SHADOW PROMPT 3: ITâS GOOD TO BE HOME
What does the place look like? [Images up above]
Where in town do they live? In a little house off the beaten path facing the woods (not too far from the trails)
What kind of place is it? Itâs a house that she is renting
How long have they lived there? 6 months
Do they have any roommates/live with family? Do they keep a stowaway in their attic? Nope. She lives all on her lonesomeÂ
Do they have any pets? Not in less you count herÂ
What is the layout of the place like? How many bedrooms or bathrooms does it have? Does it have a parlor? A living room? A library? A skylight? A hot tub? A ocean view? How big or small are the rooms? There is 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 living room, a small kitchen and a little backyard.
Do they own it or rent it? Rent it!
Is there any history or rumors surrounding the place? Any ghost stories or famous previous owners? Nope. The little house is fairly new and there has only been a couple other renters before her. Sheâs cuban. She doesnât mess with ghosts and can be superstitious.Â
If there was a fire and they could only save one item in the space, what would they save? A leather jacket. Lia doesnât have many items she holds onto, especially not from the past, but the one person who had been kind to her in a time when her world was falling apart gave it to her. And for that, sheâd make sure to go back in to get it. ( @mateosanroman )
Which room or place in the space is their favorite? And how is it decorated? The living room. Itâs tiny and fairly empty, with limited furniture and a couple boxes she still hasnât gotten around to unpack (sheâs a terrible procrastinator). But, in it, is a splatter paint wall she created during her founderâs day charity date and every time she looks at it, she canât help but smile. ( @jasminedmorris ).

James nodded empathetically and rested a hand on her shoulder. He lowered his voice.
âHey, I get it. When my dad died, the pack didnât seem quite right. Then things with NoahâŚit was hard to find my footing and to figure out what the right choices were. But I had everyone here and yeah, like you, I chose to trust them,â He explained. A small smile surfaced on his face, and he hoped that he was an example to instil a little bit of hope for her. âBut everyone here, theyâre loyal. They really look out for one another. I wouldnât have taken you in if you didnât strike me that way, too. You belong here, and maybe that feeling of belonging takes some time, but it works out.â He sighed softly. âI donât know if thatâs what you wanted to hear or what, but itâs what I think.â
âNo. Itâs was. I think itâs just hard. You know? Feeling like you belong somewhere after everything?â She said with a little nod. âBut, thanks. Honestly, it means a lot,â She told him with a little smile, suddenly feeling a little better about everything.

Juliet smiled.  âIâm a vampire,â she clarified.  âI donât need to eat out unless I feel like treating myself.â And generally speaking, she didnât like going alone. Kai didnât eat human food at all, so he made for a poor dinner date.
âOh. Sorry. I didnât know,â Lia told the other with a little smile, finally noticing the other womanâs teeth as she spoke.

Mags went to wave her off, her eyes half glazed over with sleep as she patiently waited for the barista to call out her coffee order, when the name wormed itâs way into her brain. Wide emerald eyes watched Lia as she grabbed her coffee, Mags voice catching in her throat. She knew that name. Had spent hours passing over it as she researched and researched and researched. âYou never said your last name was DiazâŚâ She trails off, her voice a mere whisper.Â
âWhat?â Lia asked, turning towards the blonde beside her having caught her whisper with her werewolf hearing. âOh, yeah, it is. I-it means Day in Spanish?â Lia offered up with a little smile, taking a sip out of her coffee.

Liv silently thanked Lia once more, she returned her smile with one of her own. âIâm not really the throwing in the lake type so donât worry.â Letting her know that she wouldnât be pulling any of her brothers antics. When Lia stopped protesting her offer Liv smiled proudly on the inside, she was pleaded with herself for getting Lia to agree. âNo, you canât. Plus I wasnât going to let you anyways.â She remarked with a laugh of her own. âThatâs fine. It is. I mean hey you never know when you need a quick wash and fluff.â While Liv knew some found it odd it had been a great little station over the years to help the wolves get clean after a night out. âSo besides falling into water what have you been up to?â
âWell thatâs good, because, between that and the full moon, Iâm running out of clean clothes,â She told Liv with a little smile. âOkay. Well if Iâm being held against my will, than sure. Iâd love to,â She giggled. âUm... honestly? Nothing much? Trying to finally unpack the last of my boxes? Get the paint off of my floor from my founderâs day date. What about you? Anything interesting going on?â

âGot it Lia. Itâs pretty and I shall call you Lia for now on.â Danielle returned the warm smile. âWell just think about it for the future and let me know.â She told Amelia. The brunette was glad to learn that the other woman didnât have any trouble. âGood, Iâm glad. And hey if you ever want to learn, I can totally show you how to make a cocktail. Or maybe I can just get one for you?â She offered. âSince you did save me, your drinks are on the house tonight.âÂ
âAww. Thanks. And can I call you Dani or do you prefer Danielle?â Lia asked, resting her head in her hands as she spoke. âReally? Because that would be- amazing. And s-seriously?â She asked, her eyes widening as she spoke. âI hope you like seeing my face because I might never leave this place,â Lia giggled.

