online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

I feel like more people should know about the Filipino phrase bahala na si Batman. quite literally, it means it's up to Batman. on a more figurative level, it means that you're leaving something to God/fate - metaphorically represented by Batman, of course.
big event that you haven't prepared for but you're going anyway? bahala na si Batman. major exams coming up and you haven't reviewed yet? bahala na si Batman. about to do anything remotely risky/luck-based? bahala na si Batman.
anyways, I just think it's hilarious that Batman is now a part of our culture through this saying. is this a thing in other cultures/languages too? let me know!

Hopefully they roll out international subscriptions in the future, but if they don't then I just want to say it's been an honor to be in the Puppet History fandom with you! You're one of my favorite PH fanartists, and I always looked forward to seeing the incredible comics you'd make for each season finale. Thank you for being such a positive influence on my Puppet History experience over the years ^_^

Not sure if tumblr's seen this yet, but the Philippine-Palestine Friendship Association is taking donations to help refugees from Gaza who are currently staying in the country. This was last updated on December 13.
Attaching images below from their posts. They're taking donations both locally and internationally.

There are a couple more litmags / presses open for submissions, but this seems like a good place to start with posting these (I'm currently building a spreadsheet because I just realized I have too many bookmarks lmao). You don't need prior experience of submitting stories for publication, you just need a submission-ready story. If anyone needs a template for the cover letter, I can post the one I've been using (thankfully short story letters aren't as mindmelting to craft as full manuscript query letters lmao so don't be intimidated!).

I think the best way to fight this AI shit is just to support actual creators. The cat's out of the bag with AI; our data's going to be taken and used without our consent whether we like it or not, so maybe we should put efforts into holding up those who create their own stuff. Comment/interact on people's writings and art. Make it worth them posting; make it clear that what the people are interested in isn't generated stuff, but things that people have actually done themselves. It's a drop in the ocean, but showing creators that it's them that deserve the support at least serves to cut off a tiny bit of oxygen to these AI hogs - and make a difference to creatives who are trying against hope to share with a community.
