DID YOU KNOW?

that in wings album cypher pt 4 is the only track besides ‘begin’ that has only the member/s and foreign artists participated in the writing producing? the other 13 tracks included bighit staff as well other local artists in the song production, not saying having local producers is a bad thing, it does nothing to devalue any sort of song production, just to put it out there. its just with cypher pt 4, they had received the initial draft from overseas and then worked the song to completion all by themselves. its like.. they’re not in second grade anymore you know? they don’t need a ‘teacher’ to go over their ‘homework’ ㅠㅠ and to get that kind of trust from bighit.. idk i just feel proud they can get by with themselves now ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

and that in cypher pt. 4, the first lines right here

“name, name!” sorry bae “pronunciation, pronunciation!” sorry bae “diction, diction, diction!” sorry bae “oh, face not an idol..” sorry bae

are the stuff that ppl call namjoon out for. ppl make fun of his stage name rap monster all the time especially when they first debuted, his manner of speaking/rapping that was supposedly too unorthodox to korean standard, and of course, his face for not having a standard ‘idol beauty’ hm

and when namjoon further says

because i am breathing, i’m sorry bae because i am so healthy, i’m sorry bae i do broadcasts, i’m sorry bae errthing errthing errthing sorry bae

he means i’m sorry for being alive. um not really.

theres a running gag in korean where ppl say ‘something-habnida’ to indicate they’re sorry for something. it actually stems from the word 죄송합니다, which means ‘i am sorry’. ‘죄송/joisong’ means ‘apology/feeling ashamed/being sorry’ while ‘합니다/habnida’ means ‘i do’

so when namjoon says ‘방송합니다/bang-songhabnida’, which literally means ‘broadcasting’, he most likely instead, meant,

‘because i’m a bangtan, im sorry bae’

i was pleasantly surprised when namjoon used satoori all of a sudden, since he’s from seoul and often told us how he’s not good at speaking in dialect. he did it so at that part where he comments on how bored he gets with the same kind of diss and i couldn’t help but glee. it is bold, provocative, kinda elevates the emphasis of the whole sentence structure tbh namjoon sounded a bit cocky but in cool way, if you know what i mean~

also i thought everyone should know that samulnori is a korean traditional genre of percussion music that is performed with four instruments; two gongs and two drums. these instruments are thought to represent the different weather conditions: the rain, the thunder, the sounds of the wind, and the cloud. so can you understand how hurting it was to see him allowing himself be the drums for ppl to hit on continuously at all weather…

but then i thought of how gentle and a poet namjoon is knowing how samulnori originates from farmers music, nong-ak (a korean folk genre comprising of music, acrobatics, folk dance, and rituals), which was usually performed in farming villages in order to ensure and celebrate good harvests. and because of this it feels like he is challenging everyone like yeah okay, alright, just go ahead and mock me, go ahead, and hit me. hit me hard and good. i’ll turn out to be the best no thanks to you.

with hoseok though, with hoseok, his verses are almost always undeviating but at the same time, fierce. and his way of half rapping and half singing signature always makes me feel some kind of something

it is very clear how hoseok projects his mind. the movie ‘players in a league of their own’ that he (probably) mentioned tells a story about strong, independent females, where at the height of world war II in 1943, were never thought of as competent and able to do hard work. women back then were traditionally regarded as inferior to men in both power and status. however, during that time, many male baseball players were admitted for army services. so in order ‘to maintain baseball in the public eye while the majority of able men were away, prominent baseball figures got together to form the nonprofit all american girls professional baseball league.’ which basically means that the league was made just to fill in the gap left by men who went to war. but to everyone amazement, the league survived for more than a decade and achieved great success in many championships!

by referencing to that one movie that made more people appreciate the existence of a once flourishing female organization that thought to have little chance of winning, hoseok is basically saying that if these ladies who had little status in society back then can do it, are able to surpass everyone expectation, then what do i have to lose?

and can we um? appreciate? his beautiful? ambition??

now the last few lines are metaphors yoongi used to diss back at haters without incorporating actual vulgar words which i thought was brilliant cos 똥차 literally means ‘poop car or honeywagon’ uknow those trucks that are for collecting and carrying human excreta. it is also referred to actual beat-up cars or in another context, an ex-boyfriend with shitty attitude. on the other hand, 콩깍지 literally means ‘beans pod or soybeans shaft’, which are those peels on soybeans. theres a saying in korea that when you first fall in love with someone, these peels will cover your eyes and make you blind to each others flaws before they peel off after a couple of months.

in other words, the whole sentence basically means ‘i will make the public see those flaws of you haters right away so they can dump your delusional shitty asses and fly away with us’

and i love how at the end, like a true gentleman, yoongi just placidly throw it out there for ppl to reflect;

on another note, its a bit unfortunate with what happened to some instrumental parts in the producing track already used by a dutch group in 2015 but it was an honest mistake, which had already been cleared up by both sides so ^^

and now with bangtan getting more and more recognition, btw today marks their 5th consecutive win on music broadcasts, which means they’ve won all the music shows ever since their comeback with ‘blood, sweat & tears’ ㅠㅠ and they will receive the minister of culture, sports and tourism award this 27th thats a real honor right there, and they appear on local news broadcasts now guys i still cant processed that ㅠㅠㅠㅠ and their latest international chart dominance in billboard canadian hot 100, which is a new territory got me emotional thinking back how they were underdogs just three years ago

i just want to thank bang-pd so much for allowing bangtan to invest their thoughts and create exactly what they want, something that is extremely lacking in many kpop bands. i want so much to give him a hug, the members’ families, and every staff in bighit that have helped groomed our boys into beautiful well-versed artists with beautiful souls.

idk how else to say other than the afct that we have come a long way armys we’ve come a long way. and we did so good guys we did so good as a team i wanna hug everyone in this fandom like honestly we’ve been through a lot and although paldogangsan was what got me into bangtan, that hyyh era will always mean a little more to me..

so lets continue to love and support them for however long it will be, yeah? lets continue to walk in love ♡
