Reflecting on AE1 when animal testing was the chosen subject within the assignment, taking information from an article from the business of fashion shows one particular part of animal welfare within the fashion industry that needs more advertisement and awareness which is fur being used from animals to produce garments and accessories for a wide variety of brands. “From auctions to activists, BoF goes inside the $40 billion fur industry’s relationship with fashion.”
From AE1 the main focus was on animal testing and companies that are for and companies that are against animal testing and believe that animals rights are important and they shouldn't be bought into this world for a fur coat in a store or a pair of leather shoes walking down the run way, millions of animals are killed just so the public can have their high quality fashion every year.
Stella McCartney is an inspiration as, as a designer she refuses to use real leather and fur and is a part of PETA. need to give the public/consumers/brands and companies the awareness they need so they can make an informed decision whether they want to buy/sell leather and fur. No one should tell you what to wear but everyone needs to have a clear understanding of what fur and leather is and where it comes from and how it gets from an animal to a fur jacket and then ask the question.
- RAISE AWARNESS
- DONT TELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY CAN AND CANT BUY BUT INFORM THEM SO THEY CAN MAKE A DECESION.
“Leather is not a buy product it is the most important co product of the meat industry”
the video shows the harsh reality of the fashion industry that uses fur and leather and where it comes from.

This video shows Broadly Meets Stella McCartney in Harrods.
FUR FREE FUR-
Campaign by Stella McCartney- promoting the fact that the fashion industry uses fur but it is so unnecessary. promoting Faux Fur and showing the better animal free option which will still have the same pros for example keeping on trend and keeping warm in the winter season. wear your own skins not animal skin.
Looks like leather but isn't leather- showing that fashion doesn't need to be an animal product. Manufactured in Italy.

Animals are bread to then be killed for fur and leather.
- Caged in small confined spaces
- De horned, Skinned etc without any medical treatment
- Very little food and water.
- Millions of animals dye every year for the fashion industry.

The image above shows the animals caged in wire. Animals being bread for the fashion industry are made to live like this living on hardly any food and water and being kept in such small spaces, DOES THIS MAKE YOU STILL WANT TO INVEST IN FUR AND LEATHER.
