara, approaching her. "You say you hit your head, right?" You asked, to which she nodded. You move her hair to the side as you see a scar that honestly kind of looks like Tanjirou's scar. "Dude, you kind of look like a whole ass main character right now." You say, examining the newfound scar. It seemed that there were no other new scars that had appeared either. "Oh my god! (Y/n)!" Mara exclaimed suddenly.
"What?" You asked, startled. "We never got to eat my cake!"
You sigh rather loudly, "That is definitely not what you should be focused on right now."
"So how are we here then?" Mara questions after regaining composure over the lost treat. "Well, let's think logically here." You say, thinking of any possible way that you could be here.
"There is no logic in this situation (Y/n)." Mara deadpans. "Apparently we should be dead but yet here we sit in a prison cell! You don't think that..." She pauses, trailing her words. "Oh my god (Y/n), we're in Hell!" She jumps up, clinging to you and immediately wailing. It's honestly comical. Mara continues, "I thought you would end up here because you're an asshole but...me?! I'm too pretty for hell!"
You swear that in this moment she almost looks like an anime character. Something was obviously super fucked up here. "What do you mean that you thought I would end up here?!" You exclaim, immediately shoving off your distressed friend.
Apparently, the two of you screaming at each other was considered obnoxious. You soon heard footsteps. A bearded man approached your cell, "Shut up you lot! You'll be interrogated soon enough." You noticed that the man was wearing a very old-fashioned policeman's outfit. Like the weird tall hat, the button-down jacket, and all. You also noted the strong seemingly British accent he had. Mara's sobbing was immediately halted and with that, he walked away.
You slowly turned to her; she did the same. "What the actual fuck...!" You whisper-yelled. "He was dressed like an old cop dude!" Mara whisper-shouted back. You both stared at each other for a moment, absolutely perplexed. As you sat in silence, you heard another pair of footsteps approaching your cell. Scratch that, it sounded like at least two people walking. The two of you locked eyes and stayed silent. After a moment, two guards showed up. They unlocked your cell, immediately putting cuffs on you. This caused you to huff and roll your eyes. You definitely did not like being handcuffed and could easily get out of them. But you knew Mara couldn't, so you decided to play nice and just follow the apparent officers. "Hey, why are we under arrest?! We were never given our rights or a cause!" Mara exclaimed. The officers just acted as if she wasn't even speaking. This caused Mara to grumble something about 'shitheads' under her breath. They led the two of you into a relatively large room with a wooden table in the middle. There were three chairs currently set up, two on the side closest to you and adjacent one on the other two. The officers had the two of you sit in the two chairs and gave no instruction other than to wait because whoever you were apparently going to be talking to was due to arrive soon.
After they left the room Mara turned to you, "So, does this bring back any fond memories?" She asked with a shit-eating smile on her face. "Oh ha. Ha. Good one Mara, you're really a comedic genius, ya know?" You said with a flat voice and no expression on your face. This made her laugh, it's crazy how even in the worst situations, the two of you couldn't be serious at all. "So, I know you can get out of cuffs, why didn't you? You could have totally kicked those guys asses."
You shrug in response, "I'd have to leave your ass behind and if I ever came back for you, I would have never heard the end of it." Before Mara could even give some sort of a response back, the two of you could hear keys being inserted into the door that you'd previously entered through. The two of you stared at each other before slowly turning to the door.
"Right this way sir, they're in here." You heard one of the officers say. You saw the door open, and the officer let the guy he was talking to in. Your jaw nearly hit the floor. You whipped around to Mara to see the actual stars in her eyes. You knew this place was off! Other than the obvious dying and awakening here, this place seemed strange. The Officer let in someone who looked dead onto Ciel Phantomhive. He was adorned in his top hat and his overcoat cape thing. Right behind him, his stoic butler. And may I just say DAMN. There was literally no reasonable explanation for what you were witnessing right now. This had to be some sort of a joke. But how could it be when you had felt yourself die?
