What's your favorite memory?

No idea how old this is so I’m sorry if it’s been a while!

I think my favorite memory changes over time, but right now I’m thinking about the last round of US elections in 2020. I was a sophomore in college and everyone on campus was stressed about the election. I remember seeing the results slowly come in on nearly every screen I saw. When it was announced that Biden won, it was an oddly warm day in Minnesota. Classes were canceled and everyone was encouraged to take in the warm air before winter came. I remember hanging out with my friends on the quad in sandals. I remember seeing the videos from TikTok and Instagram of parties across the country. It was such a joyous time. Then the inauguration happened while classes were online. While my professor was trying to teach, every student had the ceremony playing on their phone. After months and years of fear, it was a time of hope.

Compared to now, the eve before the 2025 presidential inauguration, the tone is so different. Now as a graduate student in Colorado, everything happening right now comes with a piece of anxiety. I only hope that it won’t be as bad as we fear.
