Reviewing Every Power Rangers Megaforce Episode: Episodes 1+2
MANY people do not like “Power Rangers Megaforce”, including me at one point. But recently I thought I should take up the task of seeing if my hate for Megaforce is really just me trying to follow the crowd, or me actually not liking the show for what it is. So I decided that I’m going to watch every episode of Megaforce and then Super Megaforce to see my thoughts about it.
For the rating system i will rate each episode out of 10 on the following categories:
Story
Character Development
Action
Characters
Entertainment
In total if there’s a perfect score a great episode will add up to 10.
Here are the Grade Ratings
A - (45-50; Excellent)
B - (38-44; Good)
C - (30-37; Average)
D - (20-29; Poor)
F - (0-19; Bad)
So without further ado. Let’s get this started.
EPISODE ONE: "MEGA MISSION"
Story: 6/10-The first episode is basically a retread of “Day of The Dumpster” which makes it go down a couple points. 5 Teenagers, Evil Aliens Come to Earth (honestly that’s a staple in the franchise by this point), Mentor & Assistant are awakened by the arrival of the villains, they summon the 5 teenagers, teenagers fight the minions in Human Form and get beat up a bit, then morph and defeat the enemies of the week. It’s not a bad formula, but since it’s been done before it’s not exactly too exciting.
Character Development: 0/10- It’s the first episode so it’s more focused on establishing characters rather than developing them. That’s not exactly much of an excuse, other shows are able to establish and develop characters in their first episode but since it doesn’t happen at all here, it gets a 0 in terms of that. Not even all that much hesitation when it comes to becoming rangers. So yeah this gets a 0.
Action: 7/10- The Action is entertaining and that’s what matters. It’s nothing to brag about but it’s not horrendous. Choreography is cool, nice show off of powers.
Characters: 5.5/10 - Characters I liked the most were Emma, Noah, Mr. Burley, and Ernie. Jake was cool. Troy and Gia weren’t all that good at this point. I wasn’t all that impressed by their characters. Gosei wasn’t much. Tensou, I find him pretty entertaining right now, that could possibly change in the future but right now I kinda like him. The villains aren’t much to brag about right now. I know Vrak becomes much more important later on, Creepox has some sort of rivalry with Troy to my memory, but the big bad I remember absolutely nothing about. I don’t even remember if he was all that important. But taking out what happens in the future with these villains, they didn’t leave an impact on me at this point. I was able to enjoy some of the characters, but that wasn’t enough to give this anything above a Poor Rating.
Entertainment: 6/10 - All in all I'd say the episode was entertaining. But like before I don’t think it’s anything to brag about, pretty average entertainment to be honest. Only a few characters were able to keep me entertained, there were some moments that were funny too, action was nice. Adding all that up to fit this rating I think this is a pretty good placement.
Overall Thoughts: This episode gets a 24.5/50, which is…a poor rating. Not exactly a positive thing to open up this season review with. I do feel like it deserves a higher rating, but this is the result of the rules I put in.
The Grade This Episode Gets: D
EPISODE TWO: "HE BLASTED ME WITH SCIENCE"
Story: 4/10 - There wasn’t much to the story of this episode to be honest. I felt like this episode was supposed to be a Noah focused episode but they chickened out at the end, that’s probably what the episode was in Goseiger (i never watched it so I don’t know for sure). That scene at the beginning of the episode with Troy & Creepox felt out of place. I feel like it would’ve been better placed later on in the episode before Jake & Gia called for reinforcements. There was a plot, a monster kidnapping humans to experiment on. But we never really saw what these experiments would be, we were told but being told isn’t exactly the same as showing what could’ve happened.
Character Development: 2/10 - The Rangers learn that they work better as a team. But the message is a bit lackluster considering only Jake & Gia had problems and not the rest of the team…actually it was more Jake who suggested it so it really felt like it was his lesson that he had to learn. The ending treats it as if all the Rangers had problems with teamwork when it was really just Jake & Gia, but mostly Jake.
Action: 5.5/10 - The action isn’t on the same level as episode one. The solo Zord and Megazord fights were cool (I really like where the Zord heads attack the Monster of the Week), however the Ranger fight on the ground was pretty boring I felt. It’s actually rare that I think Zord fights were better than the Ranger fights.
