Daggerfall Build #2: The Temptress
Overview
Who is the Temptress?
The Temptress is a greedy, sexy trickster who uses powerful magic to hide herself in the shadows and seduce foes, before stabbing them in the back. She is a servant of both Aedra and Daedra, who fights with a dark blazing passion for both love and blood.
Difficulty level?
This is a high difficulty build, for reasons that will become apparent quite quickly
Character Creation
Race?
Any race except Argonian can work for this build, you should probably be female but a Male temptress could be cool as well.
Attributes?
Drop your Endurance down to 10 to start, and your Luck down to about 25 or 15. Pour as much as you can into Agility, Speed, Intelligence, and Personality, and throw any excess into Strength. Feel free to drop Willpower by 5 or 10 points as well if you feel like it.
Skills?
For primary skills, Illusion and Etiquette are absolutely necessary. For the third slot either Short Blade or Long Blade, though you could do Archery
For major skills, Archery, Thaumaturgy, and Backstabbing are preferred. If you took Archery as a major skill, Short Blade or Long Blade, and possibly even Running all work great. Alternatively, you can put Daedric here instead of Mysticism.
For minor skills, Jumping, Climbing, Dodging, Critical Strike, Stealth, Pickpocketing, Mysticism, Destruction, Medical, and Daedric are all good here. Do not put Restoration here, as your are not allowed to use any healing or regeneration spells.
Advantages and Disadvantages?
For advantages, you should take Expertise in your primary weapon skill, Increased magery 3 times INT, Bonus to hit undead (this one is extremely important), Athleticism, and possibly Adrenaline Rush.
For disadvantages, you must forbid all armor types, the material Silver, and shields. Otherwise, feel free to restrict your Magic usage to darkness, forbid Orcish and any weapon types you don’t plan to use.
If you take any extra challenges, which are listed at the end of this guide, feel free to add Bonus to hit daedra and Immunity to magic, but do not take Immunity to Paralysis.
Background questions?
Make sure to take any boosts to your Illusion and primary weapon as well as the ebony dagger if it’s offered. Always choose Quicksilver as your childhood name, and take any boosts to conversational skills that you see.
Stat rolling?
Try and roll as high as possible in Personality, Agility, Speed, and Intelligence. If you can get a zero roll, or at least a low roll, on Endurance and Luck that would be ideal.
Execution
Gameplay and factions?
For combat, you will be relying on Invisibility and True Invisibility for taking down most enemies. Your high Agility and Speed allows you to get backstabs on most enemies, and deal exceptional damage in melee combat despite your low endurance. Restoration spells are forbidden, but potion making is not. Potions will become extremely useful, if not necessary as you become stronger. Pacify undead spells will also help immensely, since undead will be able to see through your invisibility, which is also why we took bonus to hit undead earlier.
Out of combat, random murder and thievery are more than welcome, and try your best to lie or debate your way out of court when you can. You will also be spending lots of money at clothing shops to make yourself as sexy as possible.
For factions, the house of dibella is a must, the mage’s guild, dark brotherhood, and temple of mara are also great options. If you choose to take on any of the extra challenges, the vampire clans (specifically Anthotis or Khulari) and dark brotherhood are a must. The main quest fits perfectly fine, and the fighters guild or other temples would be fine as well.
Sanguine, Boethiah, and Mephala’s quests are also great to complete and fit right in with the roleplaying aspect. And while Boethiah’s artifact isn’t the best, Sanguine and Mephala’s are absolutely perfect for this build.
Example spells?
Nightfade: Invisibility (Normal/True) to self
Dark Seduction: Pacify undead target
Umbral Massacre: Invisibility (True), fortify Strength, and fortify Speed to self
Extra challenges?
For an extra challenge, you can add the damage from sunlight and holy places disadvantage, and then plan to become a vampire (since you will have these disadvantages anyway). You can join the house of dibella and temple of mara, and then forsake them after turning to join the dark brotherhood and vampire bloodlines.

Daggerfall Build #1: The Phantom
Overview
Who is the Phantom?
