“Yes and just what can I do for you?” he directed to the presence he could sense approaching, he’d been out of town for the briefest time only to deal with a few things that the original was only going to ever call business. Though now he was back he had every expectation that his problems were too.

The previous evening had gone by in an instant at least until it dawned on him that regardless of the notions he put in place, his brother would always find a way around them of course one complication had been eliminated via a heart extraction...not his finest moment but needed none the less.
As he approached his car, his eyes landed on the individual before him “Yes, how can I help?”

HIS INSIGHT IS INTERESTING , something she’s thankful for at an event like this. “ you’re probably right , ” elena says , reminding herself of how important the customs surrounding the founding families have always been to their town. knowing the true history of the town means having to tarnish them in a way that isn’t reversible. still , elena values honesty above things like that. “ if it were my decision , though , i would tell people the truth. even if i don’t get to be part of a noble founding family , ” she emphasizes her last words with a joking tone , finding it easier to be playful than serious when they’re already at such a fancy event. at his comments about her teacher , she laughs a bit. “ i wonder if he even knows the truth. i mean , you’re doing history stuff here to learn more about the town , right? maybe you can outsmart him soon , ” she points out. “ i’m sure you’ll find that in mystic falls , everything is about structure here. is it just you two in town? i don’t think i’ve met anyone else with an accent like yours apart from rebekah. ”
He certainly was right, granted he had known the inner workings of places like Mystic Falls so his knowledge was a matter of first hand experience. “That perhaps proves you are far better than some of those that would rather live a lie, candor is a find trait.” he added more as a compliment than anything else, he appreciated honesty it was often the basis for his trust in a person offering a warm smile at the thought. “If I come across him i’d be happy to do so.” Elijah admitted with a grin before his features soon dropped to barely a smile. “No there’s three more of us and the youngest died when we were children...in an accident of course.” he had not yet mentioned Freya in that line up because he was not sure yet how he felt regarding her.

She couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. Imagining the glass slipper scenario would be a fun evening for the werewolf to enjoy from the corner. “ You seem like the kind of person who would search for the right fit. ” He seemed kind enough, nothing like the kind of men she had come across during the years she had been on her own. That was reason enough for Hayley to be kind back. “ I am Hayley by the way. ”
“Ah perhaps...” he gave a slight chuckle at the thought, Elijah certainly knew that he appeared to be that type and in comparison to the rest of the family perhaps he did happen to be just that. “Elijah, lovely to meet you Hayley.” he gave a small warm smile as he looked toward her.

SURELY IT WAS A TALENT IN ITSELF, knowing when to act on something and when to sit back and bide their time. for now, celeste opted for the latter as she knew to act on anything in this moment would be brash and foolish. these were two things that she was not. so she sat, or rather in this case stood, as she observed the crowd of party goers hoping that this night would give her a broader insight into the inner-workings of mystic falls. after all, the new orleans witch was in new territory and the whispers on the mikaelsons lurking around had served to peak her interests to say the least. glass of wine in hand, the woman stood confidently on the sidelines as she twirled the contents within her glass, occasionally taking a sip. the tales of this town were well known and she was certain that an event like this would only promise to draw a rather eccentric crowd, as from experience they always did. if anything, it was just a simple matter of who these said people would be and what potential benefits she may gain from their company. “i suppose i see it, the charm that draws people to this place, the history that ties people together” she mused aloud to anyone that may have been listening in a manner that would lead one to believe that she actually believed the bullshit that she was spewing. “ then again, it could just be an excuse to throw a party, fraternize and get drunk depending on how you look at it.”
One of the many decent traits of the original happened to be his calculating nature, one that on many occasions stopped him from acting out impulsively when perhaps emotions would wish for him to do so. It was perhaps something that had led him to be an observer now: watching from the sidelines as if to keep an eye on those his brother would surely have doing his dirty work...and as long as they did not step out of line he would not step in. “I would suspect both, though with the recent death of one of the towns own...I imagine that has something to do with it.” he replied irregardless of whether the females words had been directed towards him, his sister was perhaps correct in that he needed to branch out if he was to keep their cover. “I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure of meeting...-” he held out his hand. “I’m Elijah.”

