Y'all. I have been listening to the Legendborn books and I'm obsessed. I have always liked Arthurian retellings but to see this trope be focused around a young black girl is beautiful. I love how Tracey has really brought forth this longing to lean on our ancestors and history that has been or felt lost to so many black families. I also love how Bree can understand that so much pain can come because of a group of people but that doesn't mean they are all the same. Bree loves her people for who they are and not what they are. I'm not entirely sure where this story will go but I'm rooting for Bree, Sel, and Nick and hope they find a happy ending together.

Do you have any theories about oathbound

I GOT MY COPY OF OATHBOUND TODAY :)) SO here are my therios before I start reading! One thing- that I don’t know if I fully believe it- but when someone said the Shadow King and Sel are related…. That started something in my brain, for one, the Shadow King is contact with Natalia. He talked abt her as if they’ve had a lot of history together. And bcs parents play a critical role in the books (Nicks moms and dad, Brees mother and her father, Sels mother...) it makes me question why Sels dad is just brushed away as a drunk asshole and then never spoken of again? Couldnit be bcs his real father is someone else? Maybeee the Shadow King?

Second… HOW is abolition going to be stopped for Bree? What will Bree have to go through or do for her to not die in her 30s as a result of using her powers? I don’t want it to be magically solved, thats too easy. So someone or something is going to change that. Im very anxious abt that and need Oathbound to address it pls!!!

Third I do not believe all of the trio is going to stick together by the end of the series. Sorry but Im not convinced of a polyamory. Sel dosent seem the type to want to share. And Nick??? Nothing that I have read abt him screams he loves Sel. Take Bree out of the equation and Nick and Sel would never have grown close like THAT. Bree is like a bridge between them and I dont like that they depend too much on her. Sooo… Nick is going to sacrifice himself towards the end.?? On his journey to find Bree he will be tested and agonized. His mother may come back as an option hes able to save and he might have to choose between them?

Ahhh Im just rambling bcs Im excited and dont care if I end up wrong on all of these Im just happy the waiting is overrrr!!
