A Sudden Farewell

Oh sweet, sweet Mei,

I'm afraid that I won't be able to visit Xing like I planned.. I don't really know how to make this sound any better, but my body is slowly giving out.. It could be days, weeks, or even months..

Even if I may not have done everything I would have liked, I am happy for the things I've done, and I'm especially happy for the people I've met.

I just want to thank you for everything you've done. Words cannot explain how grateful I am towards you, nor can words explain these sudden emotions, and feelings that occur when ever the thought of you comes to mind.

If you would like to come to Resembool, Winry said she'd get a room fixed up for you and everything.. And it'd be really nice to see you again.

But no matter what may happen, I want you to keep smiling, and to never give up. You're an amazing, and courageous person.. I'll always remember the times we shared, as they were some of the best moments in my life.

I must be going now, brother is wanting to visit for a moment.

Ed pulled a piece of cloth off of the corner of Al’s shirt and with as much pressure as he could, he pressed on the wound.

He winced at the sudden pressure for a moment, but sighed gently as he held onto his brother. "T-thank you.." At that moment, he wasn't scared anymore. Even if Ed caused this to happen, he didn't care. He trusted him no matter what.

“I can’t let you die!” he cried, still holding, “Y’re my only brother!”

"I-I'm not going to die!" He managed to let out a pretty stern reply, even if it wasn't like him. "L-listen.. I have an idea.. I-if you can, rip a piece of my shirt off, and try to put enough pressure on the wound, b-but if it doesn't, I'll try and close it up with alchemy.."

Something about Al’s voice jolted him back to reality, it was probably the tone and the inaudibility of the sound.

He nearly cut his tongue dropping the knife on the floor besides him in shock, when he glanced where Al had fallen.

“Al?”

Words could not describe how terrified he was, even if he went through so much as a child, this was somehow different. "W-what happened... to you?" A harsh cough came in between his words when he spoke, which made even more blood seep through his fingers.

That was that. There was nothing he could do. He was too weak to cover up his own wound, and even try to use alchemy to stop it. If something didn't change in these last seconds, or minutes if he was lucky, he would die right here in the kitchen.

Ed vaguely remembered what happened next.

There was blood on the tiles when he finished, and he was licking the blood off the knife that he was holding.

Where did he cut Al? He hoped it wasn’t a fatal spot, he was still craving for more of the red stuff..
