You mentioned the phrase “quantum entanglement” in the fic entanglement and it reminded me of my favorite game of all time outer wilds and if you have any interest in space/ exploration/ indirect storytelling I highly recommend it

That sounds like such a neat game! Alas, I've never been much of a game girly. When I have free time, I always find myself reaching for a book instead. But this does sound super cool and makes me wish my brain enjoyed video games.

I'm slowly working my way through editing The Line (i.e. the WinterShieldShock fic). I have the first 8 chapters almost entirely in order. They just need one more review from me. I'll be working on chapters 9-20 this weekend (hopefully). I should be in a comfortable enough spot by then to begin posting. You'll get the first two chapters back-to-back since the first chapter is short and I wouldn't do that to you lovely people.

“How do you feel about Bucky being in the room with us?” he asked, still holding her face so she couldn’t look away. Darcy answered honestly when she said, “I like it.” “How much?” “A lot.” “Good,” he whispered before releasing his hold on her jaw. She watched his hand drop down so he could drag the tips of his fingers up her bare thigh revealed by the slit in the dress. “You have a closet full of sexy dresses you use to tease guys like me?” “Nope. This was bought specifically with the two of you in mind. I only do custom seduction.” He chuckled and laid his palm on her leg, digging her fingers and thumb into it gently. “Hmm, must be how you’ve got us both going out of our minds.” “Do I?” “Don’t play dumb, now.” “Bucky seems like he’s got it together.” Steve squeezed her leg. “He doesn’t. That’s why he had to leave the room.” “I’m not afraid of him,” she said. “I think he knows that. But he’s afraid of himself, and he’s afraid of you, too.” Darcy scoffed. “I’m not scary.” “You are. In a way.” He slid his hand higher on her thigh. She rolled her eyes at him and huffed out a soft laugh. “Are you scared of me, Steve?” He looked up to meet her gaze. “Little bit,” he whispered before flashing her the flirtiest smile she’d ever seen while he watched her through his lashes. Darcy laughed softly and looked away. “Shut up.” “Can I walk you home?” “All the way to the floor below us? I think I can make it on my own.” “I know you can. But can I walk you home anyway?” After the emotional rollercoaster of a day, that was what finally got her, what finally made her steady breath catch in her throat. Darcy diverted her eyes to the wall opposite him, hiding whatever emotions were on her face that she couldn’t seem to control. “You don’t have to.” “I want to, Darcy.” “You know, I’ll still want to have hot sex with you in front of your best friend even if you don’t walk me home.” Steve stood up and held out his hand to her. She looked from it to his face before reaching up and taking it. It wasn’t fair that he was that hot and that sexy, but still a nice guy who made her feel like he cared. It was a dangerous combination.

I added a 27th chapter to The Line. The fic is now over 160,000 words. I've reviewed and edited the first 15 chapters based on beta feedback. I've gone through the first 5 chapters with my next-to-last edit. I'll be working on chapters 6-15 over the course of the work week, and then I'll start on 15-27 this coming weekend.

I'm still on schedule to begin posting around the 25th of the month. I'll post an other excerpt from the fic in a few days. See you soon, and here is the song that inspired the title of the fic.

The Line (aka my WinterShieldShock fic) has been proofed and all 26 chapters are in the hands of a couple lovely betas who are spending their time making it better. I'll begin my larger edit this weekend. That should take a little over a week, depending on how much time I have during the work week to chip away at it. I should still be on track to post the first couple chapters around August 25th. I'm giving you two immediately because the first is a bit of a prologue. I'll pop in here with another update and a link to another song that inspired parts of the fic in a few days.

The first draft of The Line (aka my WinterShieldShock WIP) is complete! It's just over 157,000 words and 26 chapters. I'll be working on editing over the next couple weeks. I should be ready to begin post it to AO3 around the 25th of the month, give or take a day or three.

I'll share more about the story, a little graphic/cover I made, and another excerpt here while I'm working on it. For now, I'm taking the rest of the night off because writing 157,000 words in 6 weeks is exhausting, ya'll.

Excerpt: The Line (WinterShieldShock) WIP

I finished chapter 23 tonight. We're at 140,000 words. I think I can wrap it up in 3 more chapters. I hope to have those three chapters written by this time next week. Then it will be a matter of editing. I still think I'll be able to begin posting it in sometime the last week of August.

