[Miyatama in Kis-My-Mint 04/01 - Fukuoka]

Miyatama tidbits from today’s two shows.

Miyata, Tamamori and Kitayama shared a room at the hotel and even took a bath together. When they came out of the bathtub, Tamamori poured shampoo on Miyata’s back so he had to wash himself again; during that time Tamamori smeared shampoo all over Miyata’s night yukata, Miyata wore it without realizing it and had to shower once again. Eventually, Miyata only slept in his pants, but despite this joke he didn’t get angry with Tamamori.

The following morning Miyata said he was going to leave the room earlier and asked Tamamori to take care of the key, but Tamamori refused so Miyata had to leave the room last; yet, he didn’t get angry. Miyata explaining laughing: “I’m something like Tamamori’s butler”. Hearing this, Tamamori smiled and whispered “Thank you”.

Looking at the postcard that was a bonus if you purchased the album at the venue - Kitayama: “Miyata looks better than usual!” Tamamori: “Show me, show me! …he looks as usual" 

Talk about the kiss posters found in the She! Her! Her! single. Miyata: "I found my beloved Tamamori at the first try!” Kitayama: “What if you didn’t find him?” Miyata: “I would’ve folded the poster and quietly put it in my desk drawer. But as it’s Tamamori, I’ve hung it”

Members poking fun at Miyata for trying to wear stylish clothes. Kitayama: “Today he wore red shoes! And they’re Gucci!!!” Miyata: “Hey, wait a sec! They have some like those on Final Fantasy!” *silence* “Isn’t it okay to wear a pair of Gucci shoes for once! You see, they’re the ones that Tama chose for me when we went shopping together!”

One of the guests was a boy, so they asked him who was he a fan of. Then Miyata asked Tamamori: “Ne, Tama-chan, who are you a fan of?” and Tamamori replied icily “I am going to KILL YOU.”

Apparently Miyatama touched each other a lot of time during the show and Tamamori was very deredere to Miyacchi in general. Not much happened in terms of MCs though, unless we count Fujigaya trying to divide them and calling them “Miyatama” (then immediately correcting himself to “Miyata and Tamamori”).

During “Love is you” Miyata tried to kiss Tamamori on the cheek (and failed)

During “Shake it up”, they were close all the time and kept shooting glances (or just plain looking) at each other and grinning.

During “Fire beat”, too (which reportedly wasn’t performed on carts like the previous shows, but on stage, with the OLD choreography -> Miyatama in symmetric position!)

MC. Miyata was in charge of leading the MC but he was messing it up. T: “When we’re back to the hotel I will lecture you!” M: “Eeeeeh (laughs)” Ki: “By the way, yesterday night at the hotel…” T (interrupts): “NO NO NO NO NO NO absolutely don’t say that! (frantically)” M: “Yesterday when we got into the hotel room Tama jumped on my bed and made it all messy, and when I was about to make his bed messy in revenge he told me ‘If you do that I won’t ever forgive you’…” T: (relieved) “Ah, you meant that…” (I wonder what happened that Tama didn’t want us to know XD) 

MC. Ki: “Miyata came out of the bathroom into the bedroom stark naked, so I touched his butt and it was wet!” M: “That’s because I hadn’t dried myself properly with the towel! D:” T: (in a small voice, eyeing them with an unimpressed face) “…ew"   

