2014 has been so kind of me.

Like any other year it's been a mix of good and bad.

The year started on a high note.

I celebrated my first holiday season in foreign soil.

I didn’t have my friends and family with me physically but I got by just fine.

Then I lost my job.

I strive to do well in my work and my getting fired was a surprise.

It was difficult to process that fact.

And now I take that as part of life’s experiences.

I was broke for some time.

I couldn’t shop, couldn’t buy anything I wanted.

I had to save money and prepare for the worse.

Then a new opportunity knocked on my door.

I found a new job. 

The new job I found pays me well.

And my new job has let me travel to places I never thought I’d go to.

My parents arrived in US soil for the first time.

I never thought it’d happen but they were able to go here!

I didn’t see them for more than a year.

And we got to travel several states and locations in the east coast.

Most especially, we got to spend some time as a family.

And then, my dreams started becoming reality.

I went to New York- the city of dreams. Not once but 4 separate times and got to go there for vacation.

I saw Broadway shows! I got to shop! I saw snow! I got to party in the city of lights!

I moved to a high-rise apartment building in Florida.

New furniture and home articles were in order at the same time.

When I wake up in the morning I see a gorgeous view of the river reflecting the light of the sun.

Before I sleep at night I see colorful lights and a picturesque view of the gorgeous sunset sky.

I purchased a lot of new things. I got a new laptop. I got a new phone. I bought a bunch of new mid-tier clothes.

I bought a bunch of new things for others as well. For my family and for my friends who I rarely see.

Thanksgiving and Christmas was celebrated with people who mean a lot to me instead of being alone.

I realized a lot of things too.

My life is okay where it is. I am enjoying my life. I am single and I am happy. I don’t think I’ll have it any other way anymore.

I sort of changed again this year. Some things I stopped doing before I am doing again. 

I realized we just choose different cards to use against life. Every part of our yesterday is still with us. We just continue to evolve but never completely change.

I’m thankful that I am continuously blessed. I’m very grateful that I am happy and comfortable.

I’m sure that 2015 will be difficult like any other year or day prior. But it doesn’t mean life is never sweet. 

My only wish is that I get to see the people who matter to me the most in person. I need to seriously start working on making that dream another reality. Just like I did to other dreams that came true for me this year.

On to the new day. New year. New people. New experiences. Renewed optimism!
