Words cannot describe how frustrated I felt by this ALMOST mutsurie confession moment in tg:re chapter 126. Uri tried to open up to Mutsuki . Mutsuki almost followed-up but nope, 'stopping Sasaki' was the focus here. It's a real shame because it's blatant there could have been something mutual between them. Talk about a missed opportunity. Yes, I am sounding like it's a shoujo but nope, this is a tokyo ghoul:re moment.

I love how Urie and Mutsuki are working together and giving advice to others. It reminded me of this:
Look at my beautiful couple showing others how things are done.

20 and 4 for mutsurie 👀👀👀👀
"As long as I'm alive, I will do everything I can to protect you"
"As if I'm going to let go of you that easily"
*After the whole saving Mutsuki from himself thing*
“Mutsuki…why are you up here all by yourself?” Urie asked, gaze meeting Mutsuki who was leaning slightly over the balcony railing. Not enough for him to fall, but enough to worry him. It didn’t take a mind reader to understand.
Mutsuki froze “Ah, just nothing”
Urie walked over and copied Mutsuki’s position. The city looked like a damn mess. Reflective of their lives he thought with a dark chuckle “I know what you’re thinking”
“Urie…”
“Listen” Urie nudged his shoulder “You think I’d let you do that? As if I’m going to let go of you that easily”
Mutsuki shuddered and Urie noticed that he was crying. Tears dripped onto his borrowed clothes. In any other circumstance Urie might have smiled at the sight of Mutsuki wearing his clothes. But having no other choice but to wear them because his own were stained with Urie’s blood was a bit of a downer.
“I’ve been selfish” Mutsuki sobbed.
Urie wrapped his arms around Mutsuki, drawing him against his chest and stroking his hair with one hand “We’ve all been selfish (Me, especially)”
“Not like me. You all had reasons at least. I just had an obsession with Haise because I thought he could bring me happiness” His voice was muffled against Urie’s shirt.
“Hey, that’s a reason”
Mutsuki laughed brokenly “Yeah, a shitty one” He wiped the tears from his cheeks using the bottom of Urie’s borrowed shirt “I feel like a burden to you all. What I did was unforgivable”
“Do you remember…that night at the auction?” Urie tried. Mutsuki may have been present that night, but Urie had never really told him why he considered it to be so significant.
“Of course, I do”
“That night I told you I wished you were dead, and you responded by comforting me. That’s when I knew you were important to me. I won’t let anything bad happen to you again (I’ve failed you too many times now)”
“Important, huh?” He sniffled.
Urie paused. It was beyond inappropriate. Disgraceful, even, and incredibly ill-timed. But, maybe Mutsuki needed to hear it “I love you”
Urie could both feel and hear Mutsuki’s racing heartbeat against his own “And if I don’t feel the same way?”
He was probably uncomfortable. Urie wouldn’t allow himself to keep false promises anymore. He had lost too many loved ones. No more. No more.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as I’m alive, I will do everything I can to protect you (I can handle it)”
“And if I do?” Mutsuki asked quietly.
Urie swallowed. He hadn’t anticipated that being the case.
“I-I’m not sure exactly…what love is anymore, or if I ever did, but I think the way I feel about you might be the answer” Mutsuki continued.
“Mutsuki” He said in wonder, at a loss for more words than that.
“I saw you looking at me at Takeomi’s wedding” He admitted “You wanted me, but you didn’t try to do anything. That was confusing from a man”
Urie’s heart sank “Then that’s just respect, and I’ll always give you that, you don’t have to feel like you owe-”
“Kuki” Mutsuki said, looking up at him with a serious expression “It’s different. I feel different about you and Saiko even though I care about you both. When I see you, my heart-” He placed Urie’s hand over his thudding heart “-goes so fast”
“Ah” Urie awkwardly said in response.
Mutsuki’s expression twisted “But you aren’t interested in that now” he stated, as if it were a fact.
“I am, but I want to make sure this is really what you want” Urie reached out to clasp his hands. He cursed his inability to adequately express himself. What he wanted to do was just kiss him, but he wouldn’t yet. He could wait.
“I guess you want me to go to therapy first?”
He nodded “If that’s okay with you. You need to look after yourself first”
“Thank you”
“For what?”
“Being there. You and Saiko are the family I never had” Mutsuki said, then added “Shirazu too. Do you think he’s watching over us?”
“He’s probably saying that my confession was awful” Urie joked.
Mutsuki laughed, light and airy. A real laugh. Urie smiled at him. He hoped to hear that laugh for many years to come.