Kis-My-Mint Tour, May 4th 18:00

MC. Fujigaya’s laughing face came up on screen and all the fans kyaaed.  F: "Is it so weird? I laugh all the time!” So the cameramen proceeded to show on the screen a closeup of each member’s smiling face. Last was Miyata who showed a ridiculous weird face instead of a smile and all the members laughed, especially Tamamori and Fujigaya who were actually doubling up with laughter. T: “Miyacchi, do that at the hotel!” M: “Oh, okay! I’ll do that for you before we sleep. You’ll have great dreams thanks to that. I’ll do that from my bed to you when you’re just about to fall asleep.” Ki: “I’ll see that from beyond Tama XD” Y: “Wouldn’t it be good if you did it when Tama gets up, too? Try doing that?” Tamamori closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep. Miyata got close to him. M: (whispering in T’s ear) “Tama, Tama~ wake up ♥” and then changed to the weird face from before. Tamachan laughed lots. Ki: “And what if Tama didn’t wake up?” Again, Tamamori pretended to be asleep and Miyata whispered in his ear to wake him up; apparently Kitayama wanted him to say “Stand up, Joe!” like the coach in Ashita no Joe but Miyata didn’t pick that up. M: “Ah, got it! Let’s do it again!” T: “No, I’ve had enough already!” Tamamori showed his trademark tsun side with this simple answer, even though he had laughed so much for it earlier; but actually a little while later, as other members were talking Tamamori asked a couple times again to Miyata to do that face again, without talking into the microphone, and when Miyata refused, he went “Eeeeh” and sulked.

During someone else’s talk in the MC Tamamori told Miyata, without using his microphone, to go take him some water. As Miyata did it he appeared by accident in the screen where Fujigaya was being shown, then disappeared, then appeared again. F: What the hell are you doing? M: Tama told me to get him some water so I came, but the first bottle I took was empty (laugh) The members laughed at him saying “Are you his butler?” “Sebastian!” (t/n: not a reference to the “Black butler” manga. For some reason, Sebastian is considered THE common butler name in Japan.) “gofer!”, but nonetheless Miyata kept smiling and gave the water to Tama, who didn’t join in the name-calling and just naturally told him “Thank you”, smiling.  

Kis-My-MiNT Tour, May 5th 18:00

MC. During a talk between Kitayama, Nikaido and Senga, somehow Tama ended up next to Miyata. T: “Somehow I thought I had to make the space between the various members more even, and I ended up here…” M: “Did you want to come next to me so bad, Ta~ma?” Tama silently moved away from Miyata. 

During the encore Miyata came out on stage with a camera and immediately pointed it to Tamamori. Tamamori made an “okay, okay” face and shrugged; nonetheless, Miyata kept following him with the camera without giving up.

Kis-My-MiNT Tour, May 6th 18:00

MC. During Tamamori and Fujigaya’s talk, Miyata tried to go between them. F: “There’s this thing between Miyata and Tamamori, right? That’s why Miyata and I don’t have any kind of relationship at all.” M: “Gaya-san and I get along really well when cameras aren’t rolling and we are always chatting, but he’s always denying that in public!” F: “Nah, it doesn’t exist at all.” M: “Well, I’m okay with a love triangle within us…” T: “Well then, let’s make it clear. Who do you like better between me and Gaya?” M: “The one I love… is only Tama”. Tamamori grinned happily. Fujigaya made a face like “First you say love triangle, then you say you only love Tama, idgi”

Miyatama car makes its appearance again! (ftr, this is Miyatama car:

Tamamori was on the hanamichi that leads to the centre stage from the main stage, and Miyata was a little far away. Tamamori made a hand gesture to invite him and Miyata started skating at full speed towards him. They formed the Miyatama car and Tamamori asked a Kanju boy to push them, then Anderson and Takada Sho joined and the car started running. It crashed when they arrived on the main stage though.

During Shake it up’s Kisumai step. Tamamori pointed at Miyata as if to say “you stay there, okay?"  → Miyata gets closer to Tamamori while dancing  → Tamamori pushes him away and orders him again to stay away  → Miyata moves away, then gets closer again… this was repeated about four times apparently XD

Encore. As they were skating on the aisles, Miyata passed behind Tamamori, touched his butt and ran away.

Airing nationwide on Bunka Housou, Kisumai Radio. Tonight I, Tamamori Yuta, am challenging hosting the show alone for the first time.