Characters: 6.5/10 - A slight step up from last episode. Gia grew on me more in this episode. We got some more info on our characters. Noah and his fascination with cryptids, Vrak being of royal status (of course I already knew that but compared to what we got about him in episode 1 this is still something at least), setting up Creepox & Troy’s rivalry (whether it was done well is pretty questionable, but again, compared to what we got in episode 1 it’s still something). Emperor Malkor still hasn’t grown on me, he’s pretty boring honestly. There’s nothing really attracting me to him like other PR villains. There've been funny ones and threatening ones and Malkor isn’t really either of them. For all the flack Master Xandred gets, he has a lot more personality than this guy in his first scene in Samurai than in the two episodes I’ve seen Malkor in.
Entertainment: 5/10 - Not that well of a score. The Zord Fights isn’t enough for the episode in terms of entertainment. Mr. Burley, once again, was funny and Jake & Gia were a funny duo but everything else wasn’t that entertaining. I feel like this was a downgrade from last episode.
Overall Thoughts: After adding it all up, this episode gets a 23/50. Yeah…another poor score. Megaforce isn’t doing so well right now as its first two episodes, at least in my opinion. Am I really surprised? Not all that much, but we’re only two episodes in and I like to be optimistic. However the story, entertainment, and action were all downgrades from episode one. The only things that it did better were characters and character development (although not by much sadly).

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Reboot: Season 1

With Power Rangers in a sort of state of limbo with talks of a reboot of MMPR being distributed on Disney+, I thought it appropriate to start writing ideas of what I would do with a reboot of MMPR. I'm currently planning four seasons with 20 episodes each. I'm almost done with seasons 2-3 while still in the process of brainstorming ideas for season 4.
So here it is. The first episode of season 1 along with episodes ideas for each episode of the season.
EPISODE ONE: "MORPHIN TIME"
We open on a shot of the moon.
Suddenly a ship comes into sight and lands right next to a “space dumpster”. With this we meet three aliens who have finally discovered the location of the prison of Rita Repulsa. They free her and tell them their names. Their names are Finster, Goldar, & Scorpina and the three of them have been sent by Lord Zedd in order to find Rita’s prison and free her.
Rita says that she’s very excited to go and see her “Zeddy” again, but unfortunately she is told that she cannot go back because after 10,000 years of being inactive she must once again prove herself worthy of being part of the Hierarchy of Evil. If she refuses to do so then she will face the wrath of Dark Specter.
Rita begrudgingly says that she’ll do it, but then her tone changes as she feels like she’ll truly have a chance to feel like herself again after so long. She sets her sights toward attacking the nearest planet: Earth. Using her magic, Rita conjures up a castle on the moon and takes Finster, Scorpina, and Goldar to be her new minions to watch over her progress and then once she’s done with Earth, they can report to Dark Specter and tell her of her success.
We then cut to the ANGEL GROVE YOUTH CENTER where we get to meet the characters we’ll be following throughout the series. We see Jason teaching a karate class, Zack teaching a dance class, Trini doing yoga, and Kimberly putting on a gymnastics display. We also meet Bulk and Skull, two troublemakers who try to pull a prank on the five but fail miserably. We meet Ernie, the owner of the Youth Center. Finally we meet Tommy Oliver, a new kid on the block who is training in Martial Arts but has not joined Jason’s karate class, claiming that he prefers to work alone. We also see in this scene that Kimberly has a crush on Tommy, hoping that he was watching her while she was displaying her skill in gymnastics.

We cut back to the moon where Finster has finally finished creating a Battalion of “Putty Patrollers”, a bunch of small stagnant clay soldiers who were just awaiting to be brought to life. He went to Rita and she used her magic staff to bring the Putties to life. She then turned to Goldar and Scorpina, ordering them to go and lead the Putties to Earth starting with a city called Angel Grove.
We then cut to the city where we see people going about their day until Goldar, Scorpina, and about 100 Putties teleport to the center and start attacking people. The Putties start beating people, Scorpina starts blowing up buildings and cars, and Goldar seemingly leads the charge, enjoying all the destruction.
Eventually the chaos leads to the Angel Grove Youth Center where Putties start trying to break into the Youth Center, which they eventually succeed in. Everyone in the Youth Center is either running, screaming, or trying to fight off the Putties. Jason, Zack, Trini, and Tommy try fighting off the Putties but the clay soldiers are stronger and more durable than they are. As the fight rages, Tommy is thrown out a window and crashes onto the concrete outside. Kimberly and Billy try fighting the Putties in their own way, Billy using projectiles and Kimberly trying to use martial arts (although she isn't exactly good at it as a whole, she's good at evading though).
