If you think DDBA is bad, let it be bad.

There is this warped thing happening across the fandom, not just on Tumblr, where someone finds a bone to pick about DDBA (there are many valid ones) and takes it past its natural conclusion, to “I hate ____ and so should you.”

The Netflix show was amazing, but this pedestal some people have it on is absurd. There were enormous plot holes, weird choices and mistakes in the original series, including the much-idolized third season. This has never been a perfect show or a perfect franchise.

Disney fumbled their first attempt at the reboot, and who knows if it’ll get better, but there are still things about it that are wonderful. I personally love seeing actors who adore each other getting to work together again. I love how passionate these people are about their characters. I love how it’s trying to figure out what it will be, and how it’s different on different rewatches like the original was. I’m mad about some stuff, but calling for cancellation because you didn’t get your way or you think you know better or you’ve imagined some parasocial feud is small and weird. No one is forcing you to watch the new season or continue engaging with it. You can rewatch the old show as much as you like.

Let people enjoy things.

Just a few quick questions from your gifter for DDE: 1) I presume that other than Frank Castle, theres no other E65 characters that are a no for you? 2) are you looking for more plot with a aide of shipping, or shipping with a side of plot?

It is okay to include Frank if he's like, part of the problem/conflict- which, given that you're asking about E-65 is pretty much a given. I'm just not so much about him being part of a ship or "the gang".

When I say I'm doing hot girl shit, this is what I mean.

Foggy is woefully underrepresented in the world of Marvel trading cards, so I was really excited when I learned he was going to be included in the new "Beginnings" set... and then I saw the card. This card is... bad. It's a terrible angle, the lighting obscures the character's face, the clothing is bland and a far cry from Foggy's normal clothing, and it just doesn't look like the Foggy Nelson fans love. (To top it off, this picture doesn't actually depict Foggy at all, for complicated plot reasons, but that's another story.) The other cards in this set don't look this bad, or at least *look like the character*, so this was a HUGE disappointment. To top it off, the card layout itself isn't great? It's just generic all around.

So I decided to try and improve it.

After watching a youtube tutorial by a guy who "cleans" pokemon cards (for some reason I am not deep enough in the trading card or pokemon hobby to understand) I found out that I could remove the design from a holographic (and therefore plastic coated) card with some acetatone. Using some plastic washi tape, I marked off the border to keep the "official trading card" aspect intact, but removed the artwork. It took some scrubbing but I got it done with minimal damage to the border.

I purchased clear sticker paper and with some trial and error printing (at the copy shop and eventually at home) I got a decent print on the sticker paper. I used a plain cardsleeve to trace a template based on the card frame (particularly the little circle portrait) and then but the sticker to match and applied it as carefully as I could.

I'm pleased with the way it came out! I like that the sticker print is still a bit translucent so the holographic foil still shows through. I am willing to bet I spent more time and energy "fixing" this card than the printer did designing it in the first place, but ah well. At least I know how to do it!