When she said she hated him, he shook his head. âYou donât really. But you know whatâs cominâ.â She held out her hand and the moment she did he pulled her into the water and laughed. âLia, first ruleâŚtrust no man. Even the cute ones like me.â Damien loved the carefree way that he sometimes had with people. With Lia especially. He actually felt like she was family.
âYou manipulative charmer, you,â Lia laughed, shaking her head as she bobbed up and down in the water wit him. âAnd maybe so, but I still got you to promise me first. So, pay up sucker. You owe me ice cream and the best hiding spot this full moon!â She teased, grinning over at him as she gave a playful splash, happy to spend the day with her fellow packmate. She liked the rest of the pack she did, but out of everyone, she couldnât help but feel most herself whenever her and Damien were fooling around.

âYes you,â she confirmed with a nod. âSure, Iâm always a fan of a challenge. I never like the easy route. The tougher the road ahead, the better the journey, in my book.â Her life had definitely not been easy so she found herself quite fond of the hardships. She saw how they shaped her. Rowan nodded. âI definitely have the ingredients. Iâve been meaning to make it but I havenât had any real reason to make it Iâm just one person so itâs easier to just throw on some noddles and call it a day.â She led her into the kitchen and grabbed one of the aprons she had on the hooks and put it on, handing the other to Lia. âIf you need a little help with it, Iâd be more than happy to help you put it on,â she said with a wink before she set out to grab the ingredients they each would need setting it all out.
âI get that,â Lia said with a little nod. âI mean- trust me, Iâd be happy to have things just be easy for once, but- I get how tragedy can um... turn you into someone you wouldnât have otherwise become? I donât know. I hope Iâm less naive now than I was back then,â Lia admitted with a little shrug. She was a different person now than the naive and carefree girl she started out was. And, even if she didnât regret her choices, a part of her sometimes wondered if she had actually changed for the better? âThen gumbo it is,â She smiled happily over at Lia, letting out a little laugh as Rowan asked if she needed help putting it on. âYou know now that you mention it, I just might,â She teased, giving Rowan a small smile.

âReally? i donât eat out too terribly often,â she admitted.  âSo I probably havenât either if Iâm being honest with myself.â
âYou donât? I feel like I eat out all the time. But, that might be because I still havenât finished unpacking yet. Itâs terrible. I- I keep on telling myself Iâll get around to it and just never have,â She told the other with a little shrug.

âThatâs good to know. I mean I would have been really good if I could have been on Survivor. That might have been my true calling in life.â She was joking, pretty sure that she would have hated the actual game. Plus now she had a distinct advantage during the challenge portion of the show. âI love summer, but I canât lie about how excited I am for autumn. Itâs my absolute favorite season. The leaves are going to be so beautiful.â Amanda gestured to the trees that had branches above them. As they started to change color, the forest lit up.

âYou know you still can be? Survivor is one of the few shows that might just never end,â Lia said with a little smile and a small shrug. âI get that. I guess Iâm just not ready for all of this to go away just yet,â She shrugged again, as she took in the nature around them as they headed down the trail. âBut, apple cider donuts and thanksgiving has always been something I could get behind.â

armstrong-jamesâ:
James could tell he hadnât given her the words she was looking for. He wished he could, he cared for everyone in his pack. Each member seemed to have their own chip on their shoulder, their own demons to carry. While James was by no means the shining example of perfection, he wished he could provide more support to Lia right now.
âLia, of course we do,â he said, leaning over and resting his hand on her shoulder. âYouâre one of us. By our side or on your own, youâll always have us,â he said. âI know right now those seem like just words, but I hope over time you will see them in action.â
âYeah,â She said with a little nod, nibbling on her lower lip as she gave James a little shrug. âI guess I just still havenât really found my place yet- in the pack? I mean I love everyone I do- especially Damien. Heâs become like a brother to me, but- I donât know. Itâs just hard, given what Iâve been through. But, if you trust me, I promise Iâll try my best to lean on you too,â She said giving James a little smile

âStill thank you, Amelia. Will do.â She chuckled a little bit when she heard Ameliaâs comment about standing behind the bar. âIf you ever need a job donât hesitate to ask. Could totally use you.â The brunette moved from behind the bar and started upstairs. Taking a quick shower, she got dressed and pulled her hair back before returning to Amelia, a small smile on her face. âHow did it go? They didnât give you that much of a hard time did they?â She asked, as she moved behind the bar.
âOh- my friends call me Lia,â She told the other with a warm smile. âHonestly? I might take you up on that. But, for now, Iâm okay,â She told Dani. Shaking her head when the girl asked if they gave her any trouble. âNope. Theyâve been perfect gentleman. But, seeing that I have no idea how to make any cocktail for that um... matter, I think Iâm going to move back to my rightful place on the other side of the bar,â She teased.