The chaos continues inside the Youth Center. Zack is thrown down the stairs, Kim's hair is pulled & she’s thrown onto the floor, hitting her head, Jason is picked up and slammed through a table, Billy gets thrown over a railing (the impact cracks the lens of his glasses), and Trini gets pinned down. Before they can be finished off they get teleported away in a Red, Black, and Yellow light.
Jason, Zack, and Trini end up in the Command Center (the one in Zeo) with Kimberly and Billy being teleported right behind them. All of them are confused about where they are, and even more confused when they meet a robot called Alpha V & a floating head in a tube named Zordon. Zordon fills in the Rangers about what is happening. Their planet is being attacked by Rita Repulsa, a Marquis of Evil who has finally been released from her entrapment after 10,000 years. Now she’s most likely attacking Angel Grove in order to keep her placement in the Hierarchy of Evil. The five question what the Hierarchy of Evil is but Zordon tells them they don’t have much time, Rita’s putty patrollers are tearing up Angel Grove as they speak.
Zordon tells them that he can give them the abilities to fight off the Putties along with Goldar and Scorpina. They will gain 5 power coins that will give them the power of superhuman strength, agility, and reflexes. They will also be given hand-held morphers that they can insert the Power Coins into, these morphers would transform them into what Zordon calls “Power Rangers”. With these morphing abilities they would gain weapons that they can use in battle along with large mechs based off of Dinosaurs called Zords.
At first the five aren’t too sure about becoming Power Rangers. But after looking at the destruction being caused to their town they quickly reconsider. Zack is the first to step up, then Jason, then Trini, then Billy…and finally Kimberly does as well. Zordon gives them their Power Coins and morphers. The Power Coins cover each of them in a specific-colored light (Red, Black, Yellow, Blue, and Pink), indicating that the coins have bonded to the Rangers. Zordon tells them the activation phrase in order to morph before sending them out to the city.
The Rangers call attention to the Putties just before they morph.
“It’s Morphin’ Time!”
“Mastodon!”
“Pterodactyl!”
“Triceratops!”
“Sabertooth Tiger!”
“Tyrannosaurus!”
The Five Transform into their Ranger Suits.
“We’re ready to Morph into Action!”
“It’s time to stop Rita!”
“And all her menacing monsters!”
“From destroying our planet!”
“Look out Rita! We’re not backin’ down cuz we’re the-”
“POWER RANGERS!”
A color-coded explosion with each other their colors appears behind them.
The Putties attack and the Rangers defend, finding it much easier to take these guys down than it was before. They utilize their blade blaster sidearms to shoot down and destroy the Putties in the area.
As they move throughout the city more and more Putties start to appear and the Rangers decide to upgrade to the next level. They call on their weapons which appear in their hands: The Power Sword (Jason), the Power Axe (Zack), the Power Daggers (Trini), the Power Bow (Kimberly), and the Power Lance (Billy).

The Rangers effortlessly fight off the Putties. As they’re almost done cleaning out the city, Scorpina comes into the fray and starts a fight with Trini, taking her down but before she could get the opportunity to press more, she was met with energy arrow attacks from Kimberly.
Zack, Kimberly, and Billy go to help Trini but before he can help too, Jason is confronted by Goldar and the two start a fight of their own. Their fight eventually leads to Goldar flying Jason into a parking garage.
Goldar and Scorpina prove to be hard fought battles for the Rangers. Back at Rita’s Moon Palace she seems terrified, paralyzed…Power Rangers. But how? She destroyed them all. Destroyed all of them except…Zordon.
During their fight Jason ends up slicing off Goldar wings, preventing him from being able to fly. In an attempt to gain the advantage, Rita uses her magic.
“Magic Wand! MAKE MY GOLDAR GROOOOOWWW!”
She throws her Magic Staff down to Earth, landing near Goldar and makes him grow to giant size. Scorpina sees him grow and decides to retreat to watch him crush the Rangers by himself.

The Rangers regroup as Goldar rampages throughout the city. Jason tells the team that it’s time to summon the zords.
“We need DinoZord Power, NOW!”
The DinoZords appear and form the MegaZord. The MegaZord does battle with Goldar, Scorpina watches in the distance. As the Rangers get the advantage, Goldar is notified by Rita to retreat as it’s clear that he can’t keep battling for much longer. Goldar is teleported away along with Scorpina and Rita’s Magic Wand.
