The Commandments of FCs

Any FC can have any personality. Your personality doesn’t have to match your FC. You can make a stereotypically sweet FC into a mean one or vice versa or anything in between.

Any FC can have any name. People rarely chose their own name. When picking a name instead of thinking of the FC, think of the character’s heritage, their culture, their parents and where they were born.

Chose an FC based on the look you want. Think about the age, build, hair color, skin color, things like that when choosing an FC.

Consider the ethnicity of your character and FC. It’s better to cast someone of a particular ethnicity than someone that passes for that ethnicity.

Consider underused FCs. There are a wealth of FCs that have few gifs or icons, but there’s plenty of RPHs out there willing to help you make resources. Don’t count out underused FCs.

Use your imagination. If you have an FC you really love, but they aren’t perfect that’s okay. You can fill in the rest with your writing.

Love your FC. FC choices are personal, so don’t let anyone force you into playing an FC you don’t want to play.

Be more accepting. Be more accepting of other’s FC choices. Remember that RPing is a hobby, and the FC isn’t everything. Writing is important, and online we used to RP without FCs.

Choose your partners based on writing chemistry. The FC should be secondary to playing with someone you have good writing chemistry with and get along with OOC.

Forget the rules and play what you like. At the end of the day RPing is a hobby and it’s for fun. You are not getting paid to be here, so you don’t have to follow any arbitrary rules.

A REALLY QUICK GUIDE.

If you’ve just created your account and you’re anxious for your tags to start showing up, here’s a few things you can do to boost the process!

Please note this post is a modified version of an ask I answered on the topic a little while ago.

First of all, the only way you’ll start showing up in the tags is if you become “active” in Tumblr’s eyes. Here’s what you can do to stimulate activity.

Leprosy (AKA: Hansen’s Disease)

In which you lose feeling in your arms and legs and then they fall off.

Class: Bacterial

Symptoms: numbness, tingling, swelling of the etremities, sores, thickening skin, congestion, nosebleeds, vision loss, blindness, deformity, loss of limbs

Diagnosis: Most average people still don’t know anything about leprosy, despite it being the oldest known disease. Additionally, most people with Hansen’s disease, as it’s now known, don’t live in colonies anymore. You also can’t catch it just be being in the same room as someone with leprosy; it’s transferred through respiratory droplets so just don’t keep your mouth open when that crunchy guy on the train sneezes on you. God also has nothing to do with leprosy either, but a certain “book” would like you to think otherwise.

Your limbs won’t just drop off, either. As leprosy further destroys your nerves, small wounds can form and go completely unnoticed until they’re gangrenous. This begets the deformation and then they begin to fall off.

Prognosis: These days, Hansen’s disease is fairly tricky to catch, but if you’ve caught it by hanging out on the wrong ashram, you’ll first notice patches of numb skin. They occur in the extremities such as hands, feet, and testicles. You won’t be able to sense temperature or a gentle breeze in the afflicted areas. Eventually, you’ll lose all sensation and the skin will get hard and begin to lose color. Then come the open sores which, if left untreated, turn gangrenous and rot. After this is when extremities begin to fall off. Again, extremities include hands, feet, and testicles.

Prevention: Wash your hands and avoid direct contact with others gangrenous stumps. 

Treatment: If caught early, leprosy can be easily treated with sunshine and puppies. No, that’s total bullshit. You’re gonna need antibiotics like rifampicin, dapsone, and clofazimine. If your disease is more advanced, docs may use thalidomide to treat you. (Which could result in birth deformities akin to American Horror Story’s Mat Fraser.)