The Ciel doppelgänger took a seat across from Mara and yourself as the officer left the room. You were honestly surprised Mara hadn't said anything yet, glancing at her, she seemed speechless. She probably couldn't think of anything to say. That's rare. You remained quiet as the kid's cyan eye scrutinized the two of you. You glanced at the butler behind him, seeing that he was indeed doing the same. You broke the silence after a moment, "So, uh, what the fuck is going on?" The boy and his butler looked taken aback by your language for a moment before doppelgänger Ciel responded, "Who are you and where do you come from?"
Your eyebrows rose for a moment. You then narrow your eyes at the kid, "Uh-uh short stuff, I asked you a question first, you snooze you lose." This caused the boy to glare at you, not liking the perfectly suited nickname that was acquired. "I'm interrogating you; I'll be asking the questions."
Mara piped up, "Well, she did ask first. She can be pretty persistent; I promise it's just safer if you answer her first. Trust me." "Ciel" glanced at his butler before he resumed glaring back at you. "The two of you are suspected of being foreign spies. You were discovered in an alleyway in London. You were speaking incoherently, and the authorities were called on you. You were assessed based on your clothing and the strange flat glass boxes found on you. They were assumed to be weapons and you were assumed to be foreign spies. Thus, we were called. I am Ciel Phantomhive, the Queen's Guard Dog. This is my butler, Sebastian Michaelis."
Flat glass boxes...? Oh my god, your phones. No way.
"Now I've answered your question, you're required to answer mine." You looked at Mara, wide-eyed. She looked like she was about to burst a blood vessel. "Um okay, but you probably won't believe us, we're-" You were cut off by Mara. "HOLY SHIT! ARE YOU REALLY CIEL PHANTOMHIVE?? THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!"
This elicited a sigh from you, it was only a matter of time. She had been a ticking bomb since they'd walked in. "E-excuse me?" Ciel was taken aback by her sudden yelling. Sebastian seemed to feel similarly. You maneuvered your hands out of the cuffs you were wearing, unlocking with ease. You hadn't even realized you'd done it. You quickly slapped a hand on Mara's mouth, preventing any more shrieking. Sighing again, you spoke, "See, I was getting to that part."
"How did you-" Ciel questioned astonished as he saw your currently free hands, Sebastian having his eyebrows raised as well. You cut him off by holding up a finger, "I'm gonna give you the run down, it's gonna sound crazy but at this point, I feel like I am. My name is (Y/n) (L/n) and my friend, Mara Kline, and I are seemingly from a universe that you don't technically exist in. You guys are fiction. Our universe or time period or whatever, I don't know, I'm not a scientist, is at least 120 years ahead of this one as well. We were in a fatal accident, at least that's how we remember it. We both remember dying. Then, like magic, poof! We wake up in the jail cell those assholes housed us in." You tried to make it as short and sweet as you possibly could.
Ciel was silent, eye widened. He looked at his butler, Sebastian seemed fairly surprised as well, he looked like he wanted to say something. "Young master, if I may?" He asked for permission. Ciel nodded. "What evidence do you have to support this statement?"
This caused you to quirk a brow as you locked eyes with the butler. "Really? The outfits aren't a giveaway? Neither are the accents and terminology that we've been using?" You heard Mara's muffled speaking coming from under your hand now as well. You turn towards Mara, "Alright, Mara, I'm going to take my hand off of your mouth now. No screaming, you got it?" You felt her nod in response. You slowly remove your hand. She takes a breath, "First of all, I can't believe I'm meeting you guys! It's a dream come true!" She exclaims while smiling, "Secondly, you mentioned, 'strange flat glass boxes', correct?" Ciel nodded in response. "Well, those will have all the proof you need. They're not weapons, they're our cell phones."