Back at the Command Center the Rangers celebrate defeating Rita’s forces and saving the town. Zordon congratulates them on their victory but tells them that they shouldn’t get too confident. Rita will not stop just because of one defeat and will keep sending stronger foes their way. He tells them not to underestimate her as he’s experienced first hand what she’s capable of.
The Rangers tell Zordon that they understand. They’re sent on their way back to Angel Grove to help with cleanup. After the Rangers are teleported we get to see a moment with Zordon and Alpha alone.
Alpha asks Zordon if maybe the Prophecy has finally been set in motion. Zordon responds by saying that he doesn’t know for sure, after all they thought it had been more than 10,000 years ago but unfortunately they were wrong.
After Zordon finishes his sentence we enter a room deep in the Command Center, a room that holds a tan parchment within it that showcases events portraying the future. However we only focus on one, a team of Six Rangers: A Red Ranger, a Black Ranger, a Pink Ranger, a Blue Ranger, a Yellow Ranger…and a Green Ranger.
THE CAST
RANGERS/HEROES:
Jason Lee Scott - (16) Red Ranger, leader of the team, and love interest of Trini Kwan. Jason is born and raised in Angel Grove, an average sized town with a very tight knit community. Growing up, Jason was bullied by those bigger than him, being made fun of for being small and scrawny. In order to defend himself he attended martial arts classes. Through martial arts he learned confidence and discipline; he learned to defend himself against bullies but also learned just when and where martial arts should be used. With this mindset he is the perfect choice to become the Red Ranger of the team and lead his team against the evils of Rita Repulsa.
Kimberly Hart - (16) Pink Ranger, “Heart of The Team”. Kimberly is an aspiring gymnast with big dreams for herself. Kimberly is part of the three big families of Angel Grove, The Hart family. The Hart family is one of the three pioneer families that founded Angel Grove, and therefore one of the richest families in Angel Grove. Often seen as an ordinary valley girl type who really only cares about herself (she’s seen as this by those who don’t know her) and so she takes the initiative to show that she doesn't just think about herself by constantly volunteering to help out for events (though people still aren’t satisfied and being part of all these events can sometimes take a toll on her state of mind). Kimberly is one of the essential members of the team, the one to keep morale up when things seem bleak. Because of this she is perfect for the role of the Pink Ranger.
Billy Cranston - (15) Blue Ranger, the brains of the team. Billy is one of, if not the smartest, kid in his school. Despite being only 15 years old, Billy is actually a senior in high school. Billy’s often picked on by those bigger and stronger than him because they see him as an easy target, he’s pretty scrawny and non confrontational. Because of this, Billy caught the eye of Jason Scott, someone who was once like him and became his friend. Billy now takes Jason’s martial arts classes in hopes of “bulking up” to defend himself. Billy is the one who creates the communication devices for the team. When it comes to creating inventions or even working with the Morphing Grid itself, Billy is the one that Alpha and Zordon get to help them.
Zack Taylor - (16) Black Ranger. Zack is the one who loves to have fun and loves to spread that fun to everyone else. Him and Kimberly are essentially the hearts of the team, the ones who keep everything lively and fun. But the difference is that Zack is the one who tries to keep things fun and entertaining while Kimberly tries to motivate people more. Zack joined Jason’s karate class and using this he made his own style of combat: “Hip Hop Kido”. Zack has been Jason's best friend since 8th Grade and the two are near inseparable. Zack has a deep love for his friendships, especially close friendships that he’d be willing to fight and die for. He’s always the first to step up to those he feels like is being wronged in some way shape or form. Zack is also a great leader. While Jason is the primary leader of the team, Zack is the one who takes over for Jason when he is not in the condition to lead the team.
Trini Kwan - (16) Yellow Ranger. The 2nd best fighter in the team (before Tommy joins), Rival to Scorpina, and also the love interest of Jason. The two have known each other since starting high school and since then Jason has had a crush on her. Trini has had a quite long relationship with martial arts, although she’s never participated in a tournament, believing that competing to be the best just isn’t for her. Trini has a heart of gold and is smart (often translating Billy's words so that the rest of the team can understand him better when he's talking about inventions), noble, and kind. She’s willing to fight till the very end with a will made of iron.
