Does anyone get super jealous when their favorite band goes viral? Like, I’d been listening to Mother Mother for 5 years, and all of a sudden they blew up on tiktok like a month or two ago. It’s not because I don’t want them to succeed, it’s more cuz I built a strong connection with that band’s music and all of a sudden the connection seems less personal when everyone starts listening to that band. Idk, just a thought

-angry, rejecting society

-a little rocky, set the foundation for future albums.

O My Heart (2008)

-more like O My Mental Illness

-the three D’s: dejection, dissociation, dysphoria (and another D if you kno what I mean,) coupled with some paranoia and anger issues

-undeniably queer (see: Hay Loft)

-lots of feelings. like a lot. goes through the stages of grief, not in a particular order.

Eureka (2011)

-transitional, exiting a long depression

-nostalgic, slow healing, coming out of a shell

-still here, still queer (see: Calm Me Down, The Stand)

-fun, catchy, ready to move on and face the world.

The Sticks (2012)

-says a lot of things that need to be said but the courage was never there

-realization of having been sheltered, the hardships of the world setting into bones (somewhat maintaining optimism!)

-straight? no way. very queer (see: Let’s Fall In Love, Happy, Cesspool of Love)

-many steps forward, but perhaps the steps backwards equal it out. it’s all progress in the end.

Very Good Bad Thing (2014)

-(happy?) existential dread

-it’s too late the back away now

-the queerness is getting too strong (see: the whole fucking album.) the abbreviation of the album title is literally one letter away from LGBT.

-am I God of Death? a corporeal void? I know I exist because I hate myself.

-quality over quantity.

No Culture (2017)

-embracing of differences, seen and slept with most of the world.

-is just over it

-trying to settle down with those who are most important. has encountered great loss.

-hear hear, it’s queer! (see: Free, Mouth of the Devil)

-spooky, fresh, perfect.
