Lilo loved animals, she was finishing her marine biology degree of course. She cared a lot about the environment and whenever she met someone who had the same beliefs as her she was absolutely thrilled. And meeting Fawn so no exception.  So when they decided to have lunch, Lilo was excited to talk with someone who had the same concerns as herself. Sitting on the patio of Flo’s lilo looked through the menu before seeing the familiar girl walking towards the cafe. “Fawn! Hey over here!!” Lilo waved slightly to get the other’s attention.

Toulouse gave a small chuckle and sat down next to her. “I have been here a few times over the past couple of days, not that much before though.” He looked over to the sea and got lost in thought. The sea had always interested Toulouse, he could stare at it for hours. Over a minute later he realised he had stopped talking to the girl next to him. He quickly turned his head to the side and said “So, why are you at the beach so much? Do you just like to tan or do you surf or…?”

“Well, it's a perfect time to start coming regularly, besides the main beaches they start getting super crowded with tourists.” Flipping her hair over to the other side she shrugged and laughed.”I’m a surfer actually, I even teach lessons over at Lahui, every single weekday!!” Letting the book fall close beside her she shifted to look over at her new companion. “So what are you gonna sketch?? If you don’t mind me asking...the waves? Or the trees?”

It was the annual beach clean up that lilo held every other week, she wasn’t usually alone but today was just one of those days where she just happened to be.  with a bag trailing behind her she finished the last little chunk she had designated for that day. Throwing the bag into her trunk she closed it with a loud thud. Taking out her beach bag, she turned to a familiar face. “Hey! Silvie! What’s up? You spending the day at the beach too?? Or just enjoying the view??” Lilo laughed striking a pose

dark circles were under hiro’s eyes. though this had been his usual look six or seven months ago, he’d been much perkier and active the last few months that it might look like a surprise to anyone else. he was half awake, buying an energy drink from the supermarket at noon and likely only awake because of the headphones covering his ears. when he felt someone staring, he lowered the headphones onto his shoulder. “what - have you never been on a twelve hour flight before?”

Lilo had a basket filled with everything she needed for the next two weeks. And for the most part she was just daydreaming until she saw the familiar hairstyle of Hiro, not having seen him in a while she thought of the perfect way to say hi before he seemingly snapped at her, not taking it personally she laughed. “Well, I also haven’t seen you in a bit, has that twelve-hour flight taken any smilies away?” She laughed softly before looking at his can. “I’ve got that for you, didn’t you have a birthday while you were gone, Hiro?”

Ariel’s heart swelled as she heard about Lilo’s parents, while such a small sign of love, it was something precious that Ariel eventually wanted. “That’s seriously so sweet, oh I’m sure you’ve got some , we all do somewhat. Like I can’t draw to save my life, my stick figures are lopsided but I take some nice photos …. not to toot my own horn.” She shrugged at her own comment not sure if it was weird to say. “Really? I mean you can’t laugh at me too bad though but like it’ll be disastrous , kinda funny but a mess ya know?” Ariel never had the attention span for any sport activities but this was water related and she had a hard time saying no to anything that was thrilling. “Those are both so cute! I’ve got like a gazillion sisters and we’re all A’s, kinda like the Kardashians but maybe less messy.” Ariel had made herself chuckle with her comment. “I’m honestly surprised that I haven’t seen you around here though, most people like to be left alone here.” 

Shrugging Lilo smiled. “Yeah, they were amazing...But I mean if you think about it that way, I guess I have some, I take polaroids usually, I haven’t recently but I might get back into it.”  Nudging the other she gave Ariel a soft chuckle. “ I promise you won’t be the worst one I’ve ever seen, there have been some really bad potential surfers, probably in the history of surfers!!” Looking back at it Lilo let out a laugh and continued to do so as Ariel compared her sisters to the Kardashians. “Honestly, same but it’s nice to finally meet you!! Though, I know what you mean some times it's nice to not be disturbed and I live like right at the end of the road over there where it’s all overgrown, my Nan used to live there before!! You can always come to visit it’s pretty secluded.” She said motioning to her right.

Hiro felt his usual, plain and business-like face, warp into a gentle smile at Lilo’s words. It was nice to feel wanted and though he always knew his squad wanted him, sometimes it felt like they were the only people in town that did. “It’s very nice out - like it’s the kind of day that I wished air conditioners worked outside - “ he laughed. “maybe that’ll be my next invention? Um - I just needed a change of scenery, you know? I probably spend way too much time in my room and at the college. It’s good to get out…and you - you live out here, right?” He teased.

