When Tessa was little and starting to draw she had no one to teach her on how. Not even Rippen cause he can't draw for shit.

So Penn shows her. Rippen would rather die then have his own daughter learn form his mortal enemy on something he should know.

In his spite he studies art and art history. From Frida kahlo to Francis Bacon and drawing work shops.

Along the way he really starts to love art with all the pain and suffering it produces.
