Do you guys have any idea how dangerous this family would have been without a moral compass?

Like not all of them were good, not all of them were even decent. But some of them I believe at least had a moral compass. There were lines they would not cross. They were not the worst of the worst, especially compared to the Borgias.

But gods, could you imagine if they had no morals?

If the Medici men did not care what lines they crossed, and neither did the incredibly strong women that stood beside them? Do you have any idea how far they would have gone to get what they wanted?

They would have ruled the world and burned it down at the same time.

If the Medici abandoned their morals even Rodrigo Borgia and The Dark Prince would be afraid.

aka tmw you get to star in a biopic of your idol, the biggest movie star to come from your country, but you're too old for the leading role by that point, it goes to someone who isn't even Welsh, and there's even a scene where he gets heavily glazed for his insanely good acting chops right in front of your character!

Anyone else think Ni was channeling his actual feelings of jealousy into his Mr. Burton performance?

Finally got to watch Mr. Burton last night. It was really good but kind of sad. Especially since Aneurin has only like 10 minutes of screentime in it as usual lol.

But something I noticed was there was this one scene where young Richard Burton does a school play with his family in attendance and afterwards his teacher and his landlady come up to congratulate him. If you look at Aneurin's character's reaction to Richard's acting being praised, it almost looks like he's fighting back tears.

I'm just saying, he's admitted in interviews in the past that he sometimes tries to get inside his character's heads by channeling his own feelings regarding the role into their circumstances. And he's made very little secret about how Richard Burton is one of his biggest inspirations as an actor. And I'm not saying I know the guy's inner workings, but I don't think I need to be his personal psychiatrist to know most people given the chance to star in a biopic of their biggest idol would probably prefer to play said idol over any other character.

Of course in Aneurin's case, he was probably way too old by that point to play Richard Burton during his teenage years (which is what the movie focuses on and they don't recast him once he gets older). But still, it must have hurt to get passed over for his dream-role solely on that basis in favor of a relative unknown (who isn't even Welsh like him or Burton)!

On a lighter note, this is the second movie he's starred in where he was completely overshadowed by an actor named Harry lol
