lisa frankenstein was so fun because it follows the slasher movie formula really closely, actually. it's just that instead of the main character being the final girl, you're seeing everything from the perspective of the slasher villain. and the slasher villain thinks she's in a romcom.
#yes !!#i also left the movie kind of jarred by the ending bc lisa did NOT feel like the final girl- taffy did!#lisa frankenstein#i think my biggest issue is prob that the ending wasnt super satisfying. to ME at least#largely bc lisa looking SO fucked up felt bad#like it left me unsure of whether she could RLLY come back to how she was before and be happy#esp bc it looked like taffy was a LOT older to me?#so lisa still being so bandaged and fucked up looking was like... wait is this the best she'll get even w time?#and ik other ppl dont see it that way! that they think that it implies the creature will do for lisa what she did for him#but i think that for ME to feel that i needed to see her like. halfway to being alive or smth. not THAT fucked up looking#and seeing her that fucked up was just a little too dark of an ending for how much lighter the rest of the movie's tone was#like a weirdly disturbing and unsettling and uncomfy ending for an otherwise rlly fun campy movie#BUT. that is also tbh WHYYYY taffy feels like such a final girl!#bc lisa doesnt. PLUS taffy's look of confusion before revealing her monster is still around DID feel rlly final girl coded!#i think i want to know a little more in the end tho. more details.#like how old is taffy now? whats the story the public knows? how did taffy interpret things? how does taffy feel abt lisa?#why does taffy still wear the rosary? will lisa be able to heal to a better state than what we see her in? how does lisa feel?#etc#but while the ending was unsatisfying and a lil unsettling like i said#the movie was rlly fun#and yeah. LMAO. tldr taffy totally is the final girl#which makes lisa the villain of what is TAFFYS story

Got to see Hadestown for the first time ever today (and it was amazing oh my god I had no idea what I was missing) and I'd just like to give a shout out to the poor soul in the audience who had clearly never heard the myth of Orpheus before, because when Orpheus turned around at the end the audience was dead silent except for this one very audible gasp of "no!" from somewhere in the crowd. And after Euridyce was gone and Orpheus dropped to his knees in grief, all anybody --cast, audience, the uncaring gods, etc -- could hear was muffled weeping from the same person

#GOD josh o'connor is SUCH a good actor#he has this very acute physicality in his performance? and its subtle but it's EXCELLENT#like this vibe. open mouthed gum chewing and legs bouncing and cocky athleticism. is SOOOO diff from josh himself or any of his other roles#but it's such a palpable undercurrent here that sells him as patrick!#like yes josh o connor is an excellent actor. but all his iconic roles are SOOOO diff. none of them share any quirks in body language#which is part of why josh o connor has rlly resisted any type of type casting. and done iconic roles that are VERY diff. its SO impressive#challengers

on the second watch of challengers and noticing when tashi asked if there was anything between the boys and patrick got quiet and waited for art to respond first so he knew what to say (or what not to say). like he looked like a dejected puppy waiting for art’s response and when he actually did respond, it clearly hurt him.