It’s time for Kisumai Dice, a corner shared by the seven of us. I’ll throw a die with the names of the six members excluding me written on it, and I’ll talk about the member that comes up. The topic can be what I think of that member, love confessions, anything at all. I have no idea who I’ll get, either. Last week Yokoo-san talked passionately about me… so… I want to do my best and talk a lot, too. Well, I think maybe you guys want me to get Miyata… but it really depends on chance, I don’t know who I’ll get.

So I’ll throw the die of fate now! Hop. …it’s Miyata! Are you serious! I got Miyata! For real?! Woah, here it goes… I have to talk a lot! If it’s Miyata, I do. Allright, let’s go, let’s talk about Miyata.

You see, when Miyata and I joined Kis-My-Ft2 we were always in symmetry… Symmetry means it’s the same position on the opposite ends (of the stage). So we must definitely keep the positions, also the timing to move and a lot of other actions are the same, so thanks to that I’ve always gotten along well with Miyata… Yeah, I guess our good relationship started from there. Well, we got yelled at about a number of things, and for some reason Miyata and I often got yelled at and I remember that everytime we would talk together and say “They get angry at us all the time…”… This Miyata is… how do I say it? I guess he maybe is… healing to me? Among all the members. He’s very kind too and laughs a lot, and somehow now he does those fail jokes… I call them fail jokes myself (laugh) hmm… this is part of his character, too, you know, he’s kind of an otaku character now.

But well, you know, I know he really loves anime. A while ago I went to sleep over at Miyata’s and he told me “Let’s watch something!” so I totally thought it was a movie, yup. But then he brings this huge amount of anime videos and he’s all like “Allright, let’s watch.” Actually I didn’t know that much about anime so Miyata-kun kept talking and talking about what was good about them… late at night. Miyata was explaining passionately for me despite being sleepy so I thought I had to listen carefully but nothing of what he said stayed in my head… When he talks about anime or the things he likes his face really shines. Yes.

Recently what have we talked about, Miyata and I. Well, but we often go shopping together. Right, there was an incident recently. When Miyata and I went to visit Osaka we went into a clothes shop I liked, and I was there choosing clothes. And then Miyata said “Okay, I want to buy this cap.” I told him “Buy it, buy it.” So he left it on the cash register and said “I’m going to buy more stuff so please hold it for me.” So I paid first and the shop assistant at the register billed the cap with my stuff, too. He gave me two bags and I was like “What’s this?” and he told me “Oh, it’s the cap”. I said “Ah, it’s not mine!” but as I’d already paid for it I thought “Bah, it’s okay.” And it’d have been bad to tell Miyata “Here you are, give me the money back” so eventually I got it for him, right? There was nothing to do. And so Miyata was all “Ooh! Tama! Thank you!”. He was all “You bought it for me!”. This happened and I told him “Hey it’s not like I expressedly bought that for you, y'know? They just made me buy it by chance.” Nonetheless Miyata looked super happy about it and in magazines and stuff he kept saying “Tama bought a cap for me.” So I thought “I’m not such good friends with you to buy you a cap!” Okay, we ARE good friends, but I wouldn’t buy a cap for a member, seriously. “But you did buy it for me didn’t you!” he goes. I guess now that this story is out the fans will say stuff like “You bought a cap for Miyata-kun?”, “You’re really good friends”, I think they’ll say that a lot… hmmm…

You see, I’m really grateful for Miyata. How do I say it, since the time we were in symmetric positions we’ve always been together and maybe, maybe among the members Miyata’s the one I understand the most, surely. I’m positive. And Miyata, I think he understands me, too, yeah, he knows what I’m like and so he understands what I feels, you know? Like when I fail at something and get depressed, Miyata goes “Ah, this has happened to me too…” Each member is like this but I’ve always been with Miyata, always.

Right… I’m saying too many good things about him and he’ll get carried away, so I should stop here. He’ll listen to this and tsukkomi me saying “Hey, you say nice stuff!”, and I’ll get irritated about it so I’ll stop here.

