A smirk was on his lips as the other spoke. “Maybe it’ll help to remember that if you do as you are expected to out there, we can come back here and I’ll do whatever you want for the rest of the night.” he said teasingly. He nodded and stepped out the other following him, soon having to walk into the crowd of people who had come to congratulate Adira and Phin. “How do you like being the center of attention?” he asked, taking the other’s hand and leading him where Adira was waiting for him.
“Merlin, Stef..” Phineas groaned, cheeks flushing red as he thought about the many, many things he wanted the other to do to him. “How am I supposed to navigate all that if I’m thinking about you naked?” He almost whined. Phineas breathed heavily when he stepped out. “I bloody hate it,” He muttered, shaking his head. His cheeks flushed red as the other took his hand, briefly wishing it was a party for the two of them, not for him and Adira. He quickly banished that thought to the back of his mind, he knew his crush on Stefan would never develop into anything more. “On with the show,” He rolled his eyes, before smiling at the other.

“I am glad you realized that.” he said in a much softer tone. “You know you deserve better, right?” When he had heard of her engagement Stefan was the opposite of pleased but he wasn’t at a place to tell her what was the right thing to do. Or rather, what she should do to make herself happy. He was glad that he even though it took her time, she had gotten out of a marriage she had clearly been unhappy in. A smile lit up on his face at her agreement. “No, it’s perfect logic.” he said with a smirk on his lips. “Six it is.” He paused for a moment before he shook his head. “Not really sure I should tell you, Meda. It’s kind of.. a deal. I can handle it.”
“I’m beginning to, yeah. I never used to.” She admitted softly, chewing on her lower lip. Andromeda briefly wondered whether she should tell him just exactly how awful Maddox had been, but thought better of it. “I just wish I hadn’t put so much effort into something that wasn’t working,” She sighed. However, at his smile, one of her own grew. She had missed seeing him smile, and that was a dangerous thought she ought to push down. “Of course it is,” She teased, before shaking her head, “Do I not get to go home and change first? I haven’t exactly got the best of outfits with me to change into.” A laugh escaped her lips before it died. “Stef, you’ve got to know how that sounds...” She trailed off, before sighing, “Just, be careful, okay?”

“I know my family wants to help me. But don’t you get it? They cannot. You cannot. Everything has changed for me and I can’t let people in when I know I could end up dragging them down with me and that includes you.” he said firmly before his brows furrowed in confusion. “That is a cage you are creating for yourselves.” He knew a little something about how things worked in families like hers, but times were changing and he had also seen people fight against their family when they wanted it hard enough. “If you don’t want that future, find a way get out of it.”
“Oh, Merlin, honestly, Blaise. No I don’t bloody get it, because how do you know you will drag us down? You don’t. You could ruin your own happiness over what ifs.” Celia shook her head, “You don’t know how my family is, Blaise. I wanted a way out, you were my way out, Blaise. I saw a future with you. I still do. If you would let me.”

“Okay.” she sighed. Ever since her brother was taken, Marlene had done nothing but worry – spending every waking minute trying to find a way to get information, to find a way to get him back but nothing had worked out. Not that she was going to give up. And she was glad Cain seemed just as determined as her. As much as she tried to stay strong though, it wasn’t very easy, not when they were part of a literal war. “I keep thinking about how all of us are.. well, none of our futures are really clear anymore, is it? And I don’t want to sound pessimistic but we are going to lose people, it’s inevitable.” she pulled back a little to look at him. “I don’t want to lose anyone.” she said quietly, fingers tracing his cheek. “I don’t want to lose you.”
Cain fell quiet as he listened to her. He’d thought the same, especially with a family his size. It was inevitable he’d loose someone, shit, they’d almost lost Emrys. “I get that, but you won’t lose me. I promise, okay? I’m not going anywhere,” He murmured, reaching out to cup her cheek. He leaned into her touch, before letting out a shaky breath - his gaze falling back down to her lips. “Marls?” He murmured, “Tell me it’s a terrible idea to kiss you right now.”

