               A Visit With Supercilious                                                        

I remember during my New York exodus, I sat in a great big fancy house. Invited through a mutual friend to this somewhat popular “diva’s” home, I felt quite honored and was excited about meeting her.

We slept comfortably through the night and in the morning, the doors flew open as she shouted a gleeful good morning to everyone. But no sooner than she began to open her mouth, you could feel the arrogance and the haughty flair inundate the air. Later that morning, as we made our way to the kitchen table, I was even more disappointed. Disappointed at how GOD’s people with money and prestige can behave so poorly, insensitive, and plainly put uncouth.

She laughed from across the table in prideful hums as she made light of my painful plight with imprudent comments and as she every now and then took underhanded jabs.

But while her pomposity got the best of her, she wasted no time to take notes for her latest book as godly wisdom poured through my lips to those who sat around the table. Then, all of a sudden, I heard the Holy Spirit say be quiet. Say no more. Speak nothing else.

One thing is for certain, I pray for her still today when the Holy Spirit brings her to my mind, but the lesson to learn was this. Always be kind, treat strangers like kings and queens because it is what the LORD requires and because you just never know who you are unknowingly entertaining. They may appear like a no named, ashy Cinderella before the ball, but they are GOD’s royal diadems journeying through chapters in their life.