She watched Steve look down at the table like he was gathering his courage. When he lifted his gaze back up to her, he said, “Bucky and I were wondering if you wanted to come over to our place and spend some time with us.”

Steve looked so earnest and so serious that Darcy didn’t know what to make of his question. After running through possibilities in her mind, she said, “Spend time with you doing what? Do you need a guide to the 21st century or something? Somebody to curate music and movies and pop culture tidbits to get you both up to speed?”

“We could use that, but it isn’t exactly what we had in mind.”

She narrowed her eyes at him, getting the feeling that he was talking about what she’d initially dismissed as wishful thinking. Was she in the Twilight Zone? “What did you have in mind, exactly?”

Steve shifted around in the chair as he switched legs, crossing the other ankle over the opposite knee. “Well, Bucky is interested in exploring things, but he’s not comfortable with most people and not great with touching. We were talking about it and…” Steve trailed off and gave her a contrite smile. “I’m sorry, Darcy. I—I don’t want this to come off as disrespectful, and I don’t want you to feel pressured into anything.” The high points of his cheeks were flushed a rosy red.

“Are you seriously asking me what I think you’re asking me?” she said, wondering if her face was as red as his or if she’d gone pale at the prospect of Steve Rogers arranging for her to make out and/or have sex with Bucky Barnes.

“Are you mad?”

“Not exactly. I’m…shocked. But, like, can you clarify what you’re asking? Because I feel like this is slightly insane.”

Steve’s jaw tightened and he looked down at the table again, mustering more courage. His gaze still on the tabletop, he spit out the question he’d been dancing around. “We wanted to know…Would you want to come over and have sex with me while Bucky watches?” He lifted his gaze up to catch hers, his blue eyes difficult to look away from.

“Uh, what?” As much as he’d been pussyfooting around it, she hadn’t really thought Steve Rogers was serious. She’d been convincing herself that he wanted some sort of exposure therapy for Bucky where the former assassin had to sit in a room with a girl and live to tell the tale. She hadn’t expected Steve to proposition her and then attach Bucky Barnes as an audience.

“You’re mad,” he said, his brows drawing together in concern.

“I’m not mad. I’m trying to figure out what alternate dimension I fell into that resulted in Captain America asking me if I want to fuck while his best friend watches.”

“Steve.”

“Right. Sorry. Steve.”

“Look, Darcy, I don’t do this. This isn’t—I don’t want you to think we don’t have respect for you or feel like you have to agree because of who I am.”

“I don’t feel either of those ways, dude. I feel like you two might have lost your minds. How did you decide on me out of all the women in this building? In this world?”

“You’re our only choice. We don’t want to do this with someone else.”

My little WinterShieldShock (The Line) is coming along. I finished the first draft of chapter 21 this evening, and I hope to get chapter 22 done tomorrow. It's 126,000 words at the moment and will likely be around 150,000 words by the time I'm done writing the last 4-5 chapters.

I have chapters 22-25 plotted out. Depending on how things go when I get in there, it might end up being 26 chapters. Sometimes scenes take a bit longer to play out than I originally think.

the valley by Miguel has definitely been on heavy rotation as I write and has inspired the vibe of many a sex scene in this sex scene heavy fic. If you look it up yourself, make sure you listen to the explicit version. The edited/cleaner version just doesn't have the same impact.

When you're an adult who has a job that allows you the luxury of taking time off whenever you want, you use that power to take three days off to write a few chapters of a Steve/Darcy/Bucky fanfic.

The WinterShieldShock piece I've been working on the past few weeks has a tentative title: The Line. There's a chance this may change, but it's what I'm feeling right now.

I'm about halfway through writing the first draft of chapter 17. There are a little over 95,000 words on the page. I have the next 6 chapters plotted out with what will be covered in them. I have a general idea of how I want to end things, but I plan on nailing that down in more detail by this time next week. I suspect this will be 25-27 chapters, depending on how my writing goes over the next few chapters. It will likely be 140-150k words when all is said and done.