“You think maybe I am not good enough for him?” she asked quietly as she wiped away her tears struggling to stop the tears which just kept coming despite her wanting it to stop. She managed a watery smile as the other tried to make her feel better. “You are too good to me, Drew.” she laughed lightly before she downed the drink she held. “Yeah, maybe there’s something better out there. Who knows.” she said, but she couldn’t really bring herself to believe it. “I’m sorry I am ruining your evening.”
“You’re too good for him,” Drew told her firmly, reaching out to wipe her tears away. “Nah, I’m just a decent person,” He teased before shrugging his shoulders. “There definitely is, you’ll find ‘em, Hales.” Drew told her softly, before scoffing. “I’m spending time with you, my evening is just fine.”

A laugh left his lips at the other’s words before his hand went around the nape of Phin’s neck and he leaned in to press a kiss onto his lips. Which was probably a mistake considering it was always hard for him to pull away from him. “That better?” he murmured as he stepped back after a few moments, gaze falling on his lips again before he forced himself to fucking behave. “Maybe we can take it from here later tonight?” he suggested before he smiled a little as the other confirmed that he did trust him. “Good, now we just push through the evening and you have something to look forward to for later too. Put your best smile on.”
Phineas hummed contently as the other kissed him, only to let out a whine as he pulled away. “No, because now I want to just stay up here for the rest of the night with you,” He huffed, before running his hands down his face. Merlin, he was going to need a cold shower if he wasn’t careful. “I’ll hold you to that,” He teased, before letting out a groan. With a sigh, he plastered a smile across his lips. “After you.”

lockwords:
It was not long before Corban did come to find her which she knew he would but then again a part of her was also doubtful considering he was marrying some girl and she was well, old news. She didn’t want to feel insecure but despite the show she put on there was always a part of her which pushed her to think very lowly of herself. Luckily for her though, she was too annoyed with Corban for that part of her to take control instead she rolled her eyes when he spoke to her despite her losing her breath on seeing him up close. He was a gorgeous man. “You are talking to me about how to treat old friends?” she snapped and downed her drink, placing the glass on a tray when a waiter passed by with one. “You didn’t think to say hello to me before bragging about your engagement in an e-invite which wasn’t even fucking personalized.” She raised a brow as she followed his eyes trailing down her body, a smirk forming on her lips. “Like what you see?” she asked him mockingly.
The second she snapped at him, Corban grimaced. Yeah, he definitely deserved that. Corban couldn’t stop his gaze from wandering and he hated himself for it. This was his damn engagement party, for fucks sake. “I wasn’t bragging. Besides, what was I supposed to say? Jasmin dear, I know we’ve not talked in years but I just thought I’d let you know I’m getting married, would you be a doll and come to my engagement party? I wasn’t even sure you’d turn up,” He admitted, running a hand through his hair, before his eyes narrowed at her mocking tone. “Don’t,” he warned lowly. Corban stared at the drink in his hand before draining it in one, grabbing a second off a passing waiter before he took another swig. He was certainly going to need it. His eyes flickered downwards again and he groaned. “This is borderline cruelty,” He muttered into the rim of his glass. His eyes flickered round before he noticed his fiancé. She didn’t look happy, and Corban knew seeing him with Jasmin would only cause a scene. Shit. “Look, if you want to talk, meet me upstairs, first door on the left. If not, I’ll take the hint and leave you alone.” He muttered, one last look at his fiancé, before disappearing up the stairs.

“Oh.” Her words took him by surprise, he hadn’t known that but then again, he had barely kept in touch with anyone back home since Mara died so there really wasn’t a way for him to find out. “Well, I’d say I am sorry but I am not. I always knew you deserved better than him.” he said bluntly. Perhaps it was not what he should say, he normally would have been more careful about the words he spoke, except he was too tired to care about anything anymore. “Okay. Fine. Maybe you can go to dinner with me then?” he said, a smirk on his lips as he lifted his brow challengingly. “Make sure I eat.” He shrugged his shoulders. “Well, this is a hospital, right? I am here for a prescription.”
“He... wasn’t right for me,” It wasn’t entirely a lie. However, as Stefan spoke bluntly, her eyes widened, before an huff of laughter left her lips. “Well I guess you were right about that,” She’d always doubted it until recently. Andromeda wasn’t sure what she deserved, but it certainly wasn’t how Maddox had treated her. It’d just taken her far too long to realise that. At the mention of dinner, Andy froze like a deer in the headlights, cheeks flushing red. “Well I can’t really argue with that logic can I?” Andy briefly wondered if he was asking her as friends or.... no, that was in the past, was it not? “Dinner sounds great. I finish at 6?” She offered, before frowning slightly. “Right, yes. Of course. Which doctor usually gives you the prescription? I can point you in the right direction, I hope.”

