sometimes im having a shit day then i remember that i get to go home and pray to my altars freely and how lucky i am to have that privilege in a country where few do. i remember that im in a religion where divine beings actually care me and i get to enjoy their blessings. i remember that even though im flawed, i am loved by the gods. that always makes my day a bit better.

Hello friends! It's been a minute since I've posted, so here is a little digital collage I made of Lord Apollo and Lady Aphrodite, as well as some updates on where I'm at in my Helpol journey.

While I am still very much devoted to Lord Apollo, he has sort of "passed the torch", so to speak, to Lady Aphrodite. My first few months of devoting myself to Lord Apollo were spent struggling a lot with my physical health, and as a result, struggling a lot with my mental health. Many of my prayers to him were asking for help with my physical health so that I could generally feel not awful. Prior to this work with Apollo, I was miserable, and while things are not perfect, I have since acquired a diagnosis and medication for my chronic illness, as well as a much stronger mobility aid that allows me to participate in social events a lot more often with a lot less pain. I am so grateful to Lord Apollo for answering my prayers, and while meditating the other day, I felt as though he was saying "Now that your physical health is manageable, it's time to focus on your piss poor self-esteem. You need more self-love, dude."

Enter: Lady Aphrodite. I've been asking her not only for love for myself, but to help me to be more tender and gentle. I struggle a lot with irritability as a result of anxiety, and while those around me often reassure me that I am not, well, a total asshole, I miss being soft. I miss when I wasn't cranky all the time, and while I know this is rooted in my anxiety, I ultimately feel that the opposite of irritability is love and tenderness, so Lady Aphrodite is helping me with that right now.

Friends, several people in my life, including myself, have had a tough time with their mental health lately. Writing this prayer to Lord Apollo helped me, and I am hopeful that it will be answered.

Lord Apollo, God of Medicine, Divine Healer, and Bringer of Justice- hear my prayer.

May you shine your light upon everyone feeling down, depressed, and hopeless.

May you comfort the anxious, paranoid, and overwhelmed.

May you bring rest to the insomniacs and freshness to the hypersomniacs.

May your warmth quiet racing thoughts, ground dissociated minds, and bring clarity to the delusional and otherwise psychotic.

For those of us healing from trauma, I ask that you bring justice and closure.

I trust you to aid the afflicted, and I feel gratitude towards you for doing so.

May you guide me to do the same.

A devotional poem I wrote today.

I don't know if other Apollo devotees who are also poets/writers/musicians/etc. have this experience, but I've been writing poetry long before I even discovered helpol, and that makes me feel as though Lord Apollo has been waiting for me for a long time. Poetry has been one of the few constant sources of healing in my life, and I now feel as though Lord Apollo should take credit for that.

On a similar note, I pulled the Eight of Pentacles Reversed today when asking what I need to focus on, which tells me that I need to focus on my poetry more than I have been. This is true. I haven't sat down to write in weeks now, mostly because of my chronic illness and mental health. I feel as though Lord Apollo is guiding me back to where my soul belongs, and that's within the words I write.

Praise be to Lord Apollo. May all his devotees in need of creative juices aquire them very soon.

Thank you so much gods, because when I felt my heart breaking with sadness at seeing that I was being left out, being excluded and being ignored, they held my heart and watched over it so that I did not feel the pain, only a calm and deep peace. Listening to the Orphic hymns helped a lot.

You are not alone. They care about you even when you feel like no one else does, and they will comfort your broken parts.

So for me personally, it's an act of devotion to Apollo. My hair is very special to me, and I am always dying it and styling it different ways. Veiling is sacrificing that part of my self expression to express devotion toward him.

I've also heard folks say it's to protect their energy and what not. I don't fully grasp that concept because it's not why I veil, so if anyone who veils for that reason would like to chime in- go for it!

Little things about my religion that make me happy.

Veiling and feeling so safe.

Doing khernips and feeling much lighter afterwards.

Being able to physically feel the energy in crystals, cards, etc.

Sharing a bowl with Apollo and feeling as though I'm smoking with a close friend.
