Also when you say “Let women do what they want,” that means not combing through the internet to sic your 20K followers after people criticizing how, as a broad institution, rockstars do not value women as equals or value their creative abilities. Instead of dating female artists or women who are successful in the music industry, rockstars typically date models or influencers 10-20 years younger who will stay home, spend most of their time on cosmetic enhancement, and/or raise their children.

Doubly so with rockstars with a documented history of misogyny and violent behavior towards women. 

It also means not combing through the internet to sic your 20K followers on women who are uncomfortable with said rockstars heavily pushing messages about young women deepthroating middle aged men, calling middle aged men daddy, being treated like a toy, et cetera while wearing panties and toddler tutus onstage. 

AND it goes triply so when Fall Out Boy are a band with a song title that is a joke about how difficult it is to sleep with ugly or fat women. 

This isn’t even a new conversation. Everyone already had this conversation with Melanie Martinez a decade ago.

the craziest part of this is that i hadn't even tweeted about it myself, i was just responding to someones question when they asked me why i have problems with gerard way. all i said was that i find it frustrating how some fans act like he and frank were these crazy heroic activists for gay people when all they did was pander to their audience once they were already famous enough that they knew it wouldn't get them in trouble anyways. i even said i have nothing against gerard fans, he just kind of pisses me of himself. and i STILL find it super frustrating when people are like that about the stage gay stuff that gerard and frank were doing. like, yeah, it was somewhat cool the few times they did it before they were a huge famous band, because they were going against this idea of hypermasculinity and heteronormativity in the scene, but they were nowhere NEAR the first people to do that, and they did nowhere NEAR as much as so many other artists.
