Finally had a warm enough day to get out and walk at the park over the weekend and got to see the frozen waterfall.
Fall and winter have always been my favorite seasons but I admit, the winter storms we’ve had made me long for spring and sunny days. The waterfall is really cool looking though.

I’d seen something last year about measuring the passage of time in quarantine - “there are days packages arrive and days packages do not arrive.”
Feels accurate. So today, a package arrived with some books I’d ordered - hurray! But, I also just picked up a few books I had on hold with the library earlier this week so now I have many books to read and I wish the world or time would slow so I can just lay around and eat and read them.
But these are good problems to have. Already started on Wild Seed by Octavia Butler. Do you read more than one book at a time? I generally do not but may give it a try. One for morning, one for evening? We’ll see how it goes.
I just finished “I’m still here” by Austin Channing Brown and absolutely loved it. May post about that too but yesterday, witnessing what unfolded at the capital threw me off my game (to say the least). Still digesting and thinking... hope you are safe and well and able to hang on to hope in the midst of the world continuing to burn around us.

A few favorite books from 2020.
Looking forward to discovering much more and continuing to explore outside my fantasy comfort zone, even though I can’t say no to Holly Black.
Biggest surprise - The Switch (and also, The Flatshare) by Beth O’Leary. I’d have sworn these would not be my type of books but my bitter, skeptical heart loved every feel good word.
Not pictured but also enjoyed:
Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book echoed so much of what I felt and feared in quarantine. Didn’t seem like it would be but this book was actually a comfort during some very dark days.
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. A slow burn but worth being patient for. Weird, twisty, scary and very satisfying.

I want to walk through life in really nice shoes! And also, stop allowing what other people might think, say, etc. to stand in the way. And since I love some Alexis Rose, wise woman that she is, let this be my mantra for the new year in 2021.
Nobody cares, David.