Tommy Oliver - (16) Green Ranger, reformed villain. Tommy in the first 10 episodes of the show is pretty much a background character. He’s a rival to Jason when it comes to martial arts which leads into the rivalry between them in the Green Ranger arc. Tommy is evil as the Green Ranger until the finale of season 1, where the Rangers break Rita's spell over him and he joins the team to take down any force that comes their way. In season 2 Tommy will lose his Green Ranger powers due to schemes by Lord Zedd in episode 8 and will become the White Ranger in episode 11. In season 1 Tommy has a slight rivalry with Goldar as both are competing for the spot of Rita's righthand. After Goldar's death at the hands of Tommy; his brother, Silverback, becomes Tommy's new rival in order to avenge his fallen brother.
Zordon - (10,000+) The Mentor of the Power Rangers, former Red Ranger. Zordon was from a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy where they worshipped beings known as The Morphin Masters. During an invasion by the Machine Empire, Zordon along with five other followers (one among them being Rita Repulsa) discovered power coins, artifacts that would allow them to morph into beings that gave them abilities to fight against the threat against their planet. Just as they had successfully made the Machine Empire retreat from their planet, an even worse threat arrived. Lord Zedd, a Prince of Evil, came to their world and struck them hard. After their first encounter, Zedd captured Rita, one of the Rangers, and held her hostage for five months. When the Rangers finally saw her again, Rita was evil and had joined Lord Zedd’s side. Over years of battles, Rita picked off members of the team one by one till Zordon was left. Zordon and Rita then did battle where Zordon would reverse Rita’s containment spell, sealing her away. Just after, the Morphin Masters appeared to Zordon and they sent Rita’s space dumpster all the way to a moon in the Milky Way Galaxy. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of his troubles. Zordon had gathered the Power Coins of his fallen comrades, but by the time he found all of them, it was practically too late. His planet was in ruins, most of the population had been annihilated (those who weren’t were taken as slaves), and he was the only one actively fighting for the safety of the planet because everyone else had lost hope. Finally Lord Zedd himself came down and he and Zordon engaged in battle. Zedd almost destroyed Zordon, leaving him on the brink of death. Before he could die, Zordon was found by Alpha V, the robotic assistant of the Power Rangers, and was taken back to their command center. Sadly Zordon’s body was injured beyond repair and so Alpha did what he could and uploaded his consciousness into a cyber tank so that he could stay alive. Alpha and Zordon fled the Andromeda Galaxy as it was increasingly being taken over by the Hierarchy of Evil. Alpha and Zordon ended up in the Milky Way galaxy and took shelter on the planet Earth. Alpha would build a new command center and use cloaking technology to mask their location over the years.
Alpha 5 - (10,000+) The Robot Assitant to Zordon and the Power Rangers. Alpha 5 was part of the fifth model of the Alpha Series created on the planet Eltar. Alpha 5 specifically aided Eltar's resident Ranger Team during their fight against the Machine Empire and later Lord Zedd. Alpha oftens gets assistance from Billy when it comes to tech situations. Alpha is prone to panicking, often saying "ai yi yi yi yi yi yi" when he panics.
THE VILLAINS:
Rita Repulsa - (10,000+) Marquis of Evil, maniacal sorceress, and former Green Ranger. Rita was once a good natured person from another planet where she and her people worshipped beings known as The Morphin Masters. One day while her planet was being under attack by beings known as the Machine Empire, Rita along with five others discovered the Power Coins, and using them they transformed into Power Rangers, with Rita gaining the powers of the Green Ranger. Rita and her teammates would fight off the Machine Empire for years until a being more powerful came along, Lord Zedd. Lord Zedd was a Prince of Evil and his forces proved to be even more powerful than the Machine Empire. After getting captured during an invasion for a period of five months, Rita ended up falling in love with Lord Zedd and happily joined his forces, turning against her friends. Years of combat would pass and with those years Rita would be responsible for the deaths of most of her teammates, all except for one. Zordon, the team’s leader. Throughout the years of battling, Rita committed so many atrocious acts that she would be granted the title of “Marquis of Evil”. Zordon and Rita did solo battle, it was hard fought and the two had come close to finishing the other off multiple times. When Rita tried to use a containment spell that would seal Zordon away, Zordon reflected the spell and made it bounce off him and into Rita, sealing her away. After being sealed away into a “space dumpster”, Zordon came into contact with the Morphin Masters who shot Rita’s space dumpster into a random location in the galaxy. Rita’s space dumpster landed in the Milky Way Galaxy on the Moon near the planet Earth. Rita would remain in that dumpster until she would be freed by two warriors named Goldar & Scorpina and an inventor named Finster who had been tasked with finding her space dumpster for the last 10,000 years.
