A recent series of revelations
I realised two things yesterday:
1. Once you talk to someone enough, you find out they have their own story to tell. Nobody’s boring; everyone and their life is interesting somehow, to someone, even you and yours.
2. Crisps are called crisps because they’re crispy.
Really, I tried to think of a boring and uninteresting friend. Couldn’t.

if someone does the “fine, you’re right, i’m clearly a terrible person, i’m satan, i’m the worst person alive, i should just die” thing in response to criticism of their harmful behavior, they are trying to manipulate ppl and flip the situation around so that they look like a victim
stop tolerating this in 2k17 tbh. like really and truly, if you or your friend thinks this is okay pls call the hotline on the bottom of the screen and learn how to take responsibility for your bad behavior

i’m so tired of dreaming about you (please let me sleep tonight)
can you tell i haven’t slept very well since the last time that we spoke? (cc, 2017)
If you're wondering "Is it me?", it's not you.

One of my favourite anecdotes about the first Golden Age of Piracy is that, at one point, Captain Henry Morgan left England in one ship, and arrived in the Caribbean commanding a completely different ship, and nobody knows why. What happened to the first ship and how he acquired the second one are entirely unrecorded.

Happy International Women’s Day!
To celebrate we’ll be sharing, throughout the day, a number of artworks by women in the Ashmolean’s collections.
A ‘Forest Floor’ Still Life of Flowers Oil on canvas by Rachel Ruysch (1664–1750) Bequeathed to the Ashmolean Museum by Daisy Linda Ward in 1939
Rachel Ruysch, according to the artist, was taught by Willem van Aelst. From her studio in Amsterdam, she painted a long succession of flower paintings, several fruit pieces and a number of 'forest floors’ of which this is a relatively early example.
