She died in a car accident in Ito, Shizuoka on 13 October 1992 while working there with Bungakuza, aged 48.

He was found dead in his hotel room at 6pm on 4 October 1992, shortly after that competition. It was reported that he had earlier complained of sickness and shortness of breath, but refused repeatedly to go to a hospital.

It is believed that the cause of his death was that he took an injection provided by an unidentified man to accelerate the process of his preparation shortly before the competition. His death led to the end of the career of his personal friend Steve Brisbois.

Benaziza was 33 years old and was the star-spin of the new generation of BodyBuilders.

He made his screen debut in The Actress (1953), and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar Friendly Persuasion (1956). Four years later, he appeared in what would be his most noted role, Norman Bates in Psycho (1960), memorializing him into film history forever.

In the 1970s, Perkins decided to undergo conversion therapy. He married Berry Berenson in 1973. He reprised his role as Norman Bates in Psycho II (1983), Psycho III (1986), and Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990).

His last film was In the Deep Woods, an NBC made-for-television film broadcast a month after his death on September 12, 1992, from AIDS-related causes. He was 60.
