the likes of a fortune telling booth brough a hint of nostalgia to his senses , he thoroughly enjoyed the thought of fate being displayed out for one to bear witness to , and heed it’s warnings or to find advice in it’s guidence. to Ayato , fate was simply the path he would tread to ensure his family and home is fortified and kept safe from all threats… so this would be intricate and interesting.

taking his seat , modestly gloved hands did expertly shuffle to tarot cards before him , or what he assumed were the like , and placed the stack deck on the table before her , “ I am , it is that time of year that brings about the people of Teyvat to our nation once more … ” he reserves his speech as to not give her much basic information about him for a more accurate reading.

He must have been someone important — the way people seemed to veer around him or pass him the occasional awestruck glance was hardly subtle. Her fortunes were nothing if not reliable, but she couldn’t help releasing a small, shaky breath. The floral pattern on his outfit seemed to match the banners found around the festival, as well as a few of the samurai uniforms she’d seen. Right, she’d heard about him, hadn’t she? The Yashiro Commissioner?

Signe took the cards from him and spread them before him, not without studying the man intently. He was certainly handsome, and his features had a certain softness to them; it was difficult not to find herself drawn to him.

He may have guessed this in one of his few possible questions he had imagined, Thoma had made excellent work with the traveller and making sure every resistance member had been staged perfectly for the big showdown with the Shogun. Ayato was purely in grace and smile as he reacted kindly to Thoma's request.

" But of course , you have not left our side for even a moment , if you need this time for yourself then I only ask you take as much time as you need to see it through . Not a second less , me and my sister will handle things here , " he reassured, being more than capable of handling the official matters anyways... unofficial matters were another story, but he had the shimatsuban for those occasions.

with that conversation out of the way , Ayato offered up a sigh of slight relief… it was true he regretted ever having Thoma involved , but his role was just as important in the grand scope of events that had happened. he stares down at his tea momentarily as Thoma speaks, absolving every word spoken - until the mention of another question or concern was brought up.

“ oh ? and what might that be ? ” he asked plainly, lifting his teacup to sip on some his deliciously made tea.

              it’s not like he’s nervous to approach ayato with his request, just that it’s been a long time he’s even discussed anything like it. and, perhaps the topic just before has put him a little on edge. ayato is his employer, sure, but his friend, too. someone thoma trusts with his life. he could certainly expect a good response, right? 

               “i…was thinking of going for a trip, soon,” he starts, “the travel ban has lifted, and i was thinking the other day that it’s been…almost ten years since i’ve been back in mondstadt. there’s a festival coming up, where the winds are supposed to symbolize coming home…i thought it might be nice,” a shrug, thoma sips his tea, “and…well, my mother is buried there. i would like to visit her. i would come back, of course. but with travel time and all that…it might be a month, or so.”
