Headcanon: post-reconciliation Dan Heng and Blade acting overly casual about the time they spent chasing/being chased by the other across the universe because neither of them want to face the fact that they spent so long trying to kill each other. They have a mission on some random space station and one of them says “hey we’ve been here before haven’t we?” Followed by a silence that lasts just a little too long and then neither of them bring it up again. They’re sparring and Blade recognises a move Dan Heng used to kill him once and all he can think to do is compliment it because he doesn’t know how to say what he’s actually thinking.

(Eventually Himeko gets fed up enough with Dan Heng casually and yet clearly guiltily admitting to murder every time she asks him about Blade, that she finds a way to force them to talk it out.)

Yanqing is a strong fighter! He held his own against all of the enemies he fought against, despite losing, as well as beating fighters from all across the galaxy in the tournament. He just also goes and challenges the equivalent of chinese jesus and his gang of fucked up friends.

one of the most heartbreaking parts of Dan Heng’s character, I think, is that he struggles with his identity because he can’t reconcile what he considers himself to be with what he considers Dan Feng to be, while also knowing subconsciously that due to the nature of the High Elder succession they are the same person-

and yet, ironically, this struggle to embrace his humanity despite being taught that’s not what he is, originates from Dan Feng in the first place. Because Dan Heng’s insistence that he is not the monster he believed Dan Feng to be is so similar to Dan Feng’s own realisation that he couldn’t fit his human self into the concept of Imbibitor Lunae.

Dan Feng was punished for the outcome of realising who he was, and what he’d been denied, and that punishment turned his hatred of circumstance into hatred of himself.

Dan Heng has a scar where Blade stabbed him during their fight at Dragonprayer terrace where he had his magical girl transformation. It's hard to see, even as Imbibitor Lunae since his clothes cover it the area.

Based on the cutscenes ss I took, I assumed it was close to his shoulders but another angle makes it look like it hit his chest. Looks somewhere fatal like his lung which explains why he was forced to transform to preserve his own life. It does look like the scar can be on his pectoral so I will go with that. :p

I'm pretty much at the stage of "I enjoy HSR for the potential of the characters, not what the game itself does with the characters after establishing them" but.

This is the kind of weather that has me thinking of the Express crew leaving a small pool of water out for Dan Heng to just flop into in the most un-majestic and unceremonious way possible. No matter if he's in human or Vidhyadara form.

Just sploosh that dragon. Absolutely dunk him. spray him with water. Keep him moisturised.

Dan Heng's element is water so in a heatwave I can see him just getting real lethargic and reacting worse than any of the others there, because unless they spray him every so often, he's just gonna. evaporate or something.

I often think about how in China they used to cut criminals’ hair to brand them and Dan Heng cut his own hair. You could argue it was out of convenience or to significantly alter his appearance but Hoyo is known to love their double meanings

it’s so sad because you’d think his insistence that he was Not Dan Feng would at least let him see himself as a better person but he continued to believe that he was dangerous and undeserving of love on top of the denial

If Dan Heng and Stelle don't develop a form of co-dependency relationship after Amphoreus I would be genuinely surprised.

They were and actively are being traumatised by what is happening and considering Dan Heng thought he was just insane and imagined Stelle dying but his insanity turned out to be truth and now Stelle's fate is intertwined with the Amphoreus cycle and she might turn into a titan when the Era Nova begins. These two need a serious break after Amphoreus. I will personally put locks on their rooms in the Express so they won't go out next planet!!

Thinking about Dan Heng who sees someone else when he looks in the mirror. who dislikes using his magic because he's not sure if it's really his. Who's terrified of slipping into something that he's not but that's all he'll ever be. a shadow of someone else.

Dan Heng who wonders if theres still that sliver of cruelty beneath the 'mirror-like emerald calmness.'