Goldar - (52) One of Rita’s henchmen, former henchman for Lord Zedd. Goldar fought with his brother, Silverback, in Lord Zedd’s army, conquering worlds and overthrowing planet governments. Goldar has rivalries with both Jason and Tommy, becoming Tommy's rival after he becomes the evil Green Ranger. In episode 19 he is left on the brink of death after a battle with the Dino Megazord. Seeing how weak he was, Goldar was destroyed by Tommy.
Scorpina - (10,000+) One of Rita’s henchmen. former henchman for Lord Zedd. Scorpina is one of the most feared warriors in Lord Zedd’s army, she has a reputation as a strong warrior and is so fearful and powerful that she’s in the running to join the Hierarchy of Evil as a Marquis of Evil. Because of this, Scorpina isn’t very content with having to obey Rita’s command and constantly butts heads with Rita but always has to back down because Rita is more powerful than her in both strength and status. Scorpina is the Rival to Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger. Scorpina sees great potential in Trini to be a very skilled warrior and so she constantly pushes her for a fight so she can assert her dominance over a fighter that can grow to be stronger than her someday. In the Season 1 finale, Scorpina gets tossed into the depths of space by the MegaZord. She returns in Season 2 where she finally gets destroyed by Trini.
Finster - (68) One of Rita’s Henchmen. Finster is an inventor and is the one who creates Rita’s monsters and Putty army to fight against the Rangers. He’s physically the weakest and is the most likely to run away from a fight out of Rita’s henchmen, but he is the mind behind Rita’s army and is an essential part of Rita’s operation.
Putty Patrollers - Putties are clay golem-like foot soldiers that are part of Rita's army so that she could take over the Earth. They were created by Finster.
EPISODE SUMMARIES:
Episode 1 “Morphin Time”- Rita is freed from her prison by Goldar, Finster, and Scorpina and sends a monster along with Putty Patrollers down to Angel Grove to cause some suffering. To fight against her evil forces, Zordon tells Alpha to summon a group of “teenagers with attitude” to the Command Center. Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Kimberly are summoned and given their Ranger morphers but they deny the offer. They get sent back to Angel Grove and rethink their decision after seeing innocent people being attacked and hurt. They activate their powers, defeat the putties, and defeat Rita’s monster with their brand new megazord.
Episode 2 “Follow The Leader”- Jason tries his hardest to lead his team to the best of his ability, but when a monster with the power of making people slack off enters the fray, Jason has to find his way to get his team back to normal and defeat the monster. Episode 3 “What The Hart Wants”- Kimberly faces her own bullies who try to make her out to be a self conceited rich girl who can't achieve anything on her own. When a monster comes to Earth with the power to turn people into the opposite of who they are, Kimberly has to find a way to break the spell, proving that she is not who people think she is and showing that others are more than what people think of them.
Episode 4 “Gifted Billy”- Billy prepares for his school Skills Competition, he desperately wishes his mother will come see him compete. In the episode a monster comes to Earth with the power to amplify self doubt in somebody and it affects Billy, amplify his insecurities and he starts doubting himself because of what his mother would always tell him in the past, that life is filled with disappointments and broken dreams, that he should just give up to save himself the heartache. Billy’s role in this episode is to show strength by proving that hard work can push you to unbelievable heights and that what your parents or relatives ended up like does not define who you’ll be.
Episode 5 “What Matters Most”- Zack has troubles with balancing life as a Power Ranger along with his regular life. When he goes out as a Ranger he often has to lose something in return. Zack grapples with his thoughts about still being a Power Ranger. When a monster comes to earth and traps the other Rangers, Zack has to choose between continuing as a Rangers/saving his team and something else that could seriously send him down a path of success.
Episode 6 “Trini’s Resolve”- Trini deals with stress regarding juggling activities such as clubs, grades, and ranger activities. It only gets worse as Scorpina repeatedly tries to goad Trini into a fight, everything eventually getting to a boiling point, causing Trini and Scorpina to fight. Trini puts up a decent fight, but Scorpina plays dirty and almost destroys her. However the team comes to her aid and Trini learns the lesson of the episode, fighting Scorpina to a stand still and making her retreat.
