Percy: She’s super fake. All “we can’t be friends” because of some beef between our parents or whatever. But guess who is first in line to tag along the second I get my quest!?

Piper: …..you had a quest? When you were 12? Who allowed that?

Percy: The entire time she was so mean. “I don’t want to be seen on the love ride with you, Percy” and “don’t send Medusa’s head to the gods, Percy.” Like. What did I even do to you?

Piper: This was not the meet cute I was expecting

canon fics where we actually let the characters process their trauma that never fail to fuck me up:

Stress Fractures by Lleavingwonderland  -  short but really poetic and beautifully written look at percabeth dealing with the aftermath of tartarus

Impossible Year by @bananannabeth - annabeth breaks up with percy bc she thinks it will help them heal after tartarus, angsty but in the best way *chefs kiss*

Flaws by Romanitas - post tartarus again bc i can’t help myself, just some really good percabeth dealing with their trauma and figuring out how to help each other

transatlanticism by @nerdylizj - post tartarus percabeth separating and then finding their way back to each other, pretty sure this fic has fucked me up more than anything else I’ve ever read. it really left me vaguely sad for DAYS after I finished it, it’s that well written and that good.

Lessons in Love by @ananbeth - percy and annabeth move in together in college and find out it’s not as smooth sailing as they assumed it would be! really well written and really in character!

until your feet hit the floor by @bipercabeth - an ideal world where we actually let percy process the events of tlo and annabeth comforts him, this one honestly lives in my head rent free to this day

Aftermath by Roselightfairy - did you read blood of olympus and think that it was odd that percabeth was so sidelined? or that a bunch of things that they did didn’t make sense? this fic honestly fixes everything. it goes through the entire last book in that series and gives us percy and annabeth’s perspectives in a way that allows you to pretend that book made sense. it’s magic!

AUs that are good for the soul:

Apartment 305 by @couvers - starting with the most iconic of all AUs I’ve ever read! College AU where the perspective switches from Piper to Annabeth chapter to chapter, and somehow we’re over 100 chapters in and I’m still just as hooked as I was at the beginning! Amy also updates with this superhuman posting schedule, and my weeks are literally measured out by which days we get apartment 305 updates. So worth the read!

when the sun came up (you were looking at me) by TheWritingManiac - mortal AU where annabeth breaks up with percy and wakes up stuck in a time loop the next day, this one is a real journey and an absolute banger

beautiful by xogray @bbyannabeth  - coffee shop au where percy is deaf and annabeth learns sign language for him, the vibes are so sweet, it’s immaculate

gravity in the words we write by JillianEmily - the high school fake dating au to end all high school fake dating aus, I loved this one sm

A Second Chance by @percabethica - AU where percy never came back from calypso’s island, the titans won the war, and annabeth became luke’s right hand...until percy turns out to be alive and takes annabeth with him to join the resistance. I’m actually OBSESSED with this one, seriously on the edge of my seat waiting for updates

Merry Chrysler by @ananbeth and @blackjacktheboss - percy goes home with annabeth to visit her family for the holidays, and ends up pretending to be her boyfriend. I’m a slut for any fake dating christmas AU but this one is next level

Love Me, Won’t You also by @ananbeth and @blackjacktheboss - high school romeo & juliet AU that...idk if I can put into words how absolutely iconic this one is. they made a whole ass WORLD for this fic, where annabeth and percy come from two families who hate each other and live on a small island in greece. it’s got the most realistic enemies to lovers I’ve probably ever read, it has some really cool ways that tie the canon into the story, and there’s secret dating, it literally has everything you could want. 

Riptide by @blackjacktheboss - am I just obsessed with @blackjacktheboss? yes absolutely. this one is a superhero AU that’s got a really interesting premise that ties back to the canon really well, it’s got great action and romance, and it’s fucking hilarious! like don’t try to read this in class or something bc you’ll bust out laughing. and then somehow within the same fic there’s also a ton of really beautiful and heartfelt moments, just all around incredible!

if i were to pluck on your heartstrings by @seaweedbraens - soulmate AU (which, if you like soulmate AU’s check out this author, there are so many really good soulmate AUs that I actually had a hard time only listing one on this) where different colored strings connect you to the important people in your life. I don’t want to spoil it by explaining anymore but this one is GOOD okay just go read it right now!

Afraid to Light the Fuse Again by Ms_Understood94 - this one is an AU of the Black Mirror episode Hang the DJ, and I couldn’t stop reading it, even though I thought I knew everything going in, it was a really fun ride!

good god i know it's dangerous (but it's you that i need) by @biclarisselarue - 🗣️  IT’S THE OFFICE RIVALS AU  🗣️ I honestly can’t get enough of this one - percy and annabeth are office rivals who turn into friends (enemies?) with benefits, and the whole thing is just *chefs kiss* I can’t recommend this one enough, honestly.
