A Mother's Cry for Peace: Sahar's Escape from Gaza's Turmoil

Hello everyone,

Today, I want to share with you a story that is very personal to me, a story of resilience, hope, and the desperate need for change.

My name is Sahar, and I live in Gaza. I'm here to share with you the harsh reality of life in Gaza and the urgent need for my family to leave this war-torn land for a safer place.

Imagine living in a place where every day feels like a battle for survival. That's the reality for me, my husband, and our 4-year-old daughter. The war has taken everything from us - our home, our jobs, our sense of security. Now, we're left with nothing but uncertainty and fear.

We've endured multiple displacements within Gaza, each time narrowly escaping death. One particularly harrowing experience was being trapped for hours in a relative's building during relentless airstrikes. It's a miracle we survived, but the trauma of that day still haunts us.

My daughter, too young to understand the horrors of war, is plagued by nightmares and struggles to sleep at night. It breaks my heart to see her innocence shattered by the violence that surrounds us.

But amidst the despair, there is hope. With your support, we can leave Gaza and start anew. Your donations can help us secure passage to a safer place where we can rebuild our lives and give our daughter the future she deserves.

All the reports coming from Rafah from the early hours of April 29 are literally identical: "Israel targeted the house of [family name]"

The same title, over and over again.

All within a couple of hours last night, three family homes in Rafah have been struck, killing at least 20, the majority of whom are women and children.

We now know about Project Lavender and we know about Israel's constant surveillance of Gaza so when I tell you that Israel had targeted civilian homes last night in Rafah, you know that there is absolutely no room for questioning Israel's intent here and always.

I think oh OK it must be folded around the gift card, right? Wrong. It is a folded sheet of 8×11 printer paper with "$40" written on the inside in ballpoint pen. I go what is this. She says a gift card. I say this is not a gift card. She says yes it is. I say this is a piece of paper with "$40" written on it. She says "well it's a gift card." I say it absolutely is not. People justify centering Aaron Bushnell’s death in any way they can as if one of—if not the main—reason that this genocide has gone on for too long boils down to the west seeing Arab lives as inherently lesser than that of white lives.
