Week 11
I can't believe im already going into my 12th week. Times has really flown by. Week 12 i did another practice skin tattoo and i have really really improved my line work.
While i was doing the practice skin i ran imto the problem of having my needle stick after i switched to a 9rl and i was told i had my needle too far out, which made a lot of sense after the fact. I'll share a picture of the skin and any drawings if any that i did.( i dont completely remember 😬)

Week 10
Week ten was much more eventful, i got a lot more drawings done (but didnt get pictures of them so youll see them tomorrow the latest) one of my friends from my paying job gave me some prismacolor color erase pencils so I had used them all week and youll see i started with the blue as the base sketch and the red to refine it and add details, occasionally using my black pen to outline when i saw necessary.
This week i did a little work on some practice "skin" it was just one little rose woth some other work around it trying to get used to the vibrations of my machine. My practice has really helped with my linework, it was much easier to keep my lines fluid but still could always use some work. So week 11 probably doing more practice skin and drawings to help with my linework.

Week 8 and 9
I unfortunately forgot/put off posting for week 8 for two reasons. 1) it was very uneventful progress wise 2) we were all busy with other junk.
Greg has been working om changing up/remodling the shop since he bought in in February and he has decided to break down some walls in the back as a chill/draw area and most of last week was cleaning, rearranging, demolition and cleaning again.
Besides all that i had done all my normal duties and a few drawings. My main issue has been my line quality, i have trouble keeping my lines neet and consistant and i have found my technique is to blame. When drawing i tend to only move my wrist and barely move the rest of my arm so it comes out stiff and i dont get much movement. So i have been trying long flowing lines. Tracing then and moving my whole are so that i move smoothly and at a decent pace.
This really has helped me a lot, but practice practice practice is still needed.
This week i should be moving on to doing some small stencils and transfering them onto that fake skin stuff and eventually tattooing it. Im excited to see what i can do, but i have heard its not 100% like skin.
Anyways 😇 that should be week 8 and 9 in a nutshell. Ill be posting pictures of those drawings soon!

Week 7
A pretty eventful week, i did some tattoos on some grapefruit (not terribly good quality) im figuring things out slowly amd my mentor has given me lots of helpful tips to keep in mind.
At the shop my mentor hired a new artist who unfortunately fell sick soon after getting hired so didnt get to meet him very well.
Also my mentor, should probably refer to him as Greg so im not saying my mentor 100000 times 😬, had a very eventful end of the week. A band that was playing a show on Friday night came in thursday and all got tattoos (and threw a little party)

About a month late but oh well
I have decided that I will be bringing this back but to show my adventures as an apprentice. I started my apprenticeship about a month ago. As a recap the first month was me learning about the ins and outs of the business, setting up appointments, setting up a station to avoid cross contamination, keeping customers happy, and watching the artists' techniques. So far it has seemed kindof just like work but it has payed of immensly, i have learned a lot and it has helped me explore and expand my art finding what I really enjoy doing and what I need to practice more. Month one down plenty more to go. I will be posting pictures of my art progress and any little doodles or squiggles i find interesting or worth a share. -thank you much!
