monique’s pause made trevaunn come to. he realized what he had said from the look on her face.  shit.  the timing wasn’t great, but it wasn’t like he was planning on proposing tonight.  “uh, i--it’s a funny story, actually.” trey chuckled dryly, scratching at his beard.  “i was gonna propose...what -- like a year and a half into our relationship.  that same night, we got into it...took a break.  i kept the ring, though.  i knew i was gonna marry you eventually,” his gaze shifted back up to mo and his smiled contorted into laughter.  “you can relax, mo -- we not getting married right now.”
