Great job with the commentary! I often think about the trial when it comes to Demon Slayer because, honestly, the trial may be one of my least favorite segments.

If you don't mind me adding my two cents, I don't even see what was the point of gatheirng all the hashiras for the trial... What that even meant to be a trial?

All they do is be there when Tanjiro wakes up, talk about how he and his sister should die before Tanjiro gets to say anything (What happened to "Hello! How is your chin doing?"), let Sanemi mess around with the box containg Nezuko, act all disciplined and respectfull when Kagaya shows up before returning to their grivances, Sanemi tests Nezuko after taunting her (you may disagree with me, but that's one part of the trial where I actually found a good action in hindsight) and then Kagaya is pretty much like "Lovely! She succeed Shinazugawa's test. But that's just a bonus. I was planing to let them off the hook anyway thanks to Urokodaki recomendation letter. In conclusion, she is all right and you all suck. You are free to go back to work.".

Just like that. No futher discussion. No disecting of the points brougth in favour and against Nezuko and Tanjiro and how much of a risk they actually resonably can be taken as. No analysing the situation and how the Corps can make sure to minmize then chances of things going south. Not even one hashira seeming to even be qualified or interested to be jury in a trial. Nothing. Just yelling and acting cruel towards kid who just woke up, continuing to act umprofesional and then just going home.

I think if would have been a lot better if it went like that (I will try to be as compact as it's posible for me... which can is still be long):

× Just like in the original, Tanjiro wakes up bound on the ground surounded by these hostile people who seem like they don't care about his sob story or weightless defences about Nezuko.

× They let Tanjiro say his piece and they keep rebuking him (mostly rudely), but Tanjiro still gets to present his case while also doing his best not to lose his temper and while Nezuko is at risk of getting agitated.

× Kagaya says that he would like to actually spare them and pulls out the letter as to cement his point... and the cherry gets put on top. Otherwise said, Sanemi does his cruel bit and the tempts her with his special blood... and just like in the anime, she refuses, which means that she pases.

Sanemi: *blinking in bewilderment for a momemt before looking at his comarads and then back at Nezuko* Huh... Well, it seems Tomioka isn't completely an idiot.

Mitsuri: *claps excitedly*

Gyomei: The childern did good. Congrats!

Shinobu: They surely did!

Obanai: Whatever...

Tanjiro: WHAT?!

× They come clean about putting them throught a test to see if they trully are worth trusting and if Nezuko has the will in fact to control her demon urges. Because while there are three people vouching for Nezuko, one is her brother who can lie to protect her, one barely knows them and only agreed to spare them based on a hunch and the third had Nezuko asleep for most of the time she was around him and then put some flimsy hipnosis on her (which we are shown can fail if her demon side gains to much power over her brain).

× They apologize to Tanjiro and put him in a more comfortable position so the real discusion can start. Now they already got some response and perspective on the situation from Tanjiro pleading his case earlier, but they still find it imperative to discuss with him how the Nezuko stiatuation should be managed (while Urokodaki can't properly vouch for Nezuko, the fact that Tanjiro was so dedicated to becoming a slayer for the past two years aleviates the worry of him being a spy).

× And the concerns brought up and discused can be a mundane as "What can we feed her as a substitute for human flesh if she gets hungry?" to actually scary posibilities like "We can choose to believe Muzan has no power over the gir. But what if Muzan not having control over Nezuko is just a temporary fluke and he can actually turn her into one of his henchmen?".

× Mostly, the rest of the trial is them brainstoroming what they can do to strenchen Nezuko's mind, any traing she could be offered so she can test her abilities in a safe enviroment, Shinobu may be interested in studing her, what are they to do if Nezuko loses herself, if Tanjiro die during duty (very probably) what should be done about Nezuko (who would be hard to comfort and would most probably go for all stages of grief on steroids), who should they asign to monitor the siblings (they could benefit from having a much experienced slayer as their mentor and companion on every missions), etc.

Anyway. I hope I didn't bore you with my opinions.

My unwanted thoughts on the tanjiro and nezuko's trial

Tanjiro and nezuko's trial is something I have alot of thoughts about,and none of them are good.

