All the people complaining about how the trail ruins look ugly remind me of the people laughing at the flattened corpses of Psychrolutes marcidus after they're drudged up from their natural environment.
Like... do you not know what ruins mean? They're supposed to be the remains of buildings that deteriorated and were covered in sediment over a long period of time. Shockingly, things that were broken apart and stripped from their original context tend to look different than what you'd expect from new buildings and properly pressurized fish.

I’m really mad that my first overworld death in Legends Arceus was fall damage from an alpha yeeting me off a cliff by screaming real loud.
Worse yet, since I chose to go by “Max” in the game, and for some reason of the 4 items I lost it decided to preview my satchel with the ONE regular Pokeball I picked up in the wilds, it means my lost satchel will just look like a generic low level player’s which annoys the heck out of me.
To add insult to injury, the reason I was by the cliff was because I was looking for that one dude’s sister, who literally fell onto a safe cliff not two meters from where I fell, and when I talked to her she said she was knocked off by a Pokemon, but she survived.
The cherry on top? Of the items I lost, one of them was the expensive AF charm that’s supposed to stop me from blacking out. Just... great...

Man isn’t it just fucking great to download a 100GB game and then not be able to play it because the damn LAUNCHER won’t load?!
Nah. It’s totally great. It’s not like I already spent hours researching the game before even starting the six hour download because I wanted to make sure I could jump in as smoothly as possible. Pssh!

They may have excluded the Feng Shui luck mechanic from New Horizons but you know, I am pretty happy with the new luck system. It’s easier to understand and you can do something meaningful about bad luck.
I mean, man, it feels good to be able to dig up 6 inventories full of flowers and crops without my shovel breaking once. Brings me back to the days where Animal Crossing didn’t have a stupid durability system on basic tools.

hey i just wanted to put a quick post up for people that may not know, cuz i certainly didnt until a couple years ago, but the whole prescription glasses industry is a massive racket, and i wanted to let people know about the more affordable options for buying or replacing glasses
when you go to an optometrist to get your eyes tested, they take a lot of measurements and will give you a prescription that lists things like how near or farsighted each eye is, spherical and cylindrical measurements for astigmatism, etc, but one measure they almost always leave out of the portion they give you is your interpupillary distance, that is, the distance between your pupils, measured in millimeters
the reason they leave that out is because if you have your full prescription, including the interpupillary distance, you can just go online and buy glasses from a place like zenni optical for less than $20 USD. and if you go and buy them online, thats ~$200 they dont get to bilk from you
so, you have two options, you can either request your interpupillary distance number when you get your eyes tested, which they cant legally withhold from you because its medical information
This Is Specifically Enforced By The Federal Trade Commission!
https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/blogs/business-blog/2016/05/clear-picture-complying-ftcs-eyeglass-rule
they dont get to withhold this! a lot of them will lie to you, or try to skirt around it, because they want your money. raise a fucking stink. this is an argument you can win.
the other option is to measure your interpupillary distance at home, using either a ruler and a mirror, or a phone app which is made for this purpose
https://www.zennioptical.com/measuring-pd-infographic
once you have your full prescription information, you can buy glasses online, made to your specific prescription, for well under a TENTH the cost of ones you would buy at a brick and mortar store

You know I was happy for the return of villagers visiting my Animal Crossing house again... until I realized that the ONLY reason I go into my house is to unload twenty stacks of turnips onto the floor.
Three weeks in a ROW now, I was trying to drop off my turnips and some random villagers pops in, stopping me from dropping my turnips, and forcing me to wait for them to leave.
At least going to the Switch home screen seems to make them leave faster?

In my pursuit of snacks I’ve given this fox 25,000 bells.
I like how whenever I buy tickets from Redd’s raffle, he gives me this devious little chuckle like he’s draining my life savings with his five dollar doughnuts.

Okay maybe it was a little devious of him to give me a orange&mint double scoop ice cream cone.

How are people finding my posts? Like, I made them forever ago and they weren’t reblogged whatsoever.
I’m not mad or uncomfortable about it. I’m just confused.

There will be no more major updates so there is no longer a great change at them fixing any of this nonsense.
...
Well... at least you can put DIY cards in storage now?
I love New Horizons and really think it improved on SO many aspects of Animal Crossing, but it REALLY REALLY REALLY needs to get its stuff together when it comes to very basic quality of life features.
It should not take 15 seconds of button mashing to buy a SINGLE bell voucher. It should not take multiple minutes to assess 4 fossils and then donate something, not even accounting the extra time it takes if you want to have Blathers describe every fossil individually. It should not take 5 minutes to craft 20 freakin’ bags of FISH BAIT.
Why do I have to take off my wand outfit and wet suit myself if I wanna go into the changing room? Why is there a line of dialog for every single one of the five things I have to select to construct or demolish a bridge? Why is the button to speed up the pointless shop dialog the same button that closes the shop menu?  Why can’t I disable the game describing critters I’ve already caught to me when I catch them again?
There’s a checkmark to show you’ve crafted an item, why isn’t there one to show you’ve BOUGHT an item? I can check the variations of items I’ve bought in the shopping catalog, why can’t I see what the variations for a DIY recipe are without having to go to a crafting bench to check? I can do a search for specific items in the catalog, why can’t I search for a specific item in the DIY recipe list?
Why does doing ANY construction suck so bad? Why isn’t there an option to hold A or something to let me run in a straight line to paint a long path? Why are the controls so clunky? WHY ISN’T THERE A TILE INDICATOR IN A TILE BASED GAME?! Stardew Valley, a game made by one guy, has easy to place paths and a tile indicator, while Nintendo, an enormous company, still forces you to make paths blindly and one single tile at a time.
THE VERY GIMMICK OF THIS GAME IS POORLY IMPLEMENTED. Everything surrounding crafting is EXTREMELY TEDIOUS. Why can’t I craft multiple items? Why can’t I craft complicated recipes with recipes inside them in one go when I have all the materials in my inventory? Why is customization a separate menu? Why can’t crafting benches in my house draw from materials in storage when a closet OUTSIDE lets me alter outfits from my house’s storage?! Why are villager DIY recipes completely random instead of giving a larger chance of getting new recipes when balloons drop new recipes more frequently? WHY CAN’T DIY CARDS GO INTO STORAGE?! I LOVE being able to craft stuff but every step of the process is a CHORE!
I could keep typing. I just keep thinking of more and more inconveniences every time I finish a sentence. On their own, each point isn’t usually that big a deal. But there are SO MANY of those small things that they add up. This game is missing the usual polish that most Nintendo games have. I don’t have the same shopping list of complaints for games like BotW and Mario Odyssey, which also sold very well, but not as spectacularly as New Horizons. Thankfully, New Horizons is still being updated, so they still have a chance to fix some of this nonsense, and I really hope they do.