Episode 7 “Punk Rangers”- As a way to give the Rangers a taste of their own medicine, Rita creates copies of their Power Coins and give them to five of her Putty Patrollers, however these Power Coins are imperfect and are the reason the rangers are able to win in the end, by taking advantage of the weaknesses the Dark Rangers have. In this episode we see the Dragon Power Coin that Rita has, but she says it’s not time yet as she needs to find the perfect vessel to utilize the coin’s power (so she basically creates the Dark Rangers to buy time).
Episode 8 “The Rangers Before”- While looking through the lower levels of the Command Center, Billy discovers the prophecy of six rangers destined to destroy the Emperor of Evil. Billy and the other Rangers go to Zordon, looking for more information. Zordon fills them in by telling them the story of his team of rangers and how one by one each of them met their end during the fight against evil, and how Zordon lost his physical body due to a run-in with a powerful Prince of Evil named Lord Zedd. In this episode the team learns about Dark Specter, the Hierarchy of Evil, how being a Ranger is much more risky than they originally thought, and that there is an extra ranger missing from their team.
Episode 9 “Nightmare Arts”- As the Angel Grove Martial Arts Tournament grows near, Jason starts pushing himself harder than he ever has before when it comes to training. Eventually he starts having nightmares about the tournament. So when she gets note of this, Rita sends down a monster with the ability to bring nightmares to life. Jason will have to defeat his own nightmare before being able to defeat the monster and save the world with his team once more.
Episode 10 “Missing Blue”- Billy has to go compete in a National Skills Competition. The other rangers are worried about him leaving since he’s the brains of the team. In order to calm their nerves Billy creates an android to act in his place, the Blue Centurion. At first everything is all good but after an attack from one of Rita’s monsters, the Blue Centurion is captured and is reprogrammed by Finster to infiltrate the Power Ranger team and destroy them.
Episode 11 “The Power’s Always Greener Pt.1”- After facing multiple defeats from the Power Rangers, Rita decides to add a new warrior to her ranks. She goes deep within her palace where she unboxes a Power Coin. Rita spies on a boy named Tommy Oliver, a martial artist who defeated the leader of the Rangers in the Angel Grove Martial Arts Tournament. Because of that she decides to make him her new Green Ranger. Tommy as the Green Ranger thrashed the other Rangers.
Episode 12 “The Power’s Always Greener Pt. 2”- The Rangers are confused after being defeated by this new Green Ranger. The Green Ranger returns with a teleportation monster to wreak more havoc on the Rangers. In this episode Billy is captured and is tortured by the Green Ranger. The Rangers eventually free him but are forced to retreat yet again.
Episode 13 “The Power’s Always Greener Pt. 3”- The Rangers are still reeling from two back to back beatings from the Green Ranger. In this episode the Green Ranger infiltrates the Command Center and fights the Rangers. The battle ends with the destruction of Zordon’s tank, Alpha destroyed, and the Command Center wrecked as the Green Ranger finds a circular hologram device that reveals a map to find the Sword of Darkness. He takes the map back to Rita and they prepare to head to the Andromeda Galaxy to search for it. In this episode the Rangers discover the identity of the Green Ranger.
Episode 14 “Reinforcements from Space”- Waking up after another defeat at the hands of the Green Ranger, The Rangers feel like everything is hopeless. Billy doesn’t have the resources to fully rebuild Alpha (who’s now just a severed head), Zordon’s tank and data chip (the one Alpha used to upload his consciousness into the tank) has been damaged, and the Command Center’s been wrecked. Next thing they know, a ship lowers down to where the Command Center is. The Rangers go outside to see who it is and they meet Andros and Zhane, Red & Silver Rangers from Space. They’ve come to help after receiving a distress signal from Alpha before his destruction. The Rangers rebuild Alpha with the resources Andros & Zhane have. Once he’s back up and running Alpha tells the Rangers what the Green Ranger was looking for, the map for the Sword of Darkness. After explaining what the Sword of Darkness is, the Rangers all agree that they have to head to the Andromeda Galaxy to stop Rita & The Green Rangers from getting the sword. The Rangers, Alpha, Andros, and Zhane take the ship into hyperspace and to the Andromeda Galaxy.
Episode 15 “Rangers In Space Pt.1”- Entering the Andromeda Galaxy, The Rangers try to find the coordinates for the Sword of Darkness based on Alpha’s memory but his memory is too damaged so they only get bits and pieces of the map. So they decide to go to a planet called Auni-Comara in order to find an inventor to fully fix Alpha’s memory. Meanwhile Rita, Goldar, Finster, Scorpina, and Tommy follow the map but are attacked by a Rogue Zord, damaging the ship and making them head to Auni-Comara as well.
