Like she wants to separate herself from it but shes got to know shes like inextricably a part of it

in my mind palace falins father sent that coat as a reconcilatory gesture towards laios like youll always be my son when he heard they were out there scraping by bc he thought laios was too ashamed to come home after failing to strike out on his own. He actually has no idea laios resents him for how he handled falins situation. Falin knew about how laios felt tho but she didnt want it to go to waste n it is a reminder of a home she hasnt returned to since she was a kid so she keeps it n thats why its kinda big on her. Laios knows thats his fathers old coat but never comments on it. Also i think in her letter falin writes like its both her and laios writing back in a kind of omission of details way bc she feels obligated to keep the peace. Like what peace ? she doesnt know. the contrast between the dungeon lords tho like u got all these ppl wanting to change something fundamental in the world and u got mithrun “i wanna fuck my brothers fiance” house of something . Like the lack of vision

love how marcilles mother told her she runs faster than everyone else so she’ll see a lot of people go away and her fear of death manifests as running from a monster forever and ever. And even tho shes and her party risks their life in the dungeon it still manifests as fear of death from aging. And also in fact marcille does not feel like she runs faster than everyone else- she runs at a completely different rate she cant control. Like one day shes the baby of the group the next shes the oldest like socially it sooo confusing. Like for someone like an elf like her mother whos amongst shorter lived races its a metaphor that makes sense but for marcille it doesnt map. Imagine something so fundemental that everyone understands like aging relative to others getting that scrambled. It really fits the running theme of marcille not understanding pretty basic things (getting killed by slime, not numbing pain when healing, not understanding ecology )
