Data Management Visualization Course - First activity
Data Set
We are using GDP from each country and life expectancy of each country according to GapMinder https://www.gapminder.org/fw/world-health-chart/whc2021/
Hypothesis
Is there any association between the GDP and life expectancy of any country?
Codebook according to the gapmidner pdf
IncomeCountry - (GDP per capita, $ per year, price adjusted)
Lifeexpectancy- (years)
Incomeperperson -($per year)
Healthexpenditure ($)
Second hypothesis
Is there any association between a country's income (GDP per capita) and healthcare expenditure?
Research:
World Bank: A World Bank report https://databank.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.DYN.LE00.IN/1ff4a498/Popular-Indicators analyzes the relationship between GDP per capita and life expectancy in different countries. The study finds a significant positive correlation, meaning that, in general, countries with higher GDP per capita tend to have longer life expectancies.
Tableau Public: This Tableau Public data visualization https://help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/predictions_example.htm shows graphically the relationship between life expectancy at birth and GDP per capita in each country. The general trend is clear: as GDP per capita increases, so does life expectancy.
Hypothesis 1: There is a positive correlation between a country's GDP per capita (IncomeCountry) and life expectancy. (This aligns with the findings from the World Bank and Tableau Public).
Hypothesis 2: There is a positive correlation between a country's GDP per capita (IncomeCountry) and healthcare expenditure (Healthexpenditure). (This is a new hypothesis to explore).
