Todos los estados existen y son parte fija de la creación. Cualquier persona puede entrar en un estado conscientemente o caer en un estado sin darse cuenta. Puedes ocupar diferentes estados a lo largo de tu vida o puedes ocupar un único estado. El deseo es lo que normalmente nos motiva a trasladarnos de un estado a un nivel superior. Puesto que un estado es total y completo en sí mismo, cuando entramos en uno, nos vemos obligados a comportarnos de la manera dictada por ese estado. Por ejemplo: en el estado de pobreza nos encontraríamos constantemente necesitados de fondos (dinero). Tendríamos dificultades para llegara fin de mes y no habría modo de disfrutar de lujos. En el caso de que se nos diera una gran suma de dinero, si permanecemos en el estado de pobreza (llenando nuestra mente con pensamientos de carencia y limitación), pronto nos encontraríamos sin fondos y experimentando las mismas dificultades de nuevo. Lo contrario sería cierto si ocupamos un estado de riqueza. Cuando estamos en un estado, solo vemos el contenido de ese estado y nos vemos obligados a actuar de acuerdo con todo lo que conlleva ese estado. Mientras estás ocupando un estado en particular, crees que ciertas cosas son verdaderas y encontrarías difícil entender otro punto de vista. En el estado de pobreza es fácil enfocar tus pensamientos en los problemas de suministros de alimentos, refugio y ropa. Cuando tienes éxito de salir de ese estado, ya no tienes dificultades para adquirir estas cosas. La mayoría de la gente atribuye este cambio de fortuna a un cambio en las circunstancias. Sin embargo, a menos que  te hayas movido del estado de pobreza ningún cambio en las circunstancias sería permanente. Por el contrario, salir de un estado y entrar en otro en tu imaginación crea automáticamente un cambio en tu mundo exterior.