Letting out a small laugh Lilo shrugged. “You can always just sit in the shade it keeps me pretty cool, but also an outdoor air conditioner would be really cool!!” Giving Hiro a gentle nod before tucking her knees under her chin she laughed. “Oh yeah, when it’s night time i just burrow under the sand!! Actually, though I just live like five minutes away from here.” Re-adjusting her sunglasses, she patted the spot next to her. “Why don’t you sit with me and enjoy being out of your college dorm.”

— ✗ ° › angus had never been to winnie’s bakery & cafe, yet he had been recommended the place on multiple occasions. the guys back at the construction site had mocked angus for never tasting their delicious sweets and strong coffee. to be honest, angus wasn’t too keen on sweet things and would rather drink tea than coffee. nevertheless, he was sick of hearing his co-workers talk about the place and felt a bit out of the loop. he made it to the bakery and rolled his eyes at the line that was out the door. angus got in it and looked at the person next to him. “ is this place really worth a line ? ”

Lilo had essentially lived at Winnie’s Bakery her entire adolescents, especially with Nani working there. Of course, she had teased Angus about never going but seeing him in line had definitely surprised her. Slipping through the line she made her way to his side. “Of course it is, maybe its longer nowadays with the whole fog of mystery surrounding her.”  Tucking hair behind her ears she shrugged, before setting a hand on his arm. “The cinnamon twist donuts are my favourite and I know you’ll love ‘em not too sweet, pinky promise.” She shined a bright smile towards him before giving a laugh. “Don’t be so grumpy.”

She laughed and looked at the board. Ariel was a bit surprised she had never tried surfing. While she loved the ocean , Ariel sometimes was a bit of a klutz. “That’s amazing, I applaud you cause standing on one of these sounds a bit hard….did you design this yourself, it’s beautiful.” She smiled and began braiding her long locks. “Oh sweet , I’ve been looking for something to do and that sounds like fun. “ Ariel chuckled and nodded. “It’s a weird thing but like I’d wish they’d make more towels like that, it’s just…so much cuter? It makes my instagram a lot more aesthetically pleasant.” As she flipped her hair back she stretched before crossing her legs. “Cute name! Yeah my dad gave us a lot of things….but hey if you ever want a dog to pet you can pet mine! Her name is Blue, a little mutt…I think chihuaha…she’s a handful but precious.” 

Lilo gave the other a smile, trying to suppress the hint of sadness at Ariel’s compliment. “No my Momma did for my Dad like eons ago. I have like 0 visual artistic talent!!” She laughed throwing her head back and taking in the sunshine. “You should totally stop by tomorrow I’ve got a free spot in the afternoon, the first lesson on the house!!” Lilo shrugged suddenly bashful. “Thanks my gran picked it for my older sister but my pops came up with Nani so I got Lilo.”  Rubbing her hands she smiled at the mention of Blue. “She sounds amazing!! I’ve been thinking about getting one recently but who knows what I’ll get.”

I haven’t seen ya around and I like live on this beach!!”

Hiro could say very honestly that he wasn’t much of a beach person. The sun, the crowds, he wasn’t even a big fan of the water. Hiro mused that some people were created for living outdoors, but likewise some people were created for loving indoors. Still, he was walking around, feeling the sand crinkle under his feet. Taking in the heat, the different atmosphere - he stood plainly for a few moments, trying to think. Whenever he couldn’t think, Tadashi would tell him to change things up - look at life from a new angle. Sometimes he’d physically hold him upside down as a joke - but though he was sure Fred would love to do the honors, he was going to stick to just changing the scenery when he got stuck in a rut. “Huh?” He asked, his eyebrows knitting together until he looked down and realized he was standing over someone’s towel. “I mean - I suppose I could if you actually wanted me to?”

Lilo let out a small laugh and closed the book she was reading and slid it into the bag she brought. “Of course I actually want you to Hiro, it’s a great day for some unexpected, but very welcomed company.” Moving to sit on her bum, Lilo raised her knees up to her chest. Tucking her hair away from her face Lilo sighed. “Isn’t it so nice out?? I can’t wait for it to be like this every day. May I assume that you’re out here for the sun?? Or is there another reason??”

Eyes glancing over to her father's old board Lilo shrugged. “ Probably since the womb, I don’t know for sure but a long, long time.” Wiping some sand off the hand painted design. Pulling her hair into a large-ish top knot Lilo shrugged. “Its basically in my DNA so much so that I teach it down over for Lahui!!” Laughing at the thought of a lemon towel. “I’d fuck with a watermelon one, to be honest!! “ Taking a sip from her own water bottle she nodded and smiled at the now named redhead, Ariel. “Lilo! And I’ve always wanted a dog, never had the money growing up.” She laughed it off before pushing her loose hair out of her face she turned to Ariel. “What’s the pups name??”
