Protective Padme for the win
padme: I will Fight You Over Anakin Skywalker, Bitch
"- and the Jedi are just all war-mongering power-hungry faux monks, after all. Take Skywalker, for instance -"
"I'm sorry?" Senator Amidala says, her voice ice. "Did I mishear you? Are you calling Anakin Skywalker, the boy who saved my planet with no expectation of anything in return, who puts his life on the line again and again for the Republic, a 'war-mongering power-hungry faux monk'? I should tell him that one: he'll laugh, and still save your pathetic life anyway, because he is a good man. You are not."
Inside, Padme has frozen over, trembling with rage. How dare he. She wants to rip his face off for daring to talk ill of her husband, but for now, she will settle for killing him politically.
The Senator pales, drastically. "Senator Amidala - I didn't mean any offence -"
"Didn't you?" Senator Amidala cuts in, still cool. "Don't you dare say things like that again, or I'll put you out onto a ship to the war, and you can see how you like fighting for your life."

actually, yes in some way anidala was a very unsubtle and mutually maladjusted relationship, ill give it that. but imo this is kinda missing the big picture. you have this turbo messed up specimen of a human being whose life increasingly circles around death and violence and no matter how you turn that prophecy, he was divinely made with the purpose of killing. like even if its just destroying the sith, thats still whole life built around doing damage. his hobbies include war, being overbearing and an unmentionable amount of mommy issues. other hobbies include death defying stunts, racing (thing that was supposed to kill him as a child), mechanics (thing he was forced to do as a child on the threat of physical harm) and ominous dreams of death. like That Guy. future cyborg and number 1 cause behind the sudden onset asthma attack phenomena decimating the imperial navy. the guy who's about to start killing people and not stop until he literally fries himself killing someone. his worst actions include murder. his best actions also include murder. hes biting the hand that feeds and the hand that beats and most incriminatingly, the hand owned by his very own son. THIS is the specific individual with a secret life none of his friends & colleagues get to know abt. and his secret life is just. getting married. daydreaming abt babies and cozy family dinners. he's a general in war, he either gets blown up or blows other people up on a daily basis and this is his legal, official job but the part of his life that is unspeakable and secret is rawdogging his wife in one of those goofy ass senate pods. like ok. maybe its not the healthiest relationship but dear lord is it not the beginning, the middle or the end of anakin's problems. his life sucked ass and the single wholesome element in it was that he loved specific people and specific people loved him. maybe his murderous overreaction to padme dying had more to do with the way his padme-less existence looked like than with the concept of a relationship being bad by default. getting space vegas married was one of the few rare instances of him deciding to be a lover not a fighter, let him have it

what if i said that the way the jedi order worked might have also influenced the way Anakin-as Vader, would behave later as a warlord, what then-
The jedi order doesn't elect their council members at large, there's not elections or votes- Is only council members that elect new members. You can't deny there's a strict hiearchy amongst the jedi order. Not only that, but making sacrifices you don't agree with in order to achieve your goals for the greater good (who's making that choice? who's deciding what the greater good is? The Republic-The Council-Your Master).
Whenever someone wants to bring up how Anakin did nothing about the clones-who were slaves, when someone wants to bring up that Anakin should have left to be try and do something by himself- when someone wants to bring up that Anakin is a goddamn hypocrite for doing what he disagreed with- I need to point out that not only he was slave, but the jedi on itself works on a strong hiearchy in which Anakin felt under the peer pressure to go along with what the council wanted. Anakin and every other jedi felt forced to play into this dynamic, wether they agreed or not, and be generals leading slaves and child soldiers into war.
The idea that Anakin 'thrived' in war is so weird to me, because you're forgetting that one of his goddamn goals as Vader is to literally stop war-by any means. While Anakin was a general, this doesn't mean he had that much power; his command was only over the 501th and Ahsoka. Many Jedi, and especially Obi-Wan, had much more power in rank and over troops. Because Anakin was just a jedi knight; everyone loves to joke about how whiny and disrespectful and ungrateful and a big meme is that he isn't a master, but as soon as someone wants to point at the jedi order's flaws as an institution people absolutely forget this and want to point at him for being a hypocrite.
Anakin might complain all he wanted and would be dismissed; this isn't to mean that he didn't play a role into this, this doesn't excuse him from participating in the treatement /slavery the clones were subjected, or not trying to be more vocal over not sending literal children to war (hey! the guy that was a slave as a kid, the guy that was working as soon as he was able to walk, the guy that as a kid saw other kid's dying and exploding, has weird ideas about when to follow orders???? impossible). And this is of course not me saying Anakin was correct on murdering children, and this doesn't mean I think the jedi should have died. But be so for real right now, the jedi aren't fucking hippies, they aren't communists; they're a fictional fantasy religious order that at times works more like a cult, with a orientalist paper wrapping.
As soon as someone doesn't blame everything on Palpatine, as soon as you bring something that should be as obvious as 'the powerful religious wizards should get off of their literal ivory tower' , anakin needs to be the escape goat even when he has NOTHING to do with the conversation, even when he's just another jedi knight, that was literally knighted due to the war so he could be sent to the front as soon as he recovered from losing a limb.
Like i don't care if he's evil or a hypocrite or whiny. Is just that he can't ever win at anything because either he's not conservative and respectful enough, or he isn't radical and loud enough, pick a side at the very least.
"The jedi didn't want a war" Awesome, that's....the bare minimum? In the movies against war, in the movies where the main hero defeated evil by throwing away his lightsaber, chosing love and going against his master, you would think the jedi order chosing to engage into a war and lead slave soldiers because they got too used to be close to power, should be a given! But nope uhh a-a-anakin>:((((((( he's a murdered, he probably loves to send children to war for shit and giggles!!! And he should have done more for the clones because h-he was a slave and he should know better!>:(((( Yeah, probably! But probably the jedi should have done more in general as well! Probably the fact he was raised into this strict hierarchy after being freed made him realize he needs to play into a dynamic he isn't comfortable with!
And then as vadeer he's a fucking crazy evil monster that behaves coldly and does what he deems necessary to bring that damned peace because he's obsessed with stopping violence- through violence, it makes no sense. As much as the keepers of peace making concessions and leading an army of slaves to war makes no sense.
T-the jedi had not choice:(((( but to send:(((( children:(((( to war:(((( Are you listening to yourself.
And if you really want to debate. They were fine with death penalty, as they were going to execute Ahsoka, a 15 years old, and Palpatine didn't have his hand on this, btw. I wonder if this had an impact of Anakin's already turbo-messed-up mentality. I wonder.
and again, THEY DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE KILLED.
okay, bye that's all -drops the mic-