@feistygina has seen the first 10 chapters. I'll be asking a couple other folks to take a look at those for me soon. I'd love to have my first draft finished in the first half of August so I can begin posting in the second half of August. We'll see how that goes. I do think you'll have the first few chapters before Labor Day, provided my brain doesn't break down.

I will say that I've somehow written a fic with lots of smut that still feels like a slow burn in parts. And that wasn't really my intention, but here we are. A leopard cannot change her spots and all that shit.

I'll see you in a few days with another update and maybe some inspiration by way of pictures or music from my writing soundtrack. Wish me luck as I dive back into chapter 17.

Progress update for the class on my WinterShieldShock WIP.

I'm about halfway through writing chapter 13. I should be able to finish most/all of that chapter tonight. It's currently a little over 72,000 words. I'm probably a little over halfway done. I have the next 7-ish chapters plotted out, but I need to sort through how I want to end it and make some sense of the jumbled up ideas in my head.

Because I'm an adult, I made an adult decision to take a few days off work at the end of the month to get some more writing done. If I don't burn out and have to take a break, I think this fic should be finished sometime in the first two week so August. If that is the case, then I should be able to begin posting it in the second half of August.

I'll see you in a few days with another progress report and maybe some music that provided the vibes for some of the scenes. I will say, I'm going to be so sick of writing sex scenes by the time this is finished. This fic has an obscene amount of sex.

I started writing my next fanfic before I finished posting Entanglement.  I’m about 50,000 words and 9 chapters into an untitled piece.  I don’t have it all plotted out yet, so there are still many unknowns.  I don’t know exactly how long it will be, but it will likely be over 120,000 words and 20+ chapters.  I don’t know when I’ll be finished writing it, but it will likely be sometime in August.  I don’t know when it will be ready to share with all of you on AO3, but it will likely be sometime in late-August or early-September.

I can, however, share the general premise with you. Read on for that...

A couple years after the events of The Winter Soldier, Steve tracks Bucky down and brings him in. With the support of the Avengers, he is able to get Bucky exonerated of the actions he was forced to carry out as the Winter Soldier. Bucky is still a risk because the trigger word programming HYDRA put in place is still there. Tony Stark reworks some technology he was developing for Alzheimer’s research to find the connections to the trigger words woven through Bucky’s memories during his decades with HYDRA. He just needs a helper to do the grunt work: watch the memories with Bucky and zap the connections out of his head.

So, when Jane Foster shows up with her former intern and new astrophysics grad student in tow, Tony offers to pay Darcy a modest salary, give her room and board, and cover her grad school tuition if she spends a few hours a week working with Bucky.  Bucky and Steve aren’t so agreeable to this plan at first, but they come around.

The fic starts a month into the project. Tony and Darcy have successfully cut the links with two trigger words and are working on the third when Steve Rogers corners Darcy in the lunch room of Avengers Tower. Once he gets her alone, he doesn’t ask her for an update on his friend, though.  Instead, Steve asks her something she couldn’t have expected.  He wants to know if she’d be interested in having sex with him while Bucky watches. He says it would help Bucky get comfortable with intimacy after the abuse he suffered at HYDRA’s hands. He also admits that he and Bucky have thought about her in that way, and they were hopeful she might be willing to help them scratch that itch.

Darcy isn’t dumb, so she says yes.  What ensues is a mess of sex and feelings with some hit and miss communication as the three of them figure out what they want and how to navigate a sexual (and romantic) relationship between more than two people.  With the exception of a short first chapter from Steve’s viewpoint, all of this is told from Darcy’s perspective.

If you’re looking forward to this, I should give you some warnings to be fair.  One—the fic is sexually explicit throughout.  Some of the sex involves light kink. If you’ve read my other work, you probably won’t blink an eye, though.  Two—there are a couple flashbacks/memories of Bucky’s that involve sexual abuse/rape.  Darcy witnesses these through the machine Tony has built.  Three—there is a sexual component to Steve’s and Bucky’s relationship even without Darcy in the middle.  She enhances that, but Steve and Bucky will be touching each other and kissing in this fic with and without Darcy in the room.

I’ll provide progress updates, inspo, and excerpts here as I write.  I’m excited to share this with the WinterShieldShock fans in a few weeks.
