A buddie clothing analysis of 8x09 and season 8 untill now!!!

this season we see a change in their styles, as expected for this new moment of their lives. Buck discovered a new part of himself, he's experimenting more. And Eddie is the opposite, he's sad, and feeling alone. So while Buck puts himself out in the world, Eddie hides himself.

buck wears a lot of colors and prints: light pink, blue, green, light grey, stripes. he's more happy, more light. his style changes after he comes out, he's making more bold choices in terms of styling, and we also see him in more hoodies, when he wants to hides a little.

eddie wears more neutral colors this season: black, white, browns, beige,dark green/grey. bc he's not happy, he doesn't wanna draw attention to himself, the only time he uses a color is light pink in the dance scene, where he's more vunerable, and free and happy.

in 8x09 i think the choice of clothing for both of them says a lot about how they're feeling.

buck in a pink cardigan: vunerable, romance, femmine, pink alleviates feeling of abandoment and neglect. it's also friendliness. that's when he hears eddie saying he has no ties, and get hurt. the choice of the fabric also add softness.

eddie wearing brown: sense of comfort, stability, grounded, it's also a safe color. he wants to show to the renters, that he is all of that.

now this last scene is a direct parallel to the scene where buck comes out to eddie, they are wearing the same colors, but there are a few changes.

buck is in a blue jeans jacket, black t-shirt and blue cargo pants, they match.

eddie wears dark grey shirt (also jeans), beige cargo pants and brown jacket: all neutral tones, the pants are more adventurous, but the outfit it's not so cohesive.

the last time we see eddie wearing a pop of color is when chris leaves.

these are my opinions and analysis as a fashion designer, i love how you can communicate a lot with clothes!!

The sound of the cork popping, takes Buck out of his head, he was still thinking about how he got in the situation. Sure he had agreed to this whole fake dating thing, and had spent the last two days flirting with his best friend. But now, he finds himself alone in a room with Eddie, who’s pouring champagne into glasses; Eddie who forty minutes ago said that was looking forward to celebrating tonight while had his hand on Buck’s thigh, kissing the corner of his mouth; Eddie who Buck had said was taking him to bed tonight.

“Eddie, we are really doing this?” Buck asks, wrapping an arm around Eddie’s waist.

“I hope so, cause I want you so bad baby.”

- or: Buck forgets he had booked a couple trip with Tommy, for their six months anniversary, and Eddie offers to pretend that he is Buck's boyfriend instead. It turns out, they don't need to pretend that much.