who is lenore dove, beyond haymitch's girl?
she's the last living generation of covey, someone who is watching her culture being actively eradicated. she is the last songbird. her aunt survived the hunger games, but it is a secret. she knows too much. she wants to yap about her knowledge to the world, but it is too dangerous.
she is raised by her uncles. she has another uncle who can never ever be officially part of the family. everywhere she looks, she is met with oppression
she loves geese
she is reserved. she can sing, but does not like crowds. she can hold a grudge, and loves her uncles fiercely. she doesn't like maysilee for disrespecting tam amber's craft.
she likes philosophy. she likes things that are pretty and functional. her clothes contain scraps of dead women's clothes. she is so, so angry. and yet so, so compassionate.
she is compassionate. she cares for her boyfriend's little brother. she tries and helps a grieving mother, not considering the danger, because she finds the risk acceptable. she is almost killed for it.
she is reckless and fiery. she is hopeful, even as she dies. she is bitter and resentful at the status quo. she has the time to chafe at it. one of the only covey to never travel the roads. she knows a better world is possible and yearns for it.
she is a fighter and a lover. she likes being outside. she has a sweet tooth. she is creative and witty - see the will. she will burn herself if the world burns with her, but not the ones she loves.
she is sixteen.
she has character, she is not a manic pixie dream girl. but I guess appreciating her requires more than the two seconds of thought most people give her

Apparently there’s a “kids shouldn’t be allowed in grocery stores” thing being spread on TikTok because they might scream or run around and look yeah that’s annoying but at a certain point you’ve gotta just put up with kids being a little annoying in public. Sure the kid pouring milk in the isles is the fault of a shitty parent and should be asked to leave, but a single mom with an otherwise controlled by crying toddler isn’t doing anything wrong. I think you’ll live if someone’s two year old starts screaming in their arms in isle 3. It might be annoying but that mom is probably having a worse day than you

Not just any child, but a traumatized child slave turned unaccompanied child refugee whose mother has been left behind as a slave in a planet ran by the mob. It's clear by their goodbye scene that neither Anakin nor Shmi believe the Jedi will free her ( they are correct) . This means Anakin at the council chamber scene has had only a few days at the age of nine to come to terms with never seeing his only parent and family member again. The council treated him in an awful way.
people will literally turn to any source but the actual films to prop up their 'the jedi no attachment rule was good and healthy actually' and refuse to engage with a core premise of the phantom menace that yoda, the head of the jedi, tells a child missing his mum that is inherently wrong, actually

I am mostly focusing on the fact that you CAN'T join the PT era Jedi Order. Either your parents or other guardians will make that decision to give you up ( which is quite unclear on how freely it is made) when you are too young to have any memories of anything else or the Jedi don't want you. They made that clear in TPM in front of the little child slave turned unaccompanied child refugee. It was a pretty big plot point.
'I would love to join the jedi order!'
strike 1 joining the jedi order is not a choice you could make as an adult, they thought a 9 year old was too old in TPM
'people regulate their emotions and communicate with each other logically' nothing says emotional regulation like obi-wan and anakin in AOTC
'no nuclear pressure' but instead there's pressure to have no attachments, close friends, family WHATSOEVER it's the extreme opposite and is Not Good particularly for humans, A Notoriously Social Species
'you can just help people with no strings attached' lmao the jedi are SO beholden to the senate and their mandates. it is a KEY plot point across the PT. remember when padme was like: 'hey can you actually like investigate the assassin and not just protect me, I have my own protection detail???' and the jedi were like, 'no'. lmfao.
'caring and respectful community that accepts me as who I am' *points at anakin skywalker, who was isolated and rejected from this seemingly 'loving community' for being a slave*
'being able to do whatever I want career wise' yeah no.
anyway I saw that post again which acts like the jedi were this idealistic utopian society which they were fucking not as per the actual fucking films jesus christ at least admit that this is fanon

Thinking again about the fact that Ethan never told Ilsa he was married and had retired before. Because I feel like it would recast Ilsa’s entire perception of his inability to quit and run away with her - where before she probably interprets it as an issue of his own sense of duty & obligation, his own desires not aligning with hers, maybe some personal rejection thrown in there…. but no Ethan has tried to retire before, he’s tried to have a life and dedicated loving relationship outside of work, and it completely destroyed Julia’s life and almost got both of them killed, so actually Ethan had already just reached the conclusion Ilsa does in Fallout (“we are never free”) years and years ago…. It’s not that he doesn’t want to it’s that he knows it’s not possible…. but he doesn’t tell Ilsa any of that, maybe because he doesn’t want to crush that same hope in her or because it’s too painful to ever bring up or whatever else, but no matter what she’s left feeling both closer and further away from him because they do in fact have the same wants and desires, it’s just that in this rare case it’s actually Ethan who is more jaded and cynical than Ilsa
