Rolling out the mid week special bodyweight at home exercise option, the triple lunge. Awesome option to get the quads rocking before transitioning into a hamstring/glute movement on a lower body day or a dynamic plank movement if you’re rolling full body. Whether you are looking for an awesome stretch, a full body warm up, or an effective active recovery movement the Double Dog Hand Walkout is a great addition. Start with a hand walkout and then once you’ve moved into a high plank position work yourself into a downward dog position, hold briefly 1-3 seconds and then transition into an upward dog and hold another 1-3 seconds return to high plank and walk back to the starting position. And it’s official, time to turn the page on my 30’s and move into my 40’s. It was quite the decade, starting it out grinding away as a fitness manager of a local gym and finishing it up pushing through a challenging year as a proud business owner. In between I got to spend plenty of time not only helping my incredible clients reach their goals but also knocking out a few of my own. Whether it was competing and eventually winning a natural bodybuilding competition, running through a few Tough Mudders and rocking a 180 mile charity ride were just a few of the awesome challenges. Starting today it’s time to continue the #journey and set another decade worth of goals. If you’re looking for a a pretty killer full body combo that really beats up the core than give these Low Plank Plate Slide into Low Plank Obliques a try. All you need is a low resistance surface like a rug or carpet and a weight plate(Bumper and Metal both work). Stabilize yourself in a 3 point low plank with your arm grabbing the plate, extend your arm as far as it can go driving through the plate and then pull it back to the starting position. Once you’ve returned extend your knee on the working side towards your shoulder/elbow as far as your range of motion will allow. One your leg has returned to the floor you’ve completed one rep. “Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit when there are footsteps on the moon.” At ASF we focus not only on the the developing ideal workout programs to help our awesome clients reach their fitness goals, but also on the reason they want to achieve those goals. Every single one of them and us for that matter are on our own journeys and in the case of Libby @ejanebr and her teammates @teamrhymecurling they have been working incredibly hard to become curling national champions. In spite of the hard year we have all faced they have continued doing whatever they could to be ready and able to seize the opportunity to compete at the highest level of their sport. We can’t wait to be cheering them on when the national championships roll around and watch them work to put their footsteps on their moon.