Ciel's brows furrowed as he looked at his butler, who also looked confused. "What is a... cell phone?" Ciel questions. "Well, the technical term is a mobile or portable phone. It enables a user to communicate almost anywhere in the world. They could be considered similar to how you use letters." You answer matter-of-factly. They still seemed lost. Mara sighed, having calmed, "Do you know where they are?"
"Sebastian."
"Yes, my lord."
Sebastian pulled out your phones from one of his pockets before handing them to you. Mara attempted to grab hers, but she was still unfortunately handcuffed. She pouted. This left you to show your phone to the boy and his butler. They were astonished as soon as you'd turned it on. You explained a few simple concepts to them while allowing them to see and hold the device, proving that it wasn't a threat.
They seemed content after a few minutes. Well, as content as anyone could be in their situation. Sebastian's eyes went down to your uncuffed wrists, and he said, "By the way, Miss, (Y/n), was it? Pray tell, how did you manage to get your handcuffs off?"
"Oh right! That reminds me," You turned toward Mara, seemingly pulling the handcuff key from thin air, "Let me help you." You unlocked Mara's cuffs, and she immediately pocketed her phone, grateful they didn't see hers due to the amount of Black Butler content on it. Ciel, again, looked shocked, "How did you acquire that key." You shrug, "No one really pays enough attention." You responded. Mara grinned in response, "Who knew that your skills would help us one day?"
That definitely piqued the Earl's interest. "Skills?" He inquired. "Oh, it's nothing." You respond. "Nothing?" Mara chimed, "Ol' (Y/n) here is a professional thief." This caused you to sigh and drag a hand down your face.
"Mara?"
"Yes, (Y/n)?"
"Remember when I had a conversation with you explicitly saying that you probably shouldn't just tell people that?"
"Oh."
"Yeah."
Ciel had been having a silent conversation with his butler while your banter was occurring. He cleared his throat, causing the two of you to look at him. "I have decided that since the two of you are, in fact, not from this time period, nor this universe, you will be coming back to my manor with me." Mara almost lost it. She was pretty much bouncing in place. You sighed.
"(Y/n), you will now be my 'self-defense' personal trainer from now on. Somewhat of a guard. If you can escape that easily while also being undetected, I want you to be with Sebastian and me on cases. And you, Mara, what can you do?" Ciel quirked his brow. Mara grinned, "I can cook really well!" You nodded in agreement to her statement. "Is that so?" Ciel asked, "Very well, you'll be assistant to the head chef."
Her eyes almost blew out of the socket. She'd be working with Bard. She looked at you, grinning and vibrating in place.
"Good luck." You laughed at her condition while the other two looked rather concerned.
After this, Ciel asked what you knew about them. Mara and you had decided that it would be safer to not tell them that you knew everything that would happen if this world followed the anime. "Well, we know that Sebastian and you have a contract and that he's a demon," Mara stated, shrugging. Ciel nodded and then made sure that neither of you was going to spill that as soon as he took you away from here. You swore that you wouldn't, of course.
Ciel then ordered Sebastian to go inform the officers of what would be happening and for him to fetch the carriage. It took about twenty minutes but, you were finally able to leave. You stepped outside and took in your surroundings. Everything was vastly different from what you were used to. Sebastian assisted Ciel and Mara into the carriage, this nearly caused her to faint, of course. He offered you his hand, with his fake little closed-eyed smile. You had always found it slightly unnerving. You declined his offer and just hopped up into the carriage, taking your seat next to Mara. Your rejection had caused the butler's eyebrows to rise, but nothing more. He closed the door and then you were off. After about ten minutes, you were out.
You were awoken by Sebastian opening the door to the carriage. Also, Mara shaking you and completely freaking out. You looked to where she was looking, and your eyes widened as your jaw dropped. The manor was huge! Mara jumped out of the carriage before Sebastian could assist her, followed by you. You stood in awe as you took in the scenery. You couldn't help but think about how beautiful it was. Your thoughts were quickly broken by Sebastian, however. "Lady Mara, Lady (Y/n)."
"Welcome to the Phantomhive Manor."