Putting on a nice dress and attending a fancy gala had nothing to do with Hayley. She would often run away from events like this, usually an outcast of an elitist society. Her arrival in Mystic Falls however had a purpose and coming to the Founder’s Ball could help her get closer to that same goal. Everyone important would be there and every supernatural as well. Hayley was not oblivious to the darker side of the small town and she wanted to take advantage of that in order to find someone who could tell her information about her family.
With a glass of champagne on her hand ( fancy enough aren’t we? ), she approached the person near her. “ So is this usual around this town? Fancy galas and Disney princesses gathered to find their prince in a white horse? ”
It was unsurprising at this point to find a person or two who happened to be the type who preferred less formal events, though that came with the territory and the year. Luckily Elijah appreciated the honesty, it was far better to be honest than lie about wanting to be there.
“Unfortunately, though I believe you missed the part about the glass slipper.” he added, only doing so to appear warm and human-ish for the sake of appearances.

it was well into the night when valeria and the pack showed up and they almost were turned away from the event entirely - it made things much easier that they weren’t. what better way was there to scope out their new town than to go to the ball where seemingly everyone who’s anyone is in attendance? now all that was left to do was to mingle, which seemed simple enough. she enjoyed socializing and getting to know people; the different backgrounds, and things that people have gone through in their lives, it made them all interesting. everyone had their own story, and she appreciated that. “so, what’s your favorite thing about mystic falls?” she questioned to a stranger. obviously no one would know the best things about the town better than those who live here.
As if he would ever forget the face of the wolf who had killed his youngest brother so long ago and had this been a less public event he would be sure to show his disdain far more openly than he was currently able instead the original was happy to share nothing but sarcasm with one of the enemies he would happily see dead.
“Well , moments ago it was the simple fact that it remained free of such hollow and vile creatures...-though I suppose nothing ever does last.”

a small hum left her lips as she made her way around the room, the people of mystic falls sure knew how to throw a party. at the sound of a voice, cami turned, a small laugh leaving her lips as she raised her glass to her lips. “the free alcohol makes it even better.” the blonde smiled slightly, lifting her dress up slightly to walk. “it makes it baseball that I need to wear this stupidly expensive dress.”
He gave a shrug of his shoulders, evidently continuing to lead with the facade of playing himself as human as he could manage granted he was unsurprised so many felt as if they did not fit or in turn felt out of place at a ball like this. “Well the stupidly expensive dress looks rather good on you if that is any consolation.”

“Lovely but kind of a drag.” Marcel responded lazily, to the Original allowing his eyes to roam the room once before letting them fall back to Elijah. As far as things went with this brother Marcel had always been on the fence.
“And hello to you Marcellus..” he hummed as an attempt to mask the growing frustrations that were born from yet another splinter in the woodwork when it came to his plans against his brother. There had been a time when he had cared for the man greatly, of course he was a boy then and he steered him away in yet another attempt at achieving his brothers redemption which all seemed incredibly futile now. “To what do I owe the pleasure.” though he was sure he could figure out the answer.

“Lovely is a… word to describe it,” she casually responded, side-eyeing the man and letting up a bit, with the smallest quirk of her lips. “You like these kinds of events? Fancy parties? I don’t go to a lot of them, really. Never been the fanciest of girls,” she lied with a casual hum. “You look nice, though,” she tacked on, smiling, then. “Very lovely.”
He gave a slight shrug of his head, acting as warm as he allowed himself to be in the midst of playing someone far more human than he was. “Unfortunately so, it frees me from my work and my thoughts.” Elijah admitted to the female, raising a slight brow. “Thank you and for a woman who claims to not attend events like this, you certainly look amazing.”

SHE DOESN’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT the town’s history aside from what she was told at school and at events such as these , so elijah’s comments intrigue her. “ well , as someone whose part of s supposed founding family , i don’t know why they don’t tell us that. ” being part of a founding family was , and continues to be , a big deal in town , but she’s never felt as though it made her more special than anyone else. “ you should talk to the teachers at my school about that , actually. mr. tanner thinks he knows everything. ” elena nods as he explains their backstory , evidently believing all of it. “ really? what made you want to come to mystic falls? i mean , other than the inaccurate history facts. ”
“I assume their answer would rely on things such as the foundation of the town, though as with most things people don’t like to admit to such things since that would in turn bring about change.” And most people living a human life did not life such things whether or not they knew of the truth behind a story. Listening to the doppelganger only placed a small smile across the originals lips, the description of her teacher reminded him of quite a few people he knew. “Perhaps, I mean there is the saying about knocking people down a few pegs and your teacher certainly sounds like he needs it...-I also quite like doing so. I suppose it works out perfectly for all parties involved.” he joked slightly.
“Believe it or not we’d like to settle, find a structure once more....Mystic Falls-however inaccurate the history-offers that.” the settling part was not untrue though admittedly that would come after his brothers demise.

