they shouldn't be positive—that's my favorite part about them. mari, a follower with a lack of self-preserverance and a loud mouth, and nat, a provider whos done nothing but fight to live and feels she's earned being a smart ass. they should be butting heads constantly, and they do. but, mari changes. she makes a choice—to believe in nat, not to fix her 'begging to get smacked' attitude—and lets herself lead, in her own way.

I think pre-crash would've been messy, maybe more due to the setting and less because of themselves, but in canon? they bring out the best in each other, eventually.

they're actually my favorite side-ship I put in my writing practice. Like, just having them live in a dorm/apartment together to world build. big soft spot for them.

jackielot is lowkey so underrated and special to me just bc their dynamic is SO fascinating. the way they went from mutual tolerance/subtle friendship to an active hatred for each other just because of the wilderness?? insane. their dynamic during doomcoming?? also insane. they had a relationship similar to taissa and lottie in a way, with jackie being the one that still has humanity and a sense of normalcy, and lottie being completely aligned with the wilderness and the most distant from societal rules. i lowkey wonder how their relationship would've played out if jackie had lived