“Or maybe I do!” he insisted. That night at the woods had changed everything for him. He had pushed away his family, his friends, even the girl he knew he was falling in love with. He had one companion and that was loneliness. “Celia, don’t do this. I love you too, I do, and nothing changed for me regarding how I felt about you, but I am not good for you.”
“No, you don’t,” Celia said firmly, “Do you really think your cousins would let you do this alone? People want to help you, Blaise, you just have to let them,” She sighed heavily, shaking her head. “Do what? Speak the truth? Not good for me?” The girl scoffed, before crossing her arms over her chest. “No, what’s not good for me, if my parents paring me with some pretentious asshole that I have to live with, miserable, for the rest of my life. Would you prefer I had that?”

“I’m scared, Cain.” she admitted in a whisper. The touch of his fingers made her look into his eyes and then down at his lips before she rested her head again his chest again. There were enough problems without her complicating what was between them. They were friends now, weren’t they? Nothing more. “It’s hard to hope, what if I never find my brother?”
“I am too,” He admitted, softly. He caught sight of her looking at his lips, his own gaze falling down to hers. He knew he shouldn’t, he didn’t want to complicate things between the two of them but he was tired of trying to deny his feelings, especially when they had no idea what was waiting for them around the corner. “We will do everything we can to find him.”

lockwords:
“No, I want you to distance yourself from the girl who’s going to break your heart. I’ve seen what Finn and her are like longer than you have, okay? She always goes back. And I know you are going to be crushed every time she does that.” He rolled his eyes when the other claimed it was just a crush, clearly disbelieving. “What if I am? A little jealous?” he said with a shrug of his shoulders. “I don’t know, some of these guys are attractive.” he mused as he looked through his phone before he looked up at him again. “I don’t whine.” he added indignantly.
Drew scoffed, shaking his head. “I’ve already had my heart broken once, Carl, I think I’ll be fine if it happens again. I just hate seeing her get hurt, that’s all.” He sighed, before he blinked at the other when he spoke again. “Wait what? Why would you be jealous?” He asked, brows furrowing in confusion. “Eh,” He muttered, ignoring the weird feeling in his chest, what was that about? “You’re better looking than they are,” He admitted, before letting out a laugh. “You definitely do.”

A bitter laugh left her lips. She did love him but she wasn’t even sure why anymore. And the pictures she saw was proof of how stupid she had been all this while. Wasting her time with him, changing her life for him. She looked up at Drew as he wiped away her tears. He was always so nice to her. “What is better?” she said softly. “I’ve never known what is better. I’ve never known being with anyone but him. He was my first everything.”
“Someone that actually looks out for you, and not just themselves. There’s nothing wrong with putting yourself first once in a while, but not to the extend he does, Hales.” He smiled sadly at her, before shaking his head. “Just because he was your first, doesn’t mean he has to be your last. There will be someone out there that will treat you with the kindness and respect you actually deserve.”

“Telling me what?” he asked the other curiously before his tone grew somewhat hysterical. “Worry? Why would I worry more? Mary what the hell is going on?” If he had been worried before it was nothing to what he felt now, his mind coming up with the worst possibilities of what was going on. “No, I am not, and I cannot promise anything. Just please tell me what’s going on.” he almost begged her, brows furrowing together.
“Hey, hey it’s nothing bad I promise,” Mary reassured him, swallowing. “Such a drama queen,” She muttered under her breath, before slipping her arms from his neck and taking his hands in her own instead. “You know how Lily and James were joking about it being our turn since they had Harry last month? Well, uh, I guess they were right. I’m pregnant.” She spoke quietly, unusually nervous as she reused to meet his gaze.

“Good for you. You picked the right place too, this is nothing like back home.” he told the other. “Can’t believe your dear husband agreed to get anywhere out of that place though. You must be really convincing.” He had never really gotten along with Maddox, and hearing she had married him had been hard to process but they both had to move on once he had left to travel, and she wanted to stay and study. “Meda, I can eat when I am hungry.” he said with a mildly exasperated shake of his head as she tried to take care of him, so like how he remembered her. “Maybe I don’t want to answer you.”
“It certainly isn’t,” It was something she was grateful for. However, at the mention of Maddox, she froze, the smile slipping off of her lips in an instant as she instinctively tugged at the sleeves of her scrubs, hoping they covered all of the marks that littered her arms. “We got divorced.” Her gaze flickered to the floor and she refused to meet his eyes. It wasn’t a lie, she just neglected to tell him the divorce papers also came with a restraining order and had been signed while the other was behind bars. “You can, doesn’t mean you will,” She pointed out, before shaking her head. “Then don’t answer me, you don’t owe me anything, Stef, I’m merely trying to look out for you.”