“As my brother is prone to doing, though sadly as always he only remains correct about half of said opinions..being that we are certainly a calculating species and there are few of us that can be trusted.” He would admit that much though as for them all being bad, it was subjective;there were bad people among every species. “I’m sure he doesn't and if he does...well i’ll allow him to complain about yet another thing over family dinner.” a joke of sorts.
He gave a small smile and a nod as he began to walk toward the entrance of the Lockwood home, “Dare I ask if you have spoken to that relative of yours?” referring to Bonnie.

“elijah,” she repeated with a small laugh, hands crossing against her chest as she spoke. “the noble one, right?” head turned, eyes glistening as she eyed the other. “should we be worried?” it was in reference to - well, why the entire original family was in town. she hadn’t had many (if any) run ins with them before, but something seemed like it wasn’t just a quick family reunion.
“That is what they tell me...-” of course he was, and granted the only one of his family with enough morals as to not lash out unless there was a need to do so. “If it is up to me. No not at all, though I can only control my siblings so much.”

his response was not appreciated, nor was it well-received. “special vampire my ass,” they hissed, releasing his arm upon request but not backing down. they’d been taught how to kill vampires their entire life. when you do it right, they were supposed to stay down. was it perhaps stupid to confront a vampire like this, maybe, but of course avery wasn’t going to react rationally to those who defy the laws, twice. besides, he wouldn’t rip their heart out in the middle of the ball. if there was a confrontation later, they would be prepared and they wouldn’t fail this time. “i killed you. you were dead. tell me how you’re not anymore.”
“Yes I have been dead for some time now....-though do not make me repeat myself.” Elijah spoke in his usual stoic warning, he had little fear of anything anymore the only real thing that could do anything to him was a dagger and all that did was put him to sleep in a box. “I have already answered your question, it is you that refuses to accept the answer.”

SHE CHUCKLES TO HERSELF , pausing between his words and her next ones. " really? better in what way? ” elena asks with another smile , eyebrows raised. there’s a sense of formality in him that she can’t say she’s ever come across before , but it’s a comforting one. she doesn’t know much about him , and with such an air of mystery surrounding their family , it’s hard not to wonder what their story is. “ you know , i never got to ask you , where’s your family from? ”
It did seem that the longer he spent with the girl, it became obvious that she possessed many of the qualities he had admired long before he and his siblings had been turned though he did little to forget of the past mistakes caring for the doppelganger had created. “Well for one the parties I usually attend are built on truths...-you see in my work for the historical society I have come to discover that the founding families did not found anything there is evidence to suggest that the area was actually settled almost a full two centuries earlier .” He added, granted he knew from living in such a time though he could not exactly admit to such things instead simply offering a smile. “Our parents were English, they migrated when myself and our siblings were children....we never settled too long in one area. I suppose this is about the first time in a long while that we have all been in one area together.” it was nothing but a calculated lie but needed.

“olivia parker, “ she reached out her hand to grab his, shaking it during the introduction. she knew who the other was, but decided not to question it more than she had to.
“It is lovely to meet you Miss Parker...-” the original added, he was not one to miss much and in this case the same applied. “I assume you already know who I am.”

» @anoblexfacadex - ELIJAH & AVERY ! ✧
avery had had their eyes on him for awhile now. perhaps confronting a vampire they had literally staked in the heart wasn’t the most rational idea, but what was rationality when a vampire they’d literally staked in the heart was clearly alive? besides, a public, formal setting automatically provided a shield for avery. and they were angry, and confused, and kind of questioning everything right now. so of course they decided to march through the crowd towards him, and tug on his arm not exactly gently to get his attention without yelling and/or making a scene. “do you want to tell me how the hell you’re walking around right now?”
The original had to remind himself not to tear out the hunters heart that second, granted they had been no more than a nuisance in causing a delay on his plans for the day but it seemed far more foolish on their part to once again find themselves in front of him. “Hello there. I’m Elijah. I happen to be a special vampire...-” he spoke in a rather sarcastic way. “Now I suggest you let go of my arm...you’ve proven to be a nuisance once...it is best not to annoy me further; that or I will happily tear out your heart.”
