I start college in about two months. As someone who's completed it, how do I survive and stay at least somewhat sane for the four years?

going on the assumption you’re going to stay in a dorm on or near campus, and going off of my experience at a small school during covid:

- have a hobby you enjoy and can do on your own in your room in your free time

- make sure you spend time outside. take advantage of the weather when it’s nice. go on walks sometimes

- making friends on campus and doing things with them is great, but if you don’t click with anyone or find your friendships not lasting that’s okay. in that case, talk to your online friends a lot so you don’t go insane. if you can, I highly recommend voice/video calls so you’re physically talking

- don’t be afraid to email your professors or go to their office hours if you need help with anything

-don’t make a habit of skipping class, even if attendance isn’t graded and lectures are online, that creates a really bad habit that’s hard to break. only skip class if you really need to (such as illness)

- a minor thing, but you’ll most likely get sick at least once a semester. MAKE SURE YOU BRING MEDICINE WITH YOU. you’ll thank yourself later when you have things to make yourself feel better and don’t have to drag your sick little ass over to a walgreens to buy overpriced medicine. also bring bandaids and a thermometer. trust me

- go to any events or clubs on campus that interest you! it’s a great way to meet people and find things to do with your spare time

- an obvious one, but do your best to stay on top of your classwork and get enough sleep. you’ll feel better.

-also, do your best to eat properly

I keep seeing people say characters have to be trans or nonbinary because they don’t fit this very narrow box of gender stereotypes. god forbid a girl has short hair or tucks her shirt into her pants or isn’t into “girly” things like unicorns and princesses, or god forbid a boy likes the color pink or paints his nails or likes my little pony

we see luz call herself a bad boy ONCE when she was 14 which, by the way, was clearly done as a joke in the moment and is never ever done again. we then never again see her refer to herself or anyone else refer to herself with any masculine or male terms. it’s always girl, she, her, crab maiden, grom queen, girlfriend, etc

if you want to hc her as nonbinary, whatever. but you cannot point at her and go “luz is nonbinary because she doesn’t present like a girly girl” because gender is a social construct, not a fucking singular way of dressing. luz’s entire personality as well, in my opinion, is much more on the feminine side than he masculine side