At Ameliaâs words Liv shifted uncomfortably, it wasnât that she didnât want to be honest it was just that she didnât want to get herself or Astrid in trouble. When Amelia promised not to tell or ask anymore questions Liv relaxed, she gave the other woman a smile. âThank you.â She said simply. While those around her knew there was still plenty that didnât, the less that knew the less likely this was to get out. âIt pretty much is. I meanâ sometimes descriptions just fit and thatâs one that just fits.â She remarked with a laugh. âAre you guys? Iâm glad that he has friends in the pack. If anyone deserves them itâs Damien. Heâs honestly one of the greatest people out there and he deserves good friends.â Smiling back at Amelia. âOhâ thatâs fine. Trust me so many people donât like their feet touched. If you want to come in I can walk you through everything? If anything I can do your nails or hair? First time is always free. Plusâ thereâs so many other things to do besides getting your feet touched. I even have a werewolf only area where we wash out your fur and fluff it up. Itâs kind of awesome and makes your inner wolf feel great.â
âYouâre welcome,â Lia told Liv with a tiny smile as if to tell her that it was okay. âYeah. He really does. Heâs a good guy your brother, at least when heâs not tossing me into the water with him,â She said with a small laugh at the thought. Out of everyone in the pack, Damien was definitely the one that reminded her most like family. âOh. Um... okay? I guess I canât say no to free can I? And I think Iâll stick to the options in human form? But, good to know?â She let out a little laugh, smiling over at Liv as she spoke.

When she held out her pinky, Rowan chuckled. She lifted her own hand, pinky out to make that promise. âPinky promise. And I pinky promise not to tell everyone what a smooth talker you are. Behind all that adorable, thereâs a whole lot of charm,â she told her then. âI can do that chicken empanadas or a cubano.â She laughed when the woman mentioned the dessert. âNow, Iâm willing to take a stab at it. I canât promise it will be good, but if I get to see that smile of yours again, Iâll try.â She thought for a minute about her favorite foods. Her first thought was her comfort food Mac n Cheese, but she remembered her absolute favorites were those growing up. âJambalaya or dirty rice stuffed peppers. Or the easy route of mac n cheese. But if you take the more difficult route of making me feel like iâve just traveled back to the French Quarter Iâd be a very happy lady.â They came to a halt at her apartment building, entering and unlocking the door. Her apartment was neat, it had a homey feel and it was filled with pictures of a family she didnât have anymore. Her coffee table was filled with loose papers, her computer and potential employee applications. âSorry about the mess,â she said as she started picking it al up. âI clearly bring my work home with me.â She quickly took it to the room sheâd made into a home office. âYou ready to get down and dirty in the kitchen,â she asked with a wink, leading the way into the kitchen then. Â
âW-who me?â Lia let out a little laugh, shaking her head a bit as she smiled over at Rowan. âWait- seriously? Just the fact that youâre willing to try is good enough for me,â She told the other with a happy little smile. âI can make Jambalaya. I hope you have all of the ingredients lying around but- my um... r-roommate actually used to be from New Orleans,â She told the other with a little smile. Technically it had been her cellmate until she was moved to a quarantine cell because of the full moons. But, at least it made the kitchen shifts a little bit more fun. âWhat?â Lia glanced over at her, shaking her head as she glanced around Rowanâs apartment, glancing over at some of the happy pictures of her and her family, before turning back towards Rowan and giving the blonde a little nod. âYes please!â

âWe said bowling,â Mateo said, the realization dawning on him then. He pressed his fist against his mouth and then dropped his hand, turning to look at her apologetically. âI am so, so sorry. With the first week of school and everything, Iâve had to fill out a lot of paperwork and get school supplies and new clothes and I justâ Iâm forgetting so much. No swimming or anything,â he shook his head. âWe can just⌠walk. Or we can still go bowling. Whatever you want. I just need to do something that isnât kid-related. For two hours.â
âN-no. Donât worry about it. Lucky for you, I like to hike too, and Iâd like to think Iâm a better walker than I am bowler so,â She told him with a little smile, shaking her head as he started to apologize. âCome on,â She said, grabbing his hand as she gave his sleeve a little tug in the direction of the trails. âA hike will be fun.â

âI- I know right? Iâve been living here for almost half a year now and I still havenât made a dent in their menu,â She told Juliet with a little smile.

âWell whereâs the fun in that.â Griff hopped off his bench and looked around the harbor. Alright, they needed a dope ass boat to sail away with. He rubbed his hands together and started down the docks, perusing their options. When he saw the mother of all yachts, he stopped and gasped. âWe gotta do this one. You wanna do this one? We gotta do this one.â
Lia blinked over at him as he looked through all the the boats, stopping at one of the biggest Yachts she had ever seen. Part of her wondered if she should tell him that stealing a yacht seemed wrong, even if they were only borrowing it temporarily, but instead she just gave him a little nod as she said, âUh.... um.... o-okay?â