In all my 8 years in this fandom I’ve never seen people put so much pressure in SHINee (or members) to have a come back. I feel so bad for Taemin for having to calm this fandom bc people have been talking shit about his come back (or lack of). He has been working his ass off non stop since 2008, on the previous live he literally said that since the beginning of his career he hadn’t had this much free time (he even said it’s the longest he hasn’t worn any make up) and now I see people literally saying that 2019 was a waste for his career and sm is wasting 2020 as well. Taemin has said before that his nightmare is to perform on a black ocean/empty crowd and now I see people trying to pressure him into doing that bc they think they have the right????????? Before being an artist Taemin is a human being, he’s not a doll or a robot created to fufill your wishes, there are lots of factors for his comeback being delayed, including him not wanting to perform for nobody. He literally does everything to make this fandom happy while carrying SHINee’s brand by himself while his hyungs are on the army and some people can’t even try to have a little empathy for him? This is a hard time for EVERYONE, the earth is begging for us to slow down and it disgusts me how some people are tying to make him work even harder (as if that was possible).

I remember a few weeks ago on shawol twt, someone had retweeted a video of Jonghyun doing one of his sexier songs, like Moon or Cocktail or smth and commented “jonghyun cock” on it as a joke, and a non-shawol got mad at them bc they felt like that was disrespectful to speak of the dead like that. 

Shawol twt promptly lost their damn MINDS abt it, and prececded to get the man trending by tweeting abt how sexy he and his music was, and the whole thing remains the funniest shit I’ve ever seen in my life bc shawols are funny as fuck and petty as hell when u really get them going.

But what was really fascinating, was the underlying point buried underneath all the crass comments and jjong fancams. Which is Shawols insistence that people stop telling them how they should interact with him and his legacy. 

I’ve made no secret of it on this blog that I hate what I used call “hollywood bullshit” but now simply call “idol bullshit”. The crux of my soap box is this: Hollywood romanticizes celebrities who died young, especially of overdose, accidents, or suicide, so that it doesn’t have to take responsibility for the role the Hollywood system played in their deaths. A few examples would be the 27 club, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and River Phoenix. I’ve been passionate abt this for a long time.

But the thing abt the people I focus on, like River, is that they have been dead for 20+ years. Their legacy is settled, and in some ways there’s nothing more tragic. They are remembered for dying young, because that’s what Hollywood chose to focus on. People remember tragedy. It’s often the only thing people know about them.

So, from an objective standpoint, it has been very interesting to watch that battle over legacy play out in real time. I remember when the news broke about Jonghyun, and how I saw him trending on Tumblr and clicked on it. I read abt how a guy from SHINee had died, and although I was not into kpop, I had a very very good friend who was. I immediately contacted her, because I had remembered her talking at length about SHINee. And I scrolled through the tag. I read articles. I posted on Facebook, even, “another bright young thing dead at  27, when will we learn?”

But even then, Shawols were taking control of the narrative. I remember y’all saying that ppl shouldn’t talk like he kept it all inside and nobody knew. He spoke openly about his mental health, y’all insisted, he was a real advocate for things that mattered. He wasn’t sad all the time. 

And when they did the concert in February. God. The images and gifs of SHINee dressed in white, flanking that microphone, will haunt me until the day I die. That was over a year before I got into SHINee. I got into them, finally, this August.

And what I found here, and what I’ve observed, has really changed the way I interact with celebrities who die young. It made me realize that I, too, was focusing on the wrong things. To y’all, he is still very much with us, and you talk about everything but his death. SHINee really is still five, because you haven’t let him become a tragedy. You talk about the vast diversity of his music, his talents and skills, his words and his love. The way he loved you, the way he loved his members and family, the way he loved Roo. Like all of us, Jonghyun was more than one thing, and Shawols have worked hard to keep him alive in your hearts as the wonderfully complex human being that he was. And every time people try to reduce him to just that one day, you fight for him. You refuse to let people turn him into tragedy porn. You stand up for his legacy and say, No. Here’s who Jonghyun was, and it is more than just that one moment. 

I have never seen or heard of anything like it. It’s beautiful. And it’s what he deserves.