Episode 16 “Rangers In Space Pt.2”- Finally arriving at Auni-Comara, the Rangers search for this inventor. Meanwhile Rita and her minions arrive as well and discover that the Rangers are on the planet. They launch an attack on them, separating them from each other.
Episode 17 “Rangers In Space Pt.3”- The Rangers arrive on the planet where the Dark Sword is, but so have Rita’s forces. The Rangers have an intense battle against Rita’s forces for the Sword of Darkness. Jason and Tommy draw away from the battle in order to go for the sword. Their battle is intense but Tommy still comes out on top, taking Jason down and getting a hold of the Sword of Darkness. Tommy receives a massive boost of power from the Sword of Darkness and with this power he takes down every single Ranger there, displaying an even greater show of Power than he did before. Now with the Sword of Darkness, Rita and her minions head back to the Milky Way Galaxy to destroy Earth.
Episode 18 “Rangers In Space Pt.4”- While the other Rangers recover from their battle, Andros and Zhane attempt to halt Rita from leaving the Andromeda Galaxy. They end up fighting Tommy with the Sword of Darkness but due to his mass increase in power the two are outmatched. During this battle Zhane is critically injured and is put in cryogenic slumber to survive. Having lost their battle, the Rangers have to make haste and rush back to Earth. Once back on Earth the Rangers prepare to attempt to destroy the Sword of Darkness, preparing to potentially sacrifice their lives in the process.
Episode 19 “Corrupted Power”- As Tommy wreaks havoc across Angel Grove with the sword, the Rangers arrive on the scene and…yeah it doesn’t go well again. The Sword of Darkness is only fueling the power of Rita’s mind control on Tommy, the only way to take it away is to get through to him…by destroying Rita’s magic wand. The Rangers use the new Pterodactyl formation for their Megazord in order to fly up to Rita’s palace and take the fight to her. While up there the Rangers are forced to fight both Goldar and Scorpina. It’s a hard fought battle, the Rangers are able to defeat Goldar, making him shrink back down to size. Meanwhile Scorpina still gives them trouble. Rita calls Tommy to the Moon in order to guard her. As he gets to the moon he sees Goldar, defeated, but still alive…before using the Sword of Darkness to BLOW HIM UP!!
Episode 20 “May The Power Protect You”- The Rangers continue to fight against Scorpina on the Moon. Zack tells Jason to go after Rita, because sitting here while they fight isn’t going to do them any favors. Zack says he’ll hold down the fort till he gets back, Jason is hesitant, but ultimately understands and goes out to Rita’s palace. Billy, who has been to Rita’s palace, goes with him to help him get around. The two are attacked by Putties which they quickly dispose of before finally getting to where Tommy, Rita, and Finster are. As Jason goes to destroy Rita’s magic wand, Tommy tackles him off the balcony and the two plummet to the ground. From there on Tommy and Jason have yet another battle. Jason once more gets overwhelmed, this time due to the sheer power of the Sword of Darkness. Zack, Kimberly, and Trini are faring better against Scorpina, but they are knocked down once Tommy uses the sword to blast them, giving Scorpina the advantage yet again. As Scorpina and Tommy prepare final attacks to finish off the Rangers, Billy destroys Rita’s magic wand, releasing Tommy of her mind control and shrinking Scorpina back down to her original size. With this new advantage, the Megazord picks Scorpina up and throws her far into the empty abyss of space. Rita is also defeated, Billy having used one of her spells against her to trap her back into another space dumpster before destroying her wand. As the Rangers & Tommy surround the dumpster, it suddenly glows rainbow colors and is teleported away. The Rangers take Tommy to the Command Center where he speaks to Zordon, who is now back thanks to Billy being able to fix the data chip. Tommy is forgiven as he was not in control of his actions, he congratulates the Rangers on beating Rita. However he warns them that there are more threats that will try to purge their world. Then we cut to a HUMONGOUS Zord (Serpentera) where we see a bunch of Zentinels and eventually lead into a room with three beings. Silverback, Rito…and Lord Zedd. Silverback tells Zedd that they have gotten word from Finster that Power Rangers have been spotted in the Milky Way Galaxy, and have sealed away Rita once more. Zedd then tells them to set course for the Milky Way Galaxy.