The Phantom is a mortal caught halfway between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Once a noble marksman, the Phantom retains their mortal flesh, however they are capable of becoming non-corporeal or invisible at will while they strike down enemies in a flurry with phantasmal arrows. With every day that they wander, their souls splits further between this world and the next, driving them ever closer to insanity.
Difficulty level?
This build could be somewhat difficult for new players, but otherwise is only somewhat challenging. The optional challenges listed at the end make this build much more difficult, but also more interesting.
Character Creation
Race?
While any race can work, Breton is the most preferred for this build. Bosmer, Khajiit, or Altmer also fit quite well, though again, any race is acceptable.
Attributes?
Feel free to drop your Personality and Luck down to somewhere around 20 or 30, for role playing reasons you shouldn’t drop them any further. Most importantly you should drop your Endurance down to at least 35, if not lower. This will allow you to boost Agility, Speed, and Intelligence up to 75 each. If you choose to lower your Endurance even lower, or if you choose to lower your Strength, any excess points should go into Willpower. If you lower your Strength, do not lower it further than 35.
Skills?
For primary skills, Archery is absolutely necessary since it will be pretty much the only weapon type you will use. Mysticism and Illusion should fill up the other two slots, though you can experiment with Stealth or Running if you really want to.
For major skills, if either Running, Stealth, Mysticism, or Illusion did not go into your primary skill slots, they should go here in your major. Dodging should fill up the final slot, though Critical Strike, Backstabbing, or even Thaumaturgy are also options.
For minor skills, Jumping, Climbing, Dodging, Critical Strike, Thaumaturgy, Swimming, Restoration, Backstabbing, or even Short Blade (only for the Ebony Dagger) are all viable options.
Advantages and Disadvantages?
For advantages, you must take Expertise in Missile Weapons, Increased magery 3 times INT, Bonus to hit undead, and Athleticism.
For disadvantages, you must take Damage from holy places and Forbid the material Silver. Otherwise, feel free to restrict your Magic usage to darkness, forbid Orcish and any weapon types besides Missile and maybe Short Blade.
If you take any extra challenges, which are listed at the end of this guide, feel free to add Immunity to Paralysis. You may also choose to drop Bonus to hit undead in favor of Regeneration in the dark, though this is not recommended.
Background questions?
Make sure to take any boosts to your Archery, Mysticism, and Illusion as well as any free arrows offered to you. Always choose Quicksilver as your childhood name. If offered the Ebony Dagger, you may take, but it should only be used in situations where your bow is unable to damage enemies or you are incapable of producing arrows.
Stat rolling?
Try and roll as high as possible in Agility and Speed, and secondarily Intelligence. If you can get a zero roll, or at least a low roll, on Endurance and Strength that would be ideal.
Execution
Gameplay and factions?
For combat, you should use your bow pretty much exclusively to deal damage. Your high Agility and Speed allow you to move extremely quickly while you dash around enemies, striking them with arrows, which you should mostly obtain through conjuring them with the Create Item spell. You should of course also use Mark and Recall, and use Invisibility and Levitate spells when you can.
Out of combat, random murder and thievery are more than welcome given the Phantom’s shattered mental state, however you are still somewhat mortal, so don’t be afraid to do a good deed every now and then.
For factions, the mage’s guild, dark brotherhood, and vampire clans (specifically Anthotis and Lyrezi) are all great options. The main quest is by no means forbidden, and the thieves guild or even fighters guild can be justified. The knightly orders are a bit harder to roleplay, but the only groups truly locked off are the holy temples, who are extremely difficult to do quests for when you take damage from holy places.
Becoming a vampire fits perfectly with your character, but is by no means necessary.
Example spells?
Spirit Quiver: Create item for brief period (only used for Arrows) on self
Ghastly Respite: Invisibility (Normal), Regenerate health, and Levitation on self
Soul Surge: Create item for brief period (only used for Arrows) and Fortify speed and/or agility
Extra challenges?
For an extra challenge, you can add the Damage from sunlight disadvantage, forbid yourself from using armor (only robes), or do a self imposed challenge to only use conjured arrows (this is personally my favorite).
You can also roleplay as trying to be “cured” of your strange condition, joining and raising through the ranks of the Order of Arkay. This is an extremely difficult route to go, especially if you took on other extra challenges, but is certainly great for roleplaying.