I feel like people never talk about how horribly _unfair_ and downright _cruel_ this trial was.

because anytime this trial is mentioned,it is **always** about sanemi stabbing nezuko and _nothing_ else.

it is always sanemi stabbing nezuko. Not the fact that all of them were ready to execute both nezuko and tanjiro,who is one of their juniors and a _child_ without giving either of them a chance. Not the fact that these are 7 adults and not an **ounce** of sympathy for tanjiro's situation. Not the fact that they were talking about killing him and his sister INFRONT of him like they were talking about the damn weather. Not that rengoku said they should just kill them immediately with a smile on his face. Not that tengen asked to do the **honours** and he would give them a "flashy" death.(Love them both,but WHY is that never mentioned?left a bad taste in my mouth the entire MUGEN train arc and entertainment district arc). Not the fact that they were completely and utterly disregarding the master's orders by doing so(as if it shouldn't have been crystal clear that he,at the very least, wanted to hear them out. That there was a chance they were innocent). Not the fact that gyoumei straight up Said tanjiro shouldn't have been born?? Hello??

Sanemi definitely holds the most blame here but the rest of them certainly aren't innocent.

The only ones that get a pass are giyuu(because he was on their side and frankly went above and beyond to protect the kamados) and muichiro(because he's a child)

**And worse,in my opinion**...

It is never brought up again,not in any negative capacity, around anyone except sanemi.

There is not a _single_ apology from anyone. I waited the entire series for **one** to apologize. To even just bring it up,but it never happens. The story just forgets about the trial,even though there was ample opportunity for an apology to be made.

Muichiro, because of his switch up would have been inclined to apologize. Mitsuri, because she warmed up to nezuko very quickly and was one of the only people to suggest waiting for the master. Gyoumei,as the eldest and unofficial leader of the hashira. Shinobu, because she welcomed the kamados and grew to really like them. Hell even _giyuu_ ,even though he did nothing wrong in my opinion, could have brought it up as an apology for "not doing more".

It is never acknowledged that they did anything wrong. That the trial wasn't an extremely fucked up thing to do.

It is extremely weird to me, because kimetsu no yaiba,as a story, focuses so heavily on the theme of **accountability**,of taking responsibility for your actions. How even if you have had something horrible happen to you,that is not an excuse to hurt someone else .

How _understanding_ a character's motivation≠ _justifying_ their actions.

We see in every demon's backstory. How most of them were treated horribly,how some didn't ask to become demons,how regardless of how horrible their past is...they still die and go to hell to atone for their sins.

Because they have to take responsibility for all the people they have killed.

It was a missed opportunity in my opinion not to apply that to the humans too.

Are the hashira's reactions understandable? extremely. Are they justifiable?HELL NO.

What's even more disappointing is that it doesn't seem to have any effect on tanjiro.

I mean,he was 15 and didn't even know about the hashira,but is suddenly thrown into fake smiles,passive aggressiveness,and straight up death threats from his "allies".

You cannot tell me that wouldn't have an effect. That it wouldn't shatter tanjiro's trust in the corps.

Give me tanjiro not wanting to be in the butterfly mansion because he doesn't want to be around people who wanted to kill his sister without a second thought.

Give me tanjiro having nightmares in which they _do_ kill her.

Give me tanjiro feeling safer and more at ease around Tamayo and yuishiro(literal demons)than he does around his human "comrades"because at least they have never tried to _kill either of them_ . Because yuishiro's animosity isn't directed at him having a demon sister and is something almost normal.

Give me tanjiro keeping himself between tengen and nezuko's box at all times. Just in case(even though he is aware that uzui at the very least respects the master not to do against his order)

Whoever you are, if you somehow happened to sumble over this DON'T READ IT! It's not done. I initially meant it as an ask for a roleplay account but ended up deciding to make it into a proper one shot. The problem is that I just wanted to edit it during lunch break at work today and when I decided to actually let it for later I supppse I pressed "Post" accidentally. And now I have no idea how to put it back into drafts and I am scared that if I try I may get it erased instead. Gah! May you have a nice time of day!

