We talk a lot of drivers need better media training, but James Vowles almost surpasses them in not knowing to shut up or be at minimum morally gray.
You fuck over a driver who it's clear you didn't like, I mean (and correct me if I'm wrong) rejected from the junior program of your previous. You bring him up too early and have him in a terrible car and act like he should be on par with his veteran teammate. You say you support, but show you don't every step of the way. Rumors are constant and you keep talking about replacing him to media. You take on a new driver and he gets a million posts and you talk about him like he's your one true love, while the driver leaving gets ONE post with like two sentences AFTER the signing announcement. Then you fire your driver one race after the summer break and replace him with an F2 rookie, repeating the cycle.
THEN, then, you insult him and you insult Mick Schumacher. Calling him not special. Which is shitty to do regardless of thoughts of his ability.
And don't get me started on how this behavior reflects on your current number one driver. He has never gotten this much praise despite the way he was constantly the comparison point for the driver you just ousted.

williams: makes a post announcing they've signed sainz BEFORE announcing logan's exit from the team.
fans: ...wtf?
williams: makes a post announcing colapinto is going to take over logan's seat for the remainder of the season BEFORE thanking logan for his time with them.

I'm just happy Logan is up out of there. That is, James has made it clear he creates a toxic workplace for his drivers. And I do mean both because he is up Carlos' ass and not much is said about Alex.
Also, this proves that the "this is a business" isn’t the real answer for this situation. If James and Williams made good business decisions, then a rookie wouldn't be in that seat right now as their attempt to "maximize points" in a car where your veteran driver only has 4.

Williams Racing has replaced Logan Sargeant with Franco Colapinto for the remainder of the 2024 season.
There’s so much I want to say but I truly don’t know how to gather my thoughts into words.
Williams rushed Logan out of F2 and into F1 prematurely. They gave him a seat, yes, but not the opportunity to succeed in it.
Logan waited weekends for upgrades his teammate had long since received. Logan had to drive in 2024 with parts from 2023 because of how unprepared the team was. Logan sat and watched from the sidelines as his car was given to his teammate. Logan returned the following race and drove the very same chassis his teammate crashed.
Logan did all of this with a smile.
Logan deserved so much better.
James Vowles has graced us with the following statement:
Tumblr media
I do find it quite ironic that they “need to maximise every points-scoring opportunity in a remarkably tight midfield battle” after completely glossing over the fact that the driver who did in fact originally bring home points this past weekend was disqualified due to an illegal floor caused by team error.
And “investing in our young drivers in the Williams Racing Driver Academy” will only do so much if you shove those same drivers into a seat and leave them to fend for themselves when it matters.
I hope Logan knows how many of us love and support him. I hope Logan knows that I watched him drive in the junior series and there’s no doubt in my mind that he has the skills to succeed if given the opportunity. I hope Logan knows that I will keep cheering him on no matter where he decides to go next.
And as for Williams … I will keep supporting their drivers but I certainly will not be supporting a team who has tried to paint themselves as lovable underdogs but repeatedly shown their true colors throughout this past season.
I’m sure there’s something I forgot to add, but my heart hurts and my thoughts are a veritable mess.
But, no matter where Logan ends up landing, be that IndyCar or another series, I can’t wait for him to kick ass.
What the fuck is a kilometer 🦅

Not me wondering why I was seeing no Williams posts on twt, then remembering I blocked them before the summer break.

I'm about to manifest (be delusional):
RB signs Logan and Yuki teaches him how to be more aggressive in his racing.
Part of Logan's problem is that he often doesn't go for it and he needs to be on a team that's a little toxic when it comes to going for it.

The delusions are definitely a group effort. James because he's clearly losing his hold on his fake positivity and Carlos because he and his team dragged this out and now better spots are gone.

Sorry but what delusions has JV fed to this man?

Logan losing his seat to Carlos is a clear case of discrimination against those with appendixes, in this essay I will —

I'd already made my peace with Logan leaving Williams, largely because I don't want him there even if they offered a multi-year, no movement clause type contract. So I'm not going to waste time talking about that, but I can't wait to see if they lose sponsors.
However, I will talk about how I think the Sainz camp overplayed their hand and now he's stuck with a team way below the one he's currently at. Because you can't tell me they saw Australia and onward and thought that it was the perfect place for him to land. Anywhere else was better. Anywhere. Which makes me wonder, do they think he's going to bring on sponsors that will help them find the light at the end of the tunnel?
Anyway, I have no feelings about the man one way or another, this just seems stupid from a business point of view and career. Though I guess when you have a back up team coming soon it works out.
