LO6 - Card design prototype
Tumblr media
Inside the box, these are what the cards would look like with all card fronts having a purple glistening front, with the back of the card with each type of potions with an ingredients list on what they would need to get.
In terms of boxing if a prototype were to be in a box, the board would fit inside a rectangle box so the board would not get ruined, this also makes it easy in terms of packing as the cards already have a slot to be put into and characters will be contained in a zip lock bag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the packaging and size of these games as they are clean and tidy on the inside and the packaging for Cluedo give me a witchy mystery vibe. The way I could describe the packaging is that the age and a quote would be at the bottom like Othello, and a detailed front with a witch pot brewing potion ingredients with witches at the front with a bold title.

Game Anglia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At Game Anglia students attended this experience, giving everyone opportunities with discussing to different people across the gaming industry who are developers and want to begin building their own professional network. I learnt at Game Anglia that everyone started from a low point and built their network through consistency and perseverance. It was interesting to listen to other peoples stories on how they became developers for different games and developers have worked with many people which may come from different countries. At Game Anglia, I had played a variety of games which were displayed, although I may be a bit biased and enjoyed the Disney game the most, it was also a game where you can enjoy it with multiple people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When my project for 'Locum' had to be presented, I have to say it was refreshing to watch others who had no clue about our game. I think my favourite moment was when someone kept spinning our plushie within the game because they didn't know how to unzip the back of the plushie, however they eventually understood what they were looking for.

Potion prototypes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the process of creating a potion, where I start off with the outline to give me a concept and idea on what I am working with. I made sure beforehand to look on pinterest on different potions aesthetics and designs I hadn't done before and what I could produce. I chose a green potion with different herbs that float around in the middle and showed my progress of how I created my potion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This came out to be my final design and I am very happy with the outcome.
Tumblr media
This was another potion prototype of what I had created however this was more of a practice run as I was learning to use different affects and brushes and it was fun experimenting because it gave me different ideas on what the different brushes could be used for.
Tumblr media
This was another prototype from looking on Pinterest at different types of potions and came up with the idea of doing a crystalized potion effect and through the experiment I thought it looked quite pretty. My thought process for each potion was to make sure each potion product looked different to each other but had their own charms to themselves and colours, I was glad to use different brushes and not give up on the fact my iPad had broke.

Card model design:
This is my Design board to give me different ideas on colours, themes, etc.
Tumblr media
This will give me inspiration on what I could draw, expanding my idea and thoughts on what designs I could produce.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I came up with these ideas for my card designs with the front and the back, these colours were chosen with the intention of giving whimsical vibes but also making the designs mostly purple as the idea of the game was based on the characters of 'witches'. When I think of purple I think of witches.

Problems:
I had realised through the project my time schedule was fine up until the point which I had broken my iPad and I think it was my fault for not realizing it may have taken more than days to just to be fixed, so I had to think about alternative situations, starting from doing more research to catch up on the loss of time and producing a bit more 3D models however I solved my art problem from borrowing my sisters iPad which made me able to continue designing my board game designs, however with the loss of time I couldn't produce a physical outcome.

Game board 3D model
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the layout of the board game where everyone would be able to start on the FIRST BOTTOM LEFT square and anyone would be able to change directions for the rest of the game.
Tumblr media
I made a card holder in the middle where the cauldron would also be placed as the placement in my eyes matter and it would make the most sense for the important objects to be in the middle for everyone to interact with.
Tumblr media
I made the board have some colour as a starting point to give me some sort of idea on what the board would look like for colour wise. I do think I could have done a lot better but with little time this was what I could produce. If I had more time what I would have done was UV wrap it with a design pattern onto the board with my own art style and create those designs in ibis paint x on my own and make the squares have symbols which would symbolize what you could win or lose.
Tumblr media
I had slanted the card slot as this can make it easier for people to grab a card instead of struggling to get the cards in the card slot and having a hard time.

Item Progression
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are The accessories which will be used in the board game which you would put into the cauldron pot, this is to signify an 'ingredient' from a player, and these would be to signify each players colour character on how many ingredients they have gathered. I made two different colours just to include variety but if this was an official game there would be a lot more of a variety in colour.

Cauldron Progression
Tumblr media
This caulron pot is for the board game which would be placed in the middle to collect all the little objects which would represent as 'potion ingredients' and the different colours of the small balls would represent each character on how many ingredients they would have.

Witch Hat progression
This was my first attempt in doing a witch hat for my whimsical game.
Tumblr media
Then I used a YouTube video as a guide on what went wrong for me and I realised that I was doing it much more complicated and time consuming that it should have been.

My little witch figurine for the board game! Red

Magenta

Cyan

Pink
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yellow
For a board game I made each character figurine is a different colour so it gives people variety on what to pick from. These figures are low poly since they would be small on a board game and miniature. The colours also are a way for people to differentiate each other as you may designate a colour to yourself within the game.