A strange visitor

Sanemi is sitting next to the fire drinking green tea and enjoying the peace, sheltered from the increasingly cold weather outside. Once he would have spent a time like this out there, probably in a forest or climbing a mountain or traveling throught villages and cities in search for some damned monstrosity. Not anymore. Now there are no monsters for him to dice. No civilans mysteriously disapearing. No blood staining everything around him. No place where he really needs to be. No bad news about a comarade dying tragically or so pathetically to the point Sanemi wondered why those people were even allowed to become slayers and sent on such deadly missions. Regarding that one, while a very caring and wise leader, maybe Ubuyashiki wasn't the best when it came to delegating missions. But he will let the man rest. It's been years since his master died. There is no point for Sanemi to dwell over the negative aspects of the past or criticize anyone who is long incinerated or burried... except for Kyogo... may he burn in the deepest pits of Hell away from his mom.

"Tsk! I still can't believe she is stuck with with him and I couldn't do shit about it. When I finally die, I am so going t...."

   The blood in his veins starts boiling even hotter when he hears a knock at the door. Just trying to imagine who it might be already causes him a headache. He asked (threatened in the case of certain individulas) everyone to not visit him, try to bring or send him gifts or bother him in any way today. And yet would you look at that! And the knocking continues. It doesn't really sound like any of his... friends... whatever. The knocks are repetitive and the person seems to hit his door hard but without applying much strench. The person also hasn't said anything yet, which clues him that it can't be Kamado and his friends, the boar boy wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut. It couldn't be Tengen either. By this time he would have started shouting for Sanemi to open the door if it was him. His master's kids wouldn't come without announcing in advance. That leaves him with only one person.

    Sanemi opens the door forcefully ready to snarl in Tomioka's face but he ends up glaring at the trees surounding his house and some fur at the bottom of his perimeter of vision. His eyes go lower, but instead of looking at his actual visitor he stares at the baby straped to the person's back. The baby stares back with his buggy eyes adorned by long thick eyelashes in wonder before crinckling them as he let's out a joyfull squeal out of his tootheless mouth. Another quieter giggle attracts his attention to the boy's twin who is straped to the front of his visitor. This baby has one hand outstretched towards Sanemi as if to grab him while having his other hand shoved in his mouth.

    All the anger in his body is curently gone and replaced by a bittersweet feeling of nostalgia and longing towards a certin old memory. He almost reaches to take the baby's hand when his visitor seemingly gets tired of waiting for him to aknowledge her being there too.

???: Could you at least say something instead of just staring like a fish? This is no weather to keep a mother and her two sons standing in the cold.

    Sanemi looks down at the short woman who peers up at him from behind her fogged glasses with an annoyance that she punctuates by repetately tapping her foot on his toes.

???: Though I wouldn't expect you to let us in anyway. So for the sake of my boys I will get straight to the subject. Seeing as today is your birthday, somone thought of sending you a gift... and here things are going to start sounding like I am making up stuff, but just trust me. This someone who has sent me... well, she actually sent my husband, but I took the bags from her and offered to go instead of him for... complicated reasons... anyway... She is beyond our realm of existence and I myself am from a different dimension which also takes place in the future. And the reason I am giving you this insane explanation is because in these bags I have albums with all the photos mama Shizu from where I am from has taken ever since you were all kids. Acording to her, even though you were poor and there would have been better things to spend money on, she decided that she wants to imortalize all of her kids as they grow up... because she loved you all and wanted a way to keep her memories of you alive in memory. And now someone though that you from here would like to have a look into a world where all your siblings are alive, grown and happy... and also have some baby pictures of them, considering that in this world and time you didn't have any way of retaing those moments. Oh! And in regards to the waste of air whose nane may be never speak of, his face was replaced by a cute pitbull's in all of the pictures he apears in... In any case, I better wrap this up and leave before my babies catch a cold... Gen always worried himself too much any time the kids get sick... I hope you will enjoy and gift and have a happy birthday.

     The woman places the heavy bags at Sanemi's feet before returning her eyes back on him hoping that he would take the bags.

My mom almost named me Sanda after the nurse who took care of her once she was done pushing me into the world and already starting to compare me to my cousin. Aparently, the lady was so nice and caring to my mom that she became fond enought of her to consider giving me her name. However, it got overruled and I got named after my dad for my first name (she already picked the middle name, so my dad had the right to pick the other name).

My name is Sanda though in my vaccination record book (I stumbled upon it while cleaning and that's how I found out).