“I do actually. Very much.” he said with a small smile on his lips. There was a time when he would have denied it point blank but not anymore. That time was long gone. He was relieved when she agreed but his brows furrowed at her words. “Last? Why?” he asked her curiously. “I mean, I am glad you’ll be safe but.. this doesn’t seem like you. What aren’t you telling me?”
“Good,” She mused, pressing her lips briefly to his. Mary definitely didn’t miss the days the two skirted around their feelings. However, as he began to question her, Mary suddenly regretted her choice of words. “I was planning to tell you when we got back. The last thing I need is you worrying more,” her teeth tugged on her lower lip, before letting out a sigh. “You’re not going to leave this alone, are you?” She asked him, though she knew he was just concerned. “Alright, just... promise not to freak out, okay?” She murmured, slipping her arms around his neck.

lockwords:
He was getting engaged? Jasmin was not sure how to feel about that. Especially because she had to learn this from an invitation to his fucking engagement party on her email. Technically, he didn’t owe her a thing. They were just friends before. Inseparable best friends but nothing more. Jasmin could remember how much she had wanted it to be more but then he had left, broken her heart doing so, and they hadn’t exactly kept in touch and.. now he’s getting engaged. The more she thought about it the more she became mad despite a part of her telling herself that she isn’t allowed to be this irritated and upset.
And by the time the day came, that voice in her mind had been numbed, and anger with a dash of betrayal was the dominant emotion. She put far too much effort into dressing up that day going through what seemed like a hundred dresses before she picked a perfect gown and paired it with diamonds. She was going to turn heads – and Corban’s was going to be one of them. When she saw him, she merely congratulated him and his precious fiancée before she walked around the party talking to several of their mutual friends. That was all he was going to get for that invitation. If he wanted a real conversation with her, he had to come to find her. @angstqueenwrites
Corban wasn’t entirely enthralled to be back home. His fiancée had all but demanded they host the party at his family home however, and since he was only marrying the girl to please his parents; he couldn’t exactly argue against it. She was pretty, but she was far too conceited and just generally rather boring. She didn’t challenge him, not like Jasmine used to. His mind flickered back to his childhood best friend, the only girl he’d genuinely ever pictured settling down with - but they’d been friends, nothing more. Falling out of touch had sucked, and before he knew it, his parents were pressuring him to get married and Sylvia was practically all but handed to him for an engagement.
He wasn’t entirely sure what possessed him to add her name to the guest list, they’d not talked in years - but Corban missed her. He wasn’t entirely sure she’d come, or if she was even in town. The second she entered the room, Corban’s eyes were drawn to her, as they always had been. She was just as gorgeous as he remembered and holy shit, he could barely take his eyes off of her. The swift congratulations she’d given him before disappearing into the crowd had stunned him, not that’d he particularly expected a warm reception. When Sylvia was distracted, Corban excused himself and slipped through the crowd to where he’d seen her. Smiling politely at an old friend she was talking to, Corban gently took hold of her elbow, guiding her towards the corner of the room. “Seriously, are you not even going to say hello, Jas? Is that really how you treat an old friend?” He mused, his eyes trailing down before he internally cursed, forcing his gaze back up to her face. It was his engagement party, after all, and she wasn’t the girl he was marrying, he had to remind himself of that.

She had more faith in him than he did in himself. And maybe she was right about him not having to be alone in this, but he knew people around him were better off if he wasn’t around them. And Celia – she definitely deserved better than what he had to offer. “I don’t need help.” he said quietly. It was a lie but he had decided he was going to tell himself that till he believed it himself. “Celia, we just can’t work. You are better off without me.”
“Maybe you don’t, but you don’t have to go at this alone, Blaise.” She told him softly. “Bullshit. It’s bullshit and you know it is. I don’t care what you think is better for me, Blaise. I know I’m love with you, and I know I want to be with you, this doesn’t change anything for me.”
