So jelly and upset I can't join this year's exhibtion

The Wiolators collective are back. I’ll be exhibiting a new video in the upcoming Wiolators exhibition in Reykjavik on the 8th of August 2015. 

Some info on the upcoming work - (Currently untitled) A film made by proxy: 3 members of the Wiolators collective become Manchurian Candidates to Christopher in London who sends filming instructions to the Wiolators in Reykjavik. The act of filming can implicate both the subject and the object, agency is removed from the camera person and placed squarely in the hands of the instructor - by removing power from the observer we are left with voyeurism with clandestine intentions.  About The Wiolators and the upcoming show - Wiolators: Reykjavík Edition Wiolators is an international artists collective, formed in 2011 in the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam. Now the group is split all over Europe but keeps in touch by exhibiting annually in the country of different members.  Last year it was Blackpool (UK), this year it’s Reykjavík.  The Iceland Edition revolves around 3 members of the Wiolators in Reykjavík, who are working for the absent members to help create and finish their works.  The end result will be works that relate to being an absent tourist.

The exhibition opens 8th of August at 15 o´clock and runs until August 21st.@ Kunstschlager Stofa, Reykjavík Art Museum, Tryggvagata, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland.

Curator Maura Reilly posted an image of gallery gender statistics on Facebook today, a “report card” by anonymous feminist art collective Pussy Galore showing the percentages of women represented by some of the top art galleries in New York City. The card is shown alongside its model: a piece by the Guerrilla Girls (also an anonymous feminist art collective) from 29 years ago, which similarly tallied the number of women represented by top New York galleries at the time.

I recall in the mid-’90s the television providing some of the same information so quickly found on the internet today — from the news to the weather to stock market prices to airport times, the bulky box in my grandmother’s apartment in Singapore relayed to us scores of information through a service known as teletext, which ceased to exist in the country as of last September.