As per usual, thank you for the tag! And as per usual, I am yapping.

As I said once in the past, while my username looks like it could be my real name, it's not.

Starting with middleschool I started being more shy while also rediscovering some of my old interests and discoveirng some new ones. And it's not like I make a huge secret about them as they are not big deal, but as I said, I spent the last few years feeling scared of embarassing myself or being judged by those close to me. I also come from a christian family and have some pretty religious relatives and honestly, while they love me, I sleep better at night if they don't actually know some of my stances or interests. This made me feel lonely in a sense and I got the idea in highschool to try making up an internet persona (though Anca Mierache only got born in university) so I could try acting more sociable without feeling constricted by my own skin (it might have backfired, seeing how I tend to write long answers and comments).

I also had an interest in writting at some point, but my first attempt was cringe in retrospective. Not necessarily bad though. I would say it was an ok starting point and I enjoyed myself for a while, but I sure still have a laugh at myself about it when I remeber.😅 And because of that I, again, feel more confident posting my thoughts and my attempts at stories under a pseudoname.

And that's why I ended up comming up with Anca Claudia Mierache.

Anca comes from my middlename (Bianca). And when thinking of a firstname I told myself I would like a nice name but then I thought about how I only know two women with the name Anca. And because it's a simple name that derives from my actual name I choose to use it.

Claudia only became an addition two months ago after a certain awkward situation I plan to write about on here. The origin behind my choice is a character I came up with in highschool when thinking of my future once I go to university and once I would become an adult. Her and her friends have been among my list of comfort characters for years.

And finally, about my aparent surrname. I made it up.🤷‍♀️ According to Google, it is a real name, but when deciding on a surrname for my internet persona instead of choosing a name actually used in Romania or that I knew from anywhere I created one myself. The "Mier" comes from the word "miere" (honey) (Reason for choosing honey? I like sweet stuff and my neightboors had bees ever since I could remeber). The "ache" termination, just like escu, is simply a typical termination for a romanian name (e.g.: Stavrache, Enache, Adamache etc.). I could have gone with something ending in escu but it felt more basic than I was in the mood for on account of being the default option for making a name sound romanian (Mihai Eminovici could tell anyone that much.).

I really had to rake my brain for this. I don't really see myself in characters often. But anyway.

Internally and externally I am pretty much the same person depending on the situation.

For the control panel in my brain, I nominate:

Lithuania (Hetalia)

This paragraph describes me pretty acuratelly. Though I have way more humour than Tolys.

Megan Hunter (The moving finger)

I was gifted the book at my middleschool graduation ceremony and my almost 15 year old self pretty much related with this awkward curious woman who just wanted to mind her life without others being too judgemental of her. I grew up from then, but I am still like that often.

Genya Shinazugawa (Kimetsu Academy AU version)

We are both chill untill we aren't (although, I am still just fumming at worst if I get pissed off). I was also an ok to very good student up to finishing university and in that sense I worked hard for both my future, so I could have a good job that would help me build my adult life and so I could start helping my family, and to make my family pround.

But unfortunetly I had to deal with this feeling too. (My poor, child. Don't think like that. That's the Devil and the made up Sanemi in your head speaking.)

I would have also acted the same about those watermelons. Food is precious. Sesonal food even more so. Regardless, wasting good food is sinfull.

Mitsuri Kanroji (Demon Slayer/Kimetsu Academy)

Unfortunetly, I am a picky eater and also didn't have the oportunity to try most of these things, but whatever.

Guacamole: I never tried it. I looked up the recipe though and I think it worth a shot. Most of the incredients seem ok (or at least tolerable. Depends how I manage to mix them). And if I don't like it I can leave it to my brother. The guy's taste buds are more lenient than mine.

Olives: I tolerate them at best. I try to avoid them if I can.

Mango: I like the tea. It has a pleasant aroma. I didn't have the oportunity to try a real mango yet.

Hummus: Never had it.

Tomatoes: Love them. They go great with a lot of foods. I like that they can be sweet and sour (I am not sure if this is the right word. What am staying is that they sometimes create some sort of stinging feeling in my mouth but not in a bad way) at the same time.

Cannolis: Another thing I never tried but based on the pictures they look like something I would take a tray of.
