What’s up everyone! Some updates on the progress of my web series. I know that I previously said that I would release the trailer for my web series, but I had run into big issues. The color reproduction, upon exporting my video came out different. I guess that’s just part of the process and a learning curve to working with LOG. The good news is that after some troubleshooting, I have resolved the issue. The trailer to my web series is up, go check it out!
Next up is the rest of the official episodes in the series, stay tuned!

I am set to post the first episode to my project to my YouTube channel tomorrow! One of the most difficult parts to this project was color grading. For this project I decided to shoot in log, or logarithmic profile. Choosing to shoot in log was a tough call, one because shooting in this picture profile is tricky and so is editing it in post. The benefits to shooting in log is that you get better dynamic range and a wider range of better versatility in post. I have had little experience in the past with it, but decided to try it because it is an industry standard. In this post I included a cool before and after from the first episode. The left hand side is in default log, while the right is with color grading.

Hey guys,
So here are some updates on my practicum and what I am doing! Part of my position as marketing and media on the board is to help to maintain an online media presence on the YMCA’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. Also to create flyers & posters for all upcoming events in advance. Below is one of the posters I’ve created! I’ve been also working on some big video projects for the Y, I am constantly working closely with the VP of Marketing and Mission advancement and the Creative and Digital Marketing Manager! I was tasked with creating a video showing casing the YMCA’s college camp program. I am really happy as my video will be shown at an important event where a lot of important people will see it. I was recently asked to make a few minor adjustments to it.

Update:
Hey everyone, yesterday I hit a big milestone! Yesterday I finished interviewing and filming for my third and last organization, Family Programs Hawaii. It was pretty insightful and eye opening to learn what they are all about, and even better experience hearing it from the CEO himself! Family Programs Hawaii is a nonprofit organization that specializes in looking to serving families and children of Hawaii.

Status update #3
Hey everyone,
So far in terms of where I am in my work back plan I am in a very good position! I have completed most of the mile stones that I set for myself and checked off a lot of boxes. Last time in my previous status update I said that I had a slight hiccup in my project, and that was finding another organization to feature in my web series. Fortunately I found not one, but two others who were willing to work with me, Family Programs Hawaii, and The Pantry. I have already scheduled and confirmed a date with Family Programs, and am now in the process of finding a suitable date for The Pantry.
Today was a big mile stone for me because I conducted my first interview with the CEO of YMCA of Honolulu which went pretty smooth except for some problems with my LAV mic.
As far as what I have planned for the next two weeks I plan on working on editing my first episode with the footage from today. I will also be completing the interview with Family Programs.

I forgot to post this for Thursdays meeting 9/22 and yesterday’s meeting 9/26. But essentially we have been planning for a Fall Leadership Service Weekend at Camp Erdman. I was in charge of designing a poster for the event and a newsletter blast! I was pretty happy to see my design printed out, thought it was pretty cool! Now I will be in charge of putting together a video highlight for the event.
As for my web series I have begun scheduling interviews and will start next week by interviewing the YMCA’s CEO!

Currently sifting through footage from Thursday, then it will be onto editing the footage. It’s a lot, but pretty straightforward.

Today was just filming at the Blaisdell Center, along with coordinating with the Creative and Digital marketing manager for the Y. Ran into some problems with capturing audio with my digital audio recorder, just goes to show I have a lot more to learn.

Tomorrow I am filming/ covering a conference for the YMCA’s staff training at the Blaisdell Center. After that I am am tasked with editing a video and having it available for staff who could not attend the conference! I am packing all the equipment I think I’ll need, I think I have everything. I am nervous as well as excited, because I know I will be running all over the place.

Status update #2
Hey everyone, where am I in my project now? So far I would have to say that I am still doing alright in terms of staying ahead of my schedule, although I have had a hiccup in the road which now requires me to pivot my strategy. I have lucked out on my second intership, for Make A Wish Hawaii as I haven’t heard word from them, so now I need to look elsewhere. On the other hand I have begun my sketches on my storyboard and it is still in progress.
This week was my second weekly meeting at the YMCA of Honolulu. It was a loton information and also facinating. It was dedicated to calander planning, planning programs and events for the next few months and beyond, organizing things like conservation events, foodbank events, and college camp reunions for returning students. I was able to learn about the work that goes into it and be a part of the discussion and adding input. We also discuessed logistics and properly utilizing budget and funding. Along with this I was able to plan and coordinate assignments and projects for me to do as well! It was a lot to take in but it is something I genuienly enjoy so I am pretty excited to be getting to do this.

Status update #1
Hello everyone, As of right now I think that I am ahead of schedule. I have all of the gear & equipment that I need for my web-series! I also have all of the interview questions that I want to ask locked in. I just need to complete my shot list and story boards so that I can begin the filming process. In terms for my practicum portion, I have already started for the YMCA of Honolulu, but I am waiting to find and get an okay for a  second organization to work with. That might be the only bump in the road for now!
In terms of where Im headed? The first thing on my list this week is focusing on getting a second internship so that I can plan my filming dates accordingly. That would be my biggest hurdle right now.
My first week experience with my internship at the YMCA of Honolulu was amazing, as part of the student board at the YMCA I have a say in the direction of one of the branches, specifically (Atherton) which specializes with high school and college students. Learning about the different programs and ideas, as well as being part of the conversation to further help college students was fascinating!
